Say Yes to Tacos

Listen for the crunch in this post

Taco Tuesday… Do You Participate?  Or does Taco Tuesday quietly pass you by without a single taco in sight?

In my state, most people can't get enough of them...  🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮

Soft or crunchy, beef or chicken, loaded or simple...Tacos are big!!

One thing that strikes me funny is how this one meal has managed to claim an entire day of the week...AND

I often wonder how this day came about??  Did a individual come up with it, or was this a move from the restaurants to bring in more Tuesday business?  I'm thinking then latter.

So tell me......Do you celebrate this day?  Do you make them at home or go out somewhere? Do you pile everything on....or keep it simple?

..... We love tacos around here, but no taco is complete without being dressed in a little ketchup and a good spoonful of my pear relish.  I know it sounds odd adding a "smidgen" of ketchup, but this is something my family has always done.

Our local Dairy Queen offers a deal every Tuesday and the drive through line is always backed up. Another simple reason why I fix tacos at home.... I can't really say that I love (sorry, LIKE) the tacos they make, but we do sometimes stop by.  I prefer making my own and us adding the extra goodness on them.

Funny thing....Just recently (the DQ),  went from $1.00 taco night to $1.25 taco night...slight increase!!

I can't help but think that my blogging friend "Billie Jo" and her family might turn Taco Tuesday into a big festive midweek fun day.  Decorations would sure pump up the fun!!

Sometimes it’s not even about the tacos.  I think the bargain price is what pulls people into the love of Taco Tuesday.

Who knew a simple tortilla could turn an average Tuesday into a celebration??  LONG LIVE TACO NIGHT!!

Shug.....🌮

  1. Taco Tuesday is not something I participate in but sometimes I wish I did. The only time we have tacos is the takeaway one's from Taco Bell and that's not very often. I love the sound of ketchup and pear relish on them!

  2. Tacos are popular here in California as well. I remember back in the late 60's early 70's my favorite Taqueria used to sell tacos at .20 each! 🌮They made their own sauce that would warm my lips but oh hung so good and not stingy with the meat either! I don't actually celebrate on any particular day and sometimes my taco cravings does land on Taco Tuesday. We eat tacos or a burrito at least once a week or more. It's no different than a sandwich if I have the fixings ready!
Not so sure about the ketchup. 🤔

  3. I love this post. We don't actually celebrate Taco Tuesday, but we do have tacos (or a version of them) maybe every other week. The kids sometimes come over and Rose and I put the stuff together to make them. I prefer mine more as a taco salad. Hubby likes his in a soft flour tortilla, the kids like theirs in those nacho cheese taco shells. Everybody does whatever they prefer, and it's fun and so good. We do have a Taco Bell here in our little town. It's been here over a year, and I've yet to go there! We had a few people get food poisoning from there, so that's kind of kept me away! LOL. This was fun. Thanks!

  4. Danny makes the best tacos! We have them whenever the spirit moves him, so it isn't confined to Tuesday. I truly enjoy eating them. Blessings, Shug!

  6. I do really like tacos even though I use meat substitutes. I have not officially celebrated taco Tuesday but I have made Taco Parties in the past. Bring tacos on!! They are always fun and delicious.

    1. Tacos are easy especially if you have a party or a big crew coming for dinner. I prefer the crunch shells and Sam prefers the tortillas..

  8. I definitely say yes to Tacos !! Since hubby isn't into spicy or "hot" ours are a bit on the wimpy side. We do make them with flour tortillas so they are actually more like a burrito. We usually have them once a week but it seems it never makes it to be Taco Tuesday. HaHa. So today its baked chicken breasts instead.
Love those fancy dishes , the colors are wonderful.
Boy now all I can think about is a crunchy taco with sour cream, Guac. beans, beef, cheese and some picante or pico de gallo sauce. Yumm-O.

  9. Well, no, we don't celebrate Taco Tuesday (we're actually having meatloaf for supper tonight) but I did make taco soup over the weekend, and we finished that up at noon yesterday.

    1. We are having a big salad tonight...no taco here today. Honestly...we have tacos a lot but not usually on Taco Tuesday...Tuesday's are ballgame days which means we usually grab something on the way to the game...usually subway sandwiches..

  10. Tacos aren't as big here. But there are food trucks that park in various places and sell them. I do like them, but I like burritos better. And Spanish rice, which I make quite a bit and is really fast and easy. Rice, protein, tomato sauce, Mexican spices...

  11. Tacos were not on my plans for today, but after reading your post, I wish they were!!! Ha-ha! Love tacos. I find the soft tortilla tends to be less messy for me, but if somebody else is assembling a taco for me, I won't turn down a crunchy taco shell.

As for ketchup, can't say I have ever used ketchup on a taco but I put it on so many other things that I'm sure this extra 'red sauce' would be just fine!

This is a fun post, and yes, I agree with you that Billie Jo would make Taco Tuesday very festive.

    1. LOL... Tacos are not on my menu today either. We had Mexican food last evening, so I think we will skip Taco Tuesday. Don't you know that Billie Jo will have her table decorated up...even with a dessert..

  12. That sounds like fun. I haven't had a taco in years, but I enjoyed reading this post. ❤️

  13. I love tacos, but at home I am more likely to use the ingredients in a deconstructed way....think refried beans topped with tomatoes, avocado, and cheese served with tortilla chips.

  14. Guess what I had for dinner tonight? And no, I didn't realize it was taco Tuesday. I LOVE tacos, and have them any day of the week. I stuff them with whatever I have. My nephew told me once that I could sell them. He ate one right after another one day. But the trick to mine is deep frying the tortillas, and sprinkling a little parmesan over them. That makes them even better. Californians love their tacos too, Shug. And Dairy Queen? Oh, I used to get their tacos all the time in my hometown. They were so good. Haven't had one there in forever. Your pear relish sounds interesting. Here's to tacos Shug! ; )
