Although I had planned to do absolutely nothing today, I did manage to enjoy a morning brunch.
My daughter (Trista)...granddaughter (tori)...granddaughter-in-law (Emily)...and our great grandson (William) gathered at La Madeleine for a very nice brunch. While it might not be my favorite brunch spot, I found myself smiling over a yogurt parfait and soaking in something far more nourishing than food....GREAT COMPANY AND WONDERFUL CONVERSATION..
As you can see...I also enjoyed a nice glass of Southern Sweet Tea.
William kept us on our toes as we sat out on the patio. He was wanting to explore everything that there was to explore. The birds, the stones and even the world outside of the gate....these things were sure keeping him busy.
Truthfully, I had not even intended to go anywhere today. I had planned a quiet day at home. But life has a fun way of placing unexpected gifts right in the middle of ordinary moments. If I had stayed home, I would have missed the sweetness of the morning.
Not every meaningful moment arrives with a fanfare. My day began simple.....A breakfast outing, A baby's smile, and a family gathered around coffee cups and conversation. You just can't beat this kind of goodness.
The rest of my day was beautifully ordinary. Laundry hummed in the background while I worked in the backyard, tending to things growing beneath the sunshine. I love the healing favor from God in the little things that I do each day. Caring for my flowers and tending to our home.
This memorial day weekend, I have found myself thinking about how quickly seasons change. How important it is to say yes to time together with family, even when we did not plan it. One day, the brunches, the backyard chores, the tiny hands reaching across the table, will become the memories that soften our hearts the most.
As far as tomorrows plans go?
Online Church....and maybe a trip to the garden center. I am needing some ornamental grass and perhaps a few more flowering plants.
Wherever this weekend finds you, I hope you find many pockets of happiness...
Hugs to ALL
Shug..
What a wonderful day! This is the best kind of holiday. And no travelling!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Ginny... I don't like to travel on Holidays.. Hope your weekend is GREAT
DeleteI'm glad it went well. Most of my days are quiet and peaceful, and I love it.

ReplyDeleteIt was so good Martha. The light yogurt parfait was perfect and then the fellowship with my kids made it ever more perfect.
DeleteBrunch sounds like the perfect fuel for the weekend. A delightful outing with loved ones that will carry you through the rest of the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThis has been a very relaxing weekend and even though the brunch was not in my plans, the timing worked out great and the parfait was so tasty..
DeleteYour brunch sounds lovely and it sounds like William kept you busy.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Oh boy Kim... He kept me on the run but I didn't even mind...I love playing with this almost 2 year old.
DeleteI love your header today!
ReplyDeleteYour brunch sounds lovely and I know smiles came along with little William. Thank you for sharing joy in the things of daily life!
Thank you Mari. I have so many headers that I love and it saddens me when I change them..on the other hand..I wanted to make sure I had one for the Memorial day Weekend.
DeleteYes, life does indeed change on whim. I am glad you had a nice time--online church here too, hubby also holds a Bible lesson as well. Keeping in prayer, sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteSam can no longer go to church...We both miss it, but this just works best for him right now. Thank you for all the prayers.
DeleteThe Lord knows what you need and places these gifts of sweetness on our path. You chose to receive this one!
ReplyDeleteSo true Debby. I love the sweet blessings from God.
DeleteUnexpected and unplanned pleasures are the most rewarding that life can offer.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Sometimes I plan things only to find out that I've invested too much work into it and I am too tired to enjoy.
DeleteShug, sometimes we plan on staying home and then life offers something better :) But then it's always nice to come home again :) I'm glad Sam has had some good days this week. I pray that will continue for many, many more. Have a wonderful holiday weekend. Hugs :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie. Us having a rest weekend, also meant that the grands could go on and play the golf game they love as well as spend time with other family that they do not see on a regular basis. Enjoy the rest of this beautiful weekend.
DeleteWell, it's hard to pass up little hands reaching across the table. Children have a way of making everything right again. Your fruit parfait looks Yummy as ever. And your sweet tea looks so refreshing. I've been having sweet tea lately. It's called Milo's, and it's pretty tasty. The garden center is always a nice visit, and I hope you find what you're looking for. I love these little healing moments from God too, Shug. That's a beautiful way to put it. Have a sweet Sunday
ReplyDeleteI love sweet iced tea. I typically would have gotten coffee, but the sweet tea just sounded so good. I am so excited about going to the garden center....this is where I find such relaxing fun...
DeleteYou enjoyed your time out! Prayers continue for you and for Sam. I think of and pray for you often:) Pray without ceasing it says some place in the Bible.
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie for the prayers and also for the reminders to always pray without ceasing. There are miracles all around us and I believe that if it's the Lord's will, He will bring us one. Happy Weekend..
DeletePockets of Happiness ... I love that ! That's the way our days are going too. I thank the Lord for those pockets throughout the day and the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI am reflecting on the goodness of God this morning.
I have loving family, a husband that loves me, a roof over my head and food in my belly.
Blessings abound.
(((hugs)))
Sue
On a humorous note, when I came to your mention of laundry, I was reminded that I had long forgot my laundry in the drier! I jumped up and got it out, folded, and put away.
ReplyDeleteYes, enjoy family and precious people when we can. Do not take that for granted.
Good job of seizing the opportunity that presented itself.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful blessing...an impromptu brunch with your sweet little one and family. I can't think of anything more special than that. And that yogurt parfait looks wonderful. Yes, we grab the moments while we can...we just never know when we won't be able to do that anymore, so grab the joy any time it appears. I love this.
ReplyDeleteI like La Madeline's, but ours just closed. Sounds like you are letting the weekend just flow where it wants to go and I think that is great.
ReplyDeleteDear Shug, I love the photo! Thank you so much for sharing....what matters most!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a blessing to share time and a meal with loved ones! God bless you, dear friend.
