Timeless Elegance

Decorating with Blue and White Vases....

By thoughtfully placing blue and white vases throughout your home, you can create stylish  decor that enhances the beauty of each space.

My mother-in-law collected these and then would mix a variety of blue and white vases (in all shapes and sizes) together, to create a striking focal point.

She passed away this past September, however, she left instructions as to what she wanted to happen to her beautiful vases.

She marked my name on this big Ginger Jar and I am so pleased to be the recipient of this gorgeous piece...   There are others that she gave me as well and I can't wait to display them in our home.

These pieces are often highly collectible, making them a prized addition to many homes.   I find that the combination of blue and white is neutral enough to blend with various color schemes, yet striking enough to stand out as a decorative feature.

Some cultures view the blue and white designs as purity, tranquility, and prosperity, which "supposedly" brings positive energy into a home.
I'm sharing this small portion of my MIL's collection (on my blog) to be able to have them printed in my blog book......and to inspire others to look for pieces for your homes that will be bring your many years of joy.

Happy Father's Day to all the guys out there.

And Happy Father's Day to my guy here...
Happy Father's Day, Sam.

  2. Decades ago, I knew a gal who decorated her home with everything blue and white - with vases, and dishes- it was like out of a magazine. She had white sofas. She had these huge picture windows that looked out to lagoons that were blue as well. Your photos reminded me that.
What a good idea about marking the name on an item.
My condolences on the passing of your mother-in-law this past Sept.

  3. I've always loved blue in the home, Shug, and your mother-in-law's collection of vases is so pretty. Blue and white especially goes well together. That's so thoughtful of her to mark your name on the ginger jar and pass it down to you. I think that's my favorite piece on here. Your collection of photos is charming too. I hope you will show us more of your blue and white collection sometime.
