Saturday Morning News from my little corner of East Texas...
☔⛱๐☔⛱๐☔
Well, it's Raining Again!!Not a passing shower, not a sprinkle-and-go kind of morning… but one of those steady, all-day rains that has settled in. The kind that makes you move a little slower, pour another cup of coffee, and listen to it tap against the windows like a familiar song. I love it!!! Of course...it's Prom Day at our local Public School and this makes me sad for the kids.
Now let me tell you about our little "William" and his Easter egg hunt… I think it deserves its own headline.
Picture this:
He spots an egg. Success!
He sets his basket down right where he stands… very official about it.
Opens the egg.
Finds gummies (or something equally exciting).
Eats the treasure immediately—because why wait?
Then… the empty plastic egg? Tossed aside like yesterday’s news.
Basket picked back up. Off he goes to the next one.
I wonder if he actually collected any eggs… or just enjoyed a traveling snack buffet across the yard. Either way, he was living his best life, and honestly, I respect the strategy.
Next in today’s happenings…
Sam and I spotted a squirrel in the parking lot at LongHorn Steakhouse, and let me tell you—this little thing was not shy one bit. It had found itself a meal and was fully committed. No rush, no fear, just sitting there enjoying every bite like it had ordered it medium rare and even paid for it. We just stood there watching, slightly amused and a little impressed by its confidence.
And then comes a tradition that has stood the test of time…
Trista’s annual Easter Bunny Cake.
Twenty-five years she has been making these sweet little bunny cakes. Twenty-five! Her bunny cakes has seen babies grow up, holidays come and go, and still shows up every Easter like a beloved guest who never misses a visit. I love the special family traditions that we have. The kind that quietly stitches memories together year after year. Just have to add the whiskers!!
Last but not least.... I'll be in the kitchen this afternoon.
I'll be preparing a meatloaf that I'll cook in the morning... Getting the Ham ready and dressed for cooking...Making a "Fruit Pizza" inspired by Carrie over at Northwoods Scrapbooks.....
And making some adorable rice crispy bunnies with the recipe coming from Mari over at My little corner of the world.
Lots of good things happening around here.
Blessings for you all as you prepare For Easter Sunday.

That bunny cake year after year is a neat thing. Love the bunny treats and the kind of rain that makes a day off morning a little slower, always a good thing by me.
ReplyDeleteFunny that he left the eggs. I never thought of that approach. But I respect the hustle.
Happy Easter ๐ฐ
I think William was TRULY enjoying his Easter Egg hunt in a way that most of us to not think of.
DeleteMakes sense though. Can't eat the plastic egg. Glad he had fun.
DeleteWishing you and your family a wonderful Easter.
ReplyDeleteGotta admit I kind of like your grands egg hunting method.
LOL..he does have a good way of hunting and ENJOYING.. Happy Easter to you all.
DeleteWhat a cutie your William is! Enjoy the rain!
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie...The flowers are loving the rain..
DeleteThe bunny cake reminds me of one my mom made. I won't say how many years ago that was.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter creates a different look each year...I am loving the Yellow Easter bunny this year.
DeleteWay to go William ! Its all about the prize ... Sugar High I would imagine but what FUN !
ReplyDeleteOh my that Bunny Cake is delightful. I sure love the traditions your family has to enjoy.
Good food and great fellowship.
All I am making for tomorrow is Caesar Salad. We will be at long time friends home again this year. Lots of people and lots of yummy eats. Planned potlucks are the best. I hope I can get a few photos to share for my Monday Meanderings.
Enjoy your pitter patting rain and kitchen creations.
Prayers continuing for all of you.
Sue
It's raining in Michigan too! All day long.... Our grands are coming for an egg hunt, but that will be happening in the garage. :)
ReplyDeleteThe bunny cake is adorable. I used to make that style for birthday cakes when my kids were young and I know it takes time to put all that frosting on. :)
William! That made me laugh out loud. So cute.
Hope all your treats turn out good - have a blessed Easter!
Oh, how we need that lovely rain y'all are getting, Shug! William is the classic definition of what little boys do and handsome to boot. Have a blessed Easter, my friend!
ReplyDeleteI got such a kick from you saying he was having a travelling snack buffet across the yard!! The cake is gorgeous and fun. I love watching the squirrels.
ReplyDeleteI love the William Tale... he is sooo cute. We had no plastic eggs when I was hunting and my children are 59 and 61 so the had no filled plastic, it was all boiled eggs. IF I had plastic eggs and my children did, we would have done the same thing... what a great way to get the candy... all to ourselves, no sharing. yay... love it.. your ferns are so pretty and all your plans sound perfect. I just read Sam update and will continue to pray. I do think we are numbers and that doctors rarely know what is going on. I am blessed with a really good primary, bob's should be stripped of his medical degree
ReplyDeleteI was already hungry before I read your post, and now I'm practically drooling on my keyboard. I can't believe any school would schedule their prom the day before Easter.
ReplyDeleteI like the way your grandson dealt with his Easter egg findings. Why haven't we all done it that way?!!!
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely things for Easter but too bad about the rain for the prom. Wishing you blessings and a Happy Easter Shug.
ReplyDeleteTrista's Easter bunny cake is amazing. It looks like a lot of time and care goes into making it. Oh my, that squirrel in the parking lot of the steakhouse. I can't believe it was just sitting there amongst all the cars. Not sure what it's feeding on, but it looks like a big piece of something. A sweet picture of little William. The fruit pizza looks delightful, and those rice crispy bunnies look yummy. And you got rain! I always love a rainy day. Happy Easter Shug!
ReplyDelete**your bright pink daisy side bars are pretty. Daisies remind me of my mom. : )
That photo and story of William sure made me smile, a boy after my own heart, smiles. Wishing you a beautiful Easter my friend.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I love more -- William's ritual or that squirrel. (JK, William takes the cake!) Trista's cake looks worthy of a State Fair blue-ribbon!
ReplyDeleteI hope you didn't wear yourself out in the kitchen this afternoon, doing what you do for Love!
Lovely photos and post, dear Shug. Have a blessed Easter, dear friend ๐งก
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that Sam has had three good days -- thank you for telling us. Continued prayers and love. ❤️
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter! I hope you all have a wonderful day. ❤️
DeleteThe cake is amazing - there's so much work in it.
ReplyDeleteLove the Header...Happy "Easter to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful meal. Have a wonderful and blessed Easter.
ReplyDeleteOh how cute "Eat and Run" Why mess with the egg when you can have the treat!! So adorable. Love all you cakes and sweets. We have a tradition at Thanksgiving. For more years that I can remember (like 40) I have made a "Turkey Cake" for the grandchildren. Just a two layer german chocolate cake with coconut pecan icing, but the best part is the kids draw the Turkey and we put it on the cake with wooden peg and lots of colored cut our feathers for the tail. I love traditions that last over the years. Love you Bunny Cake.
ReplyDeleteMy three-year-old great-grandson did the same as your William. Find an egg, check what's in it, eat the treat, and toss the plastic shell.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of the squirrel.
I agree with Meverly that Trista's cake looks worthy of a state fair blue ribbon.
