Note: Hey all....The past few days have been very difficult and I have spent most of my time taking care of Sam. He is much better today!!
"When I grow up I want to be a Seagull..."
I came across a quote the other day that stopped me mid-sip of my glass of sweet tea and it made me laugh out loud.
OLD PHOTO that popped up on my phone!!
Vicki, ME, Joyce and Susan
I thought about this little quote for a few minutes and said (to myself) "Hold on! This might just be the most honest life goal I've ever heard."
Because if I'm being real honest for just a minute, adulthood is not exactly anything like full time beach days and snack breaks being handed out like crazy.
Adult life is more like Laundry, paying bills, having to make decisions, and being frustrated about high grocery bills.
But...a SEAGULL?
They have it all figured out..
First of all...Free snacks any time of the day...🍟 🍕 🍔
No planning meals...No grocery list and No "What's for dinner debates."
They just swoop in like tiny feathery bandits and claim what they want..
Pure confidence.
Then there's the beach..🏖
Can you imagine waking up every day with the ocean as your front yard?
No emails. No schedules.
Just waves rolling in and out like a sweet lullaby, that touches the soul.
AND....it is ALL FREE!
Meanwhile... (WE) get maybe one week to go enjoy the beach and if we are lucky....maybe we can have two weeks vacation on the beach.
AND...it cost a pile of money..
Permission to scream anytime you want!! This part spoke to me.
There are moments ... when you just want to let out a good, loud, unfiltered scream. Not because things are terribly wrong, but because life can be a lot.
What do I do instead?
I smile and I say..."All is fine."
I keep stirring the pot, folding the towels and just keep on keeping on.
What do SeaGulls do?
They "CAW! CAW! THIS IS MY MOMENT!"
Nobody even questions them, no one thinks they are crazy. Nobody says, "Are you Okay?"
LOL....they just scream and keep on flying.
Sounds like it might be a lot of fun to be a SeaGull.
What ya think?
Shug....🌼

I think you are totally right!! I'm so glad Sam is doing better!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad Sam is feeling better and that you made it through the rough spots. And that seagull? Yes, I can see why that would be a great ambition in life to be able to live like a seagull! And yes, there have been many times that I have just wanted to SCREAM!!! Actually, I have just gone ahead and done so a few times, and even though the world around me stopped in shock for a few seconds, I felt great just letting it out! Screams are not meant to be kept locked up inside of us...they need an outlet. Happy the one who can find creative ways to let her screams escape without everyone rushing to carry her off to the funny farm...but truly, if we don't let them out, we may end up there, so I say a good scream now and then is really good for the body, mind, and soul!!"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!" Now that's a great way to get it all out! LOL. Loved your post, truly.
ReplyDeleteSending love and hugs. I am glad Sam is much better.
ReplyDeletehahaha! That quote did make me chuckle. Seagulls do have a great life!
Wowzers, you hit the nail on the head with this one today, Shug.
ReplyDeleteMy Take Away is the quote: "Life can be a lot" ... yes it can ... I'm glad that Sam is doing better and that you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Oh, that Seagull is something else... A good scream does a body good !!
Love you dear friend and prayers are continuing.
Sue
Sounds like you and Sam had a rough go of it. I am glad he is somewhat better today.
ReplyDeleteHugs, prayers, and love to you!
Can I be a Seagull with you?
Ha! That is so very good!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Sam is doing better, and I know that when he's better you are too.
Prayers continue!
So happy to hear that Sam is doing better, Shug! With all you've been going through, I can see exactly why you'd like to be a seagull, at least for one day. I wouldn't want to be one in reality, though. Praying for you both!
ReplyDeleteHi Shug....I have to say I've never, ever thought about being a seagull. That was very funny. I am deeply sorry you and your hubs have had some difficult days. I understand 100 percent. Shug, regarding your not liking dolls, it's perfectly okay. I do not take anything personally. As a matter of fact, my own daughter thoroughly DISLIKES dolls. ha haha Oh well, different strokes for different folks. Thanks so much for visiting Writing Straight from the Heart anyway and for your sweet comment, too. Hugs. Susan
ReplyDeleteI've been watching for your post and have been praying for you both. I'm so sorry you both are having to go through this, but I'm glad Sam is feeling better today. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI would say that being a seagull sounds perfect! Hopefully Sam will feel better. Prayers for both of you.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see this update and realize you're still marching to the tune. Please, color me Team Seagull. How about t-shirts that read, "Be a Seagull." Imagine the conversations!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Sam is doing better. Yes, I think being a seagull sounds like a fine idea.
ReplyDeleteShug, I love that picture of you sitting on the porch enjoying your tea! You look so pretty and calm. Yes, sometimes we do want to scream at all the chaos going on around us, and I'm sorry that so many things are piling up right now for you. I hope Sam is Ok. Look at you with that group of friends on the beach. Yes, we keep on keeping on, (that's the perfect way to put it), and we do lots of praying along the way. I am wishing you softer and sweeter May days, Shug. : )
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought about it, but you've convinced me a seagull is a great role model.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a good attitude, even when life is being lifey.
ReplyDeleteThe seagull quote made me smile, but the part about smiling and saying all is fine as you keep on keeping on through the rough patches made me want to give you a big, tight hug.
Glad Sam got a good eye report and is doing better. Continuing to pray for him.
Sounds like it would be a nice break to be a Seagull at least for a day or two!
ReplyDeleteInteresting food for thought being a Seagull. I'm sorry that things have been so rough for Sam. Thank you for taking good care of him. xx
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely way to look at life. I would not mind flying around the beach for a day or two.
ReplyDeleteKeeping you and your husband in my prayers
A time to scream would be good . . .
ReplyDeleteYou are much fun, even when life is tough you have to laugh! All the best.
ReplyDeleteI am praying for Sam and you and family.
ReplyDeleteOh to be a seagull and poop on peoples' heads! I'd like that.
God bless.
