Aging is an attitude...

First things first.......Happy 17th Birthday to our grandson....Tyler

Time passes so fast.....especially as we watch our babies grow up!

************

Isn't it funny how when you are 17...you just can't wait for that 18th birthday....and then we become so eager to celebrate that big number (21) the one that kinda confirms that we are an adult...

We age each year, and it's not really a big deal until you reach that over the hill birthday.  You know, the big 40.

After that.....we have a tendency to want to chain ourselves to this number....40.
I think we automatically assume that the good life....or the BEST of life is now gone.

Rarely will we find anyone who just can't wait to blow out the candles on what we all
consider to be the SUNSET birthdays.  Most of us are afraid that we won't have enough breath in us to even attempt to blow out the 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 candles that might adorn our birthday cakes in the years to come.

I think old age is an attitude......!!  My High School classmates are all turning 60 this year....but NOT ME!  I say that we can all be as young as we feel and for this reason, I'll be turning 49 AGAIN.

What really matters, is when we can celebrate each year with the attitude of thanking GOD for another year, and by asking HIM......what it is that HE wants us to do for HIM during each particular phase of our lives.  How can we serve HIM.

No matter our age.....we each can determine to live each day.....Praising God and Thanking Him for his Mercy and His Grace.....and for giving us life each new day.

Have a Sweet Day...

  1. Well, a very happy birthday to Tyler! My dad is 76 and said inside he feels 36. He hasn't let age stop him from cage fighting, wild boar hunting, or playing semi-pro football! Of course one does have to be in good physical health to enjoy those sorts of things, but he works very hard at staying in shape. Hope you have a blessed day, Shug!

I am very thankful for reaching my current age. I don't worry too much about aging I just try to enjoy every day as it comes. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I always thought that 50 was the Over the Hill year--not 40.. Goodness--they are changing it.

WELL--you are as old as you feel. Look at George and me. He'll be 71 this weekend and I'll be 71 in August...

We are going to stay active, healthy and as young as we can for as long as we can... Praise God!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  5. Hi Shug! The old saying goes that you are as young as you feel. Well, at almost 67 I still feel like 49 most of the time, but there are days...when I feel 67! LOL! I know I'm a lot slower at several things than I used to be, but all in all I'm doing pretty good. Just the other day, I stopped and just thought...hey, life is good and I feel good...yay! I also realize that all could change at any time, so I am going to enjoy life each day with everything I've got as long as I can!!
    Enjoy your week!
