written by rita bristowMy mommy and I made a trip to Dallas on Tuesday to see my neurologist, Dr. Dowling. He is very concerned with my lack of development. I will go into the hospital for my final round of IVIG/Steroid treatments on Sunday. I will receive my PICC line on Monday and my busy week will begin. Dr. Dowling explained to mommy that this week will be a very hard week for me as they will do some very extensive test to try to determine an exact diagnosis for me. I continue to be a puzzle to all of the doctors and he stated that that scares him. He said I have already had numerous tests and have been seen by many brilliant doctors and yet we still have no answers. He also said the treatment has helped all the rapid eye movement and shaking; however, we still have no answers to why I have not met any milestones and why I remain mentally and physically a 1 month old. Some of the tests that he plans to do next week are another brain MRI; a skin and muscle biopsy; nerve test and more blood work. He is trying to find any clues to help lead to answers.Mommy called and spoke with Dr. Pranzatelli, the OMS Specialist out of Springfield, IL. yesterday. His response was that he does not believe that I have OMS and suggested that we continue with the testing that Dr. Dowling has scheduled for next week. While I definitely showed OMS originally, all of the other problems that I have going on now are not related to OMS. He did agree to review my medical history and ask mommy to send him some videos of my dancing eyes, which she promptly did. Dr. Dowling has a neurologist in Houston he wants us to see and perhaps a specialist in Baltimore Maryland. For now, we will complete these test and then decide what is next.We ALL continue to have FAITH and COURAGE that God will see us thru this journey. I have met so many amazing prayer warriors along my journey. Each of you has been such a blessing to me and my family and I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Everywhere I go; someone smiles at me and tells me how precious I am! God has started a work in me and He will complete it. My family’s prayer is that God gives them a clear direction of how to best care for me and a peace that we are doing all that we can do medically. Thank you all for your continual love, support and PRAYERS!Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9 ESV)Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord! (Psalm 31:24 ESV)
