Our lovely Antique  sign that hangs near the back
door.....

There is no telling how many folks have driven up the driveway and seen this sign, only to wonder if
"Antiques" live here.....

Funny isn't it??

Speaking of antiques....

What would one consider an antique store to be?
Perhaps, a business that sells antique items??  How old does an item need to be, before it qualifies as an antique??

These are just a few of the questions that Sam and  I had to ask ourselves yesterday....

I know you have heard of "Rants and Roses" before....Well, this post is not intended to be a RANT...but it definitely is not a ROSE either...
Let me just call it a Rose without fragrance!!

Sam and I drove to "Grapevine" yesterday, with the intentions of shopping at some of their antique shops....

Oh....we did do our research before making this trip...BUT, either we were in the wrong city of Grapevine, or some of the antique shops failed to mention that they no longer carried antiques in their shops.

I suppose, one shop qualified as an antique store because it had (1) one... old bicycle on display.
Other shops had fewer than 10 or 12 antique items all together...

Honestly....In many of the stores, their Antique Sign, was the oldest thing around....
As a matter of fact, I don't even think that the shop owners were would qualify to be antiques.

Most of the items were craft items and a good many of them had been purchased and was in the booths for resale!

Big disappointment!  With all this said, we are going to do some more research to try to find some OLD antique shops, located in the beautiful city of Grapevine Texas...

BTW...I must say, this would be a great shopping trip for a bunch of girl friends...GREAT girls weekend away!  If you want bling, you will find it...if you want unusual clothing, it is there.  Just don't go looking to find any cheap deals on old vintage items...

Oh well....another weekend....and more antique stores are waiting to be found!!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Shug the Boog!   this is what my grandchildren would say!!

  1. Doesn't something have to be 100 yrs old to be considered an antique? I would be mad too if there were no antiques where I thought they would be!

  2. Ah Shug, That's a BUMMER... It's frustrating to go somewhere looking for something specific and then can't find it...

Maybe you need to find estate sales or yard-type sales to find cheap antiques these days.

    Good Luck the next time.

  3. Not sure what age constitutes "antique" but some days I feel like one! lol Sorry your Grapevine antique shopping was a let down, but you should go during Grapefest--I think it's some time in the fall. Lots of wine tasting and other fun stuff.

  4. Your sign on the fence with the vines is very pretty, but don't people ever think you are an antique store?? I have read that an antique is something over 100 years old!

  5. Hey, I hear ya! So many of the so called 'antique' more closely resemble garage sales! We have some good ones close by, but there are a few you have to pick through to find anything worthwhile. And when did old pyrex get to be such a treasure! :D
