It Mirrors Defeat......

"A Selfish Heart MIRRORS SELF Defeat..."

Does this mean defeat for the one who is being singled out, or does it mean Defeat for the selfish person???

I BELIEVE ...... that He who has a selfish spirit in their heart, will only move forward to face DEFEAT staring them directly in the face!

I don't know about the rest of you, but to me....Selfishness is just one of those things that I despise seeing in others.  It is so unbecoming and speaks loud and clear to me about the character of an individual who feels that the world owes them something!

You know.....I sometimes believe that I must be a bit naive about this world that we live in today.  Where is all the selfishness coming from???

I was raised during a time when we were given things out of necessity rather than out of want!  To have a closet full of clothes was un-heard of.....unless you were WEALTHY!    To have your own vehicle while in High School was one of those things that most of us did not expect, and few had.  There certainly were NO hand outs of any sort.    Heck....in my family, we all SHARED most things.   I promise....if it wasn't against the school rules, I probably would have had to share clothes with my brothers as well!!  Nj     Can't you just see it now?  Me, wearing a pair of Levi jeans, a button up shirt and some cowboy boots!  NOT!!

I hear kids say......"Well, times have changed?"    WELL...yes time have changed!!  But....what everyone also needs to know is that along with ALL the change, it has also brought about disrespect for others......Disrespect for individuals.

It is God's desire for us to LOVE one another.   Love does not hold back, and it sure does not hold back the giving of things that can benefit and help others!!!!! No....love puts others before ourselves.

I'm telling you......Selfishness is one of those things that sets my insides on fire.   I don't like to see it in adults and I don't like seeing it in young kids.
I have to ask......WHERE IS ALL OF THIS COMING FROM???

  1. We are a nation of excess and I think children expect to have everything.

  3. OH Shug, You certainly hit my buttons with this post. I see it BIGTIME --even in my own grandchildren. But--it's coming also from their parents... My grandson is a Senior in High School. The parents are divorced ---and there's not much money in the family. However, this young man HAS to have a car.. AND--the family (all of us) are 'expected' to pay for it for him.... My sons all worked in high school--and if they wanted money for gas, insurance, etc.--they worked for it... These days, kids just expect everything to be handed to them.. Selfishness???? Yes---it's out there bigtime in the younger generation. AND--you can tell how it is changing our country --and NOT for the good..... Nuff said.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  4. Shug, what a great post. I agree with you - I think it's the times we live in - an attitude of me, me, me and what I want to make me happy, AND our kids were raised in a world of abundance and entitlement. WE weren't. My parents didn't have much of anything, and I was grateful for everything I had. We made our kids work and pay for their vehicles, gas and running around and we tried to teach them the importance of being grateful. I hate seeing selfishness in others, too, Shug.

  5. Hi, Shug...
This is such an awesome post and I so agree. Selfishness is one of the most undesirable traits one can have.
It spills over into every aspect of life,, I think. The people I admire the most are the unselfish...
Hope all is good in your world...

  6. It is very concerning. You have to wonder not only where it is coming from... but, where it will take our country. blessings ~ tanna

  7. Sista, you're preaching to the choir! I feel exactly the same way. Sometimes 'progress' brings with it some undesirable traits in humans. Having too much stuff just makes people want more. It's insatiable. Grrrr

  8. We took God out of schools and discipline out of parents hands. Children are given an allowance for keeping there room tidy. I don't understand that at all. I just believe responsibility and respect are not being taught. You gave me lots to think about today. Hope you have a great week.

  9. I frankly can't stand seeing the selfishness of so many today. They expect to have everything that most of us waited years and years and worked for. They just want it handed to them. Where do they get this idea that they don't have to work for anything??? Our government for one. And I do think parents give so much "stuff" to their kids instead of their time and attention. And, obviously, discipline is sadly lacking. Oh, I could go on and on on this subject!
    Have a happy week!
