Much to Think About

This past Sunday,  I heard someone

mention this poem...

 "The Dash"

....I checked it out and I found that

it gave me much to think about.

  Many of you may

have heard of  this poem before, but for

those that have not, I would love

 to share it with you....

The Dash Poem, by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend

He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end

He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was “the dash” between those years

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.

And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.

Are there things you’d like to change?

For you never know how much time is left,

That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough

To consider what’s true and real

And always try to understand

The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,

And show appreciation more

And love the people in our lives

Like we’ve never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,

And more often wear a smile

Remembering that this special dash

Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spend your dash!

Very Interesting!  Our "Dash" is very

important isn't it?

Pick Yourself Up and Carry On!

hi y'all....it's just me, coming to you from the
crazy side of me....AGAIN!

Now,  some of you may find my topic today, to be a little too personal, but I consider it a learning lesson for me to share with all my friends...

Do Not, and I Repeat....Do Not put on a pair of white slacks, unless you have on the proper
under apparel!!

AND....

Do Not.... make an early morning doctor's appointment, unless you get up EXTRA early, and allow yourself the time, to look in the big mirror, before leaving for an appointment!

(Wow...that was a mouth full)

Must I say more??

DO NOT.... wear blue panties underneath a pair of white slacks!!

I had to ask myself...."what good does it do to look in the full length mirror, after you get home?"

I was sitting down the entire time that I was in the presence of the doctor, so no humility there...BUT, can you imagine the amount of laughter that I must have provided his nurses with?

As the little orange guy says...."Sometimes you just have to pick yourself up and carry on!"
Hope you all have a fantastic day!!

Living in the city is not all that it is cracked up to be....Sure, it takes me about 10 minutes to run (well, drive) to the local grocery store...and this includes buying a dozen eggs,  and ....making my way home!!

The only rooster that we get to wake up to, is the crowing of a ring tone on the cell phone.

Now, I ask you....Is this fun?

I don't think so!!

...I want to be able to hear that annoying "Cock-a-doodle-do" from a real rooster....
The kind of crowing that makes your eyes pop open in the wee early morning hours.

And how about some Hens!!  Those sweet little girly-girls that lay the best of best eggs.

Looks like this is as close as I will come to being able to have some frilly ladies, sitting on the roost.

Every day, it seems like I hear of someone else getting some new chickens and rooster.  This is wonderful!  I love the thought of going back to raising our own chickens and having fresh eggs.  Chickens and eggs, that are not so full of all sorts of hormones.

For now...I guess I'll just have to enjoy the
cute little chicks that I have sitting on my Window Seal.

I do have to admit....they're pretty cute!

Maybe it's time for me to consider running for
a public office...It's time to get back to owning your own land....even if it is in the city!!

I'm not talking about bringing in a heard of cattle...just a chicken or two and a rooster!

Our grandson (Tucker) was telling me the other day that we need to move to the farm...My response was:  "What about my kitchen?  I just re-modeled it."  He said:  "Look at it like this Shug....No more re-modeling...When you live in a tent, you can buy a new Coleman stove any time you want one...and you can probably choose your color!!"

Good point Tuck!!

You Know You Are Loved...When??

Loved this new picture that the kids made for me!
I know how difficult it is to sometimes get guys to pose for a picture, but my grandsons love making me happy, and they were happy to oblige their Shug!  It's a different story when it comes to Tori...she loves having her picture made!

I was extremely blessed today!  I had the privilege of spending the entire morning with both Tyler and Tucker....

Tucker had to be at the Orthodontist this morning by 8:00 and Tyler had his 16 year old "Well Check" today.  You know you are loved when your 16 year old lets you take him to the doctor for this kind of visit...(By the way, I'm not sure I ever mentioned that Tyler now has his "REAL" drivers license.)  He could have driven, but was happy for me to take them.

What really made this a fun visit is the fact that Tyler was seeing a new doctor for the very first time.  Yep, his Doctor since birth, just recently retired!
All of the other grandkids have seen the new doctor before, but this was a first for Tyler....
By the way, the new doctor is a female!!

Tucker and I had a few laughs when she told Tyler to put on a gown...Not something that he wanted to do....at all!!

By the time that we finished with all the visits,  it was time for lunch!  I had (2) TWO  hungry guys with me, and when I say hungry, I mean starving....or so they thought.

Goodness, Goodness....these two precious guys are really growing...They feasted on dishes of meatloaf, chicken, cream potatoes, fried okra, salad, corn, rolls, fruit, chocolate cake, and coconut pie.  I loved seeing them eat so healthy!

I loved my day and I sure love these kids!!

Have a great evening...

Sitting and Reading.

Well, today’s post is coming to you straight from my phone—which, apparently, has decided it gets to make the rules. 😊 For some reason, it...
