April Flowers and Tiny Wings of Hope

We have rain this morning!!  So needed!!

I woke up this morning to the soft, steady rhythm of an April shower tapping against the window. I am so loving this gentle blessing falling from the sky.

I lingered in bed a while longer, listening to the raindrops hitting the roof, the window, and all of the soft places in between.  This is exactly what we have been needing. Woo Hoo!!

🌺🌻🌺🌻🌺🌻🌺🌻

Y'all....we had our very first hummingbird on Tuesday!!  I was able to snap a picture from my phone, but it is not real clear.  I find it amazing how these tiny birds find the feeders so quickly.  Every year, like clockwork, they show up, and this is something that never gets old. I Love seeing their little wings as they flap in speed of 50 to 80 times per second.  (I had to look this info up)

I've not been able to find the "Esperanza" plant that the hummingbirds love...Still a little early for the nurseries to have them out.

And our "Turks Caps" are just now leafing out!  I think it might be another month before the hummers can feed on the red and yellow eye catching blooms of these popular plants.

We usually have both of these beautiful plants planted all around the pool...Adds a lot of color to the back yard and they really attract the butterflies as well as the hummers.

Hope you all get rain (if you need it) and maybe even a hummingbird or two or three or four, stopping by your place.

🌺🌻🌺🌻🌺🌻🌺🌻🌺

Sam and I both agreed this morning that we feel "FREE" today!  No appointments of any kind today!!

See Y'all tomorrow!!

Shug..🌺

We had a shower yesterday and it was much needed both for the plants and for the humans who have been inhaling all the pollen in the air

  7. I just read your update ... yes, I agree, and I wish it was not so, but our customer service regarding our health care seems to be getting worse. My poor friend Judy drove an hour to an appointment, to find out it was canceled.
I am sending prayers for Sam!! And you!! Enjoy your FREE DAY!!!

  10. Love the beauty of this post so much dear Shug! Hummingbirds are my absolute favorite bird and have been my spiritual "visitors" or sign when loved ones have past. And I am living through you with the Spring rains and flowers bursting forth (as we're currently dealing with a blizzard swirling out our windows). So thank you for sharing so I can enjoy some Spring goodness! Lol Wishing you and your family a very blessed and joyous Easter. ✝️🐰🌸

  15. So the doctor had not looked at the latest C.T. scan yet? Good grief, as if you haven't had to wait long enough. We did get rain, and hail, too! This Hummer looks different from the regular ones, it has a white collar. I love your cute modern Easter header!

  16. I hope some of that rain is headed across the gulf towards us. It's supposed to be raining right now, but I can't see anything. Praying it is coming. Happy for you to have some, as I know you need it too. And I love the hummingbird! Yes, they are here too! 'tis the season!! Thank you for sharing the beauty and joy with us! Have a blessed Easter weekend!

  17. "Yay" for free spaces on your calendar!!!
To answer your question, yes, I sometimes wonder if Tom's health concerns are (sometimes) being observed like one might a science experiment. That sounds harsh, but I do miss Marcus Welby. Still praying!

  19. I'm gad you got some rain, Shug! We had rain yesterday and the day before, and I loved it as well. It always makes my heart smile when it rains, as it is much needed. Oh, those hummers are starting to come around now. These are such pretty flowers around your pool. I had a blog friend who had the Lantana flowering bush that used to attract the hummingbirds. It's actually a pretty flower. No appts today - that's good to hear, Shug. I love that first picture of your yard all wet with rain! : )

  23. Shug, I've been ill this week and haven't made it around to do much blog reading, so I am just seeing your update on Sam. Yes, I understand about feeling like a number in the medical field...and I understand your frustration with the doctor who indicated a CT scan, and you had to remind him that Sam had just had one. I'm so sorry to learn that there is a nodule on Sam's lung and that it is growing. It's not exactly what I prayed for, but we trust God as we continue in our prayers for you and Sam.

Hummingbirds are a delight to watch, aren't they? You did a great job of capturing the picture of the one at your feeders. We still have a couple of weeks yet before they show up in our area...usually around the 15th of April.

Our pear trees are both in full bloom this morning, but it will remain to be seen if we get any fruit this year. While the temperatures have been in the 70s and 80s this week, next week they are to plummet to the 20s and 30s at night next week with the highs in the 40s and 50s.

I'm glad that you received some rain. We have been having rain also. In fact, Wednesday evening we had a hailstorm!

In case I don't get back by for a visit, I wish you and Sam a blessed Resurrection Day and a special time with family on Easter. xx

  24. I love watching hummingbirds. Just have not been too successful getting any to visit my balcony. I keep trying though by planting wildflower seeds that claim to attract hummingbirds and butterflies.. Maybe this will be the year.

  25. Very, very cool on the humming bird. I'm with you. I love that sound of rain and that's good because we've had so much of it that the lawn needs mowed. I do so love this time of year. Happy Easter 🐣
