Well...we did have a little Zippity- Doo-Dah in our day! It kinda snuck in and changed the rhythm of the day for us.
The kids (those that live around here) came for lunch today... We (Sam and I) boiled the corn on the cob and made the baked beans...We already had a pulled pork and some ribs cooked. Everything else was furnished by the kids.... (daughters and son-in-laws)
They even brought a watermelon and it went straight into the pool. It didn't fall in there, it was placed in the pool. Since the pool water is kinda cold....what better way to keep a melon chilled than to let it float in the pool.
Today felt like a dancing kind of day...I did not dance, but the spirit has sure been here. It was a day that had some sparkle in it and I DO LOVE ME SOME SPARKLE.
Right now, I have my feet propped up, and I'm listening to the sound of Sam snoozing nearby. Honestly, this in itself feels like such a sweet little blessing of peace. For me it is a comforting sound of someone I love resting so easy.... a sound I never tire of. Just the simple gift of being present in a cozy moment that asks nothing from you except for me to enjoy it.

My Calendar for the week is not overly full, and I am actually thankful for this. I'm hoping to catch up on things around here, finish a few projects and maybe even listen to some good ol' Southern Gospel music.
This sure sounds good to me!!
Blessings and Love...
Shug...

Ha! I never heard of putting the melon in the pool, but it makes sense.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a sparkle in your day!
Hey why not! Makes perfect sense to me. It’s like during winter months when we have company, we put the cooler on the back patio to keep beverages and desserts cold we don’t have to make room in the refrigerator.
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you’re looking at a calm week ahead.
What a smart idea, putting that melon in the pool! I'd never heard of that before, but it's brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting us know how your day sparkled. Southern Gospel? Turn it up!
Your joy is contagious, sweet friend! Your day sounds perfect, and the ending sounds a bit like mine. Have a wonderful evening.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice day:)
ReplyDeleteVocês tiveram um dia maravilhoso, que hoje seja assim também, aqui comigo está abafado a ponto de quase não se conseguir respirar. Abraço para vocês!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you will have a nice week. The swimming pool is such a good idea for the watermelon. It would never even fit in our fridge.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had a great day! ❤️
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you had a lovely day, smiles. Our pool reads 85* sigh, then again, the days have been 100*, sigh. Wishing you a beautiful day my friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day you had. Such a joy to have family around.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a Wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless them All...

Relaxing is good, and so is restful sleep.
ReplyDeleteYou sound less stressed this week! Good!
ReplyDeleteI cleaned the gutter, and worked outside, I am so sore, but my work isn't done. Carry on!
Hi Jenn...yes...I am trying to focus on other things besides doctor's appointments. You are a hard worker ...you remind me of my youngest daughter., She always finds things that needs to be done.
DeleteIt sounds like you have a lovely, peaceful week stretching before you, Shug, and that's just what you need. So glad that Sam is getting some healthy rest, too!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the week ahead. the week after is full of appointments, so it is my full intent to enjoy this week.
DeleteThat sounds just about perfect to me too. I hope you can take some time to just laz....and listen to some good ole gospel music.
ReplyDeleteThe sound of our loved one at peace is a terrific way to relax. So happy Sam could do that. Love the Sparkles and zip you found in your day.
(((hugs)))
Sue
You are so right Sue.. I enjoyed watching Sam enjoying his kiddos all hanging around the back porch. You are so precious..
DeleteI love this post. So full of joy. I had to put our watermelon in our cooler, and just dumped some extra ice from the icemaker in there as it was full to overflowing. It was enough to chill the melon. We also had corn on the cob (Sunday) when the kids were here, and ribs and chicken. It was yummy, but especially good because the kids were here. I know you feel that way too. I can feel it in your words. Oh, so good old southern gospel music would be just about perfect to me! Thank you for this delightful post. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteI do love Southern Gospel Music. It sure makes me smile and I can feel the Holy Spirit in every word..
DeleteHow lovely to have the kids visit for lunch. That is a great idea to keep the watermelon cool. What a great day!
ReplyDeletefor a weekend where nothing was planned, it really turned out great...The kids helped make it this way.
DeleteLove how joyful you sound Shug! It sure sounds like it was one of the those perfect days with family. I think it's a hoot that you put the melon in the pool. That cracked me up - but it does make sense. I just didn't realize it would float! Lol Happy to hear Sam was enjoying rest and a lovely day too. Blessings xo
ReplyDeleteHey Carrie....it was a great day.. My dear SIL....sometimes I have to wonder if he has common sense...lol...just kidding.. This was his bright idea.
DeleteHa, the watermelon in the pool. That is funny, but it makes sense.
ReplyDeleteHere is to a good week ahead.
xo
Carla
I thought this was a funny idea...my son-in-law is a hoot...
DeleteI have never heard of putting a watermelon in the pool! I might have to try that this summer.
ReplyDeleteMe either Michelle... Leave it up to my son-in-law... lol
DeleteI would never think of putting a melon in the pool to keep cool. Did anyone go swimming? So nice to have Sam next to you snoring away. Must have been very peaceful.
ReplyDeleteWe've never had a watermelon in our pool, but it looks fun and I bet it stayed chilled! Glad to hear that Sam is doing well and having some good days! That's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love that watermelon in the pool pic. What a creative idea. Can't believe June is around the corner, and we'll be eating those watermelons a lot in the summer months! I'm glad you had a peaceful day, and Sam was able to sleep. Wishing you a beautiful June coming up, Shug.
