Happy Easter Weekend!
Easter day in our house is a mixture of Holy reverence and complete, jellybean fueled chaos. Somewhere between hiding eggs and trying to remember where we hid the "extra special prize egg," we pause to remind our family and ourselves what we are really celebrating.
Amid the bunny ears and sugar highs, we always take time to talk about the real story of Easter. The one where love hung on a cross and rose again three days later. Thankfully, we all know Jesus and we never get tired of hearing about our risen savior.
Yes.....Easter is about the Resurrection!
It's about letting the joy of Jesus fill our hearts. In this house, we believe in the power of the cross!
We do enjoy a few colored eggs, our night time egg hunt, and the memories of such a beautiful weekend.
TODAY....
I will be preparing my meal for tomorrow, and Mylee told me yesterday that she's still young enough (17) for an Easter Basket...this means I had better get to town!!
Shug....🐣
Easter at your home sounds delightful, Shug! I love it that Mylee still is young enough for an Easter basket. :) Happy a blessed Easter day tomorrow, my sweet friend. xx
ReplyDeleteI just got home from making the purchase for her basket...Hopefully she will love the bunny this year...Happy Easter and I do hope you and your family are blessed in so many ways.
DeleteDon't forget to add some cash, gold and silver to Mylee's basket, the dollar and bonds are under stress and next week more likely Will be a bear market.
ReplyDeleteTrue that is...she would certainly love the gold and silver..
DeleteAre you ever too old for an Easter basket? I made one still for Andy and Shaye - age 24. Next year it will be for their baby tho. lol
ReplyDeleteYes, the sadness of Good Friday brings us the joy of tomorrow - EASTER!
Never too old around here...I was saying earlier...I have no idea why Mylee had to remind me that she is still young enough for a basket...This child is rotten and gets one every single year.. Happy Easter!!
DeleteHappy Easter tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you all as well...I know you are cooking something delicious...Hugs to you.
DeleteYes, the Power of the Cross. Have a blessed Easter in your times of remembrance and family fun.
ReplyDelete(((hugs)))

Hugs back to you Sue! I love to always read your comments..Happy Easter to you and your family and I pray that Blessings are abundant for you all.
DeleteOh Shug, I smiled at Mylee's response that she's still young enough for an Easter basket. Good for her! I made up Easter baskets for my kids until they were in their 30's giving them adult little gifts....and some chocolate haha. It's nice that you still have the fun traditions on Easter, like the egg hunts and the colored eggs, but I especially loved your words about all of you knowing Jesus and reflecting on the resurrection.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to a very special blog friend.

I was so tickled at Mylee as well....She has Always gotten an Easter Basket from her pops and I, so I'm not sure why she thought she wan't going to this year...maybe because a big number of our family is in Colorado this year for Easter. I love traditions as well and I try my best to keep them going year end and year out. Enjoy your Easter day.
DeleteMy mom gave me an easter basket until I had my firstborn. In our family, we used the same Easter basket year after year even though my sister and I never believed. I still have my original basket I had as a child. I wanted to keep that tradition for my boys but each season, they came out with so many boy/ oriented “baskets” that a girly pastel basket was totally out of the question plus, they never believed in the Easter Bunny either - I did pass that down!
ReplyDeleteI’m sure your Easter Day will be awesome with your great big family. Something about a huge family, with shared values that makes the holiday even more special. All mine are working - it’s just the husband and I but I will make it special for us.
Easter hugs,
Debby
Sadly, our oldest daughter and her family are all in Colorado this weekend. I am thrilled for them to all be together, but we will miss them here. It's only shanda, her husband and two of their kids, plus Sam and I for Easter this year. I love that you still have your basket...such a treasure. Easter is a beautiful celebration no matter how many we have present...Enjoy this special day.
DeleteOh the joys of Easter! It's a celebration...it's enjoying the abundance life Jesus gave us to enjoy all things. I love your Easter celebration, I wish I could beam myself over to see all the fun and goodies you have prepared. For years and like Mylee my kids never outgrew Easter Baskets. I loved making them "personal" like added something only that child would enjoy. I remember our oldest daughter was into horses...she got a horse instead of a bunny!! When my dearest was healthy, we always had the Easter Celebration at our house. One year we did a flashlight egg hunt at night, because the daytime one went to fast....I'm rambling....memories...Have a great time with your wonderful family!!!
ReplyDeleteMy kiddos LOVE the Night time egg hunt....maybe even more than opening Christmas presents. Love that you gave your daughter a horse..That's the kind of things I like to do...make their baskets personalized just for them. I do hope you all enjoy a wonderful Easter Day and celebration.
Deletethecontemplativecat here. Easter! Just saying the word reminds me to look to Christ Jesus with thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteAmen and Amen!! Easter is I do believe my favorite day! Enjoy a beautiful Easter Day....I always look forward to Easter Sunrise services
DeleteI've been busy prepping here too! Kids coming tonight, friends coming tomorrow! Lots of work, but it's so good!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter my friend!
I kinds get overwhelmed, but when everyone shows up, we have the best time and everything works out as I had planned.
DeleteSO, I am interested in what you put in Mylee's basket, being as she is a teen. That can be hard. I put in our girl's.. makeup, nail polish (did you know there is magnetic nail polish?) candy, jewelry, pretty hair bands scrunchies and clips. How does nighttime egg hunt work?? I hope you have a great Easter weekend and come back with photos!
ReplyDeleteI sent you a message on messenger just in case you don't see this one. I pretty much do some of the same things as you. This year I did do a Starbucks gift certificate (she sometimes likes to stop there on her way to school). Girls are easy, its the boys that I have a hard time with. So, on the night time egg hunt...Sam and I go out and hide all the eggs just before it gets really dark.. My kiddos show up with their flashlights and their basket and I make them line up..at Go, they all take off...and they have to find all the eggs in the dark with only the flashlights. I know how many eggs I hide, so if what they all collect isn't the number, then they go hunt more. I usually fill the eggs with like dollar bills, maybe a couple of 5's and 10's and then all kinds of different candy. I have also put numbers in some of the eggs and they might win a prize that has the same number..nothing big, but too big to go in an egg. There is ONE golden egg that is hidden very well...who ever finds it is the big winner! I'll put a larger bill in that egg along with goodies. We have done this for 25 years and they still love doing it.
DeleteHave a wonderful Easter weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect mix for Easter. I don't think anyone is ever too old for an Easter basket.
