No change..Big Lesson

* Note:  I did not explain the Irish pudding very well in yesterday's post.  I actually called it by the wrong name. NOT Chocolate pudding.....it is "Black Pudding!"  Black Pudding is made out of Pigs blood, barley, seasonings and sometimes mountain oysters.  Not at all anything I would eat.

When "No change" turns into a Big Lesson....💛💛

We all make mistakes.  Little ones....big ones...and then there are those moments that leave us sitting there thinking....well...what just happened.

Sunday evening, Sam and I went into town to grab a bite to eat.  Nothing fancy...just one of those easy, comfortable meals where the conversation is good and the atmosphere is LOUD. (The Loud was definitely NOT planned)  We honestly did not know that the restaurant was going to be as loud as it was.

We had the sweetest young lady waiting on us.  She was very attentive, kind and just one of those people who checked on us several times throughout the meal. She made sure we had everything we needed, and she kept our iced tea glasses full throughout the meal.

As we were finishing up, Sam stepped away to the restroom, and I stayed at the table waiting on the ticket.  I had a $100 dollar bill in my hand and, when the waitress came back, I asked her:

"Do you have change for a hundred?"

Well....

What she heard was:

"NO CHANGE"

She paused....looked at me...and her eyes got big.

"Oh my goodness," she said, "thank you!!! This is such a sweet blessing...y0u have no idea how much I needed this."

"👀 👀 👀 👀 👀 👀"

Y'all...I just sat there.

FROZEN.....

STUNNED...

Somewhere between wanting to clarify and not wanting to crush that beautiful moment for her, my brain completely short-circuited. I didn't know what to say...so..I said nothing.

And just like that, our $36.21 dollar meal turned into a $36.21 plus a VERY NICE TIP meal.  ($63.79 tip)

I met Sam out at the car and I told him what had happened...I'm sure I still had that "Did that just happen" look on my face.

With a smile and his calm wisdom that he carries so well, he said...

"God sure has ways of putting us on the spot when He plans to bless others."

Well....that will preach, won't it?

I'm thankful for the beauty in our blunders!!  Sometimes our awkward moments become God's perfect timing and sometimes....what feels like "oh no" turns into "oh wow."

Sometimes, God uses our mistakes to make something meaningful.

Shug...💛💛💛

    1. One thing that Sam and I have always agreed on is that if we do not have the extra money to help others then we do not have the money for us to go eat. Thankful we had this opportunity..

    1. I was a bit shocked, but Sam quickly realize that it's not our money anyways...it all belongs to God and if He arranged for my path to cross with this young lady, then it blesses me

  8. Oh, what a beautiful story, Shug. You made that young woman's day. So good of you to give her that extra something. And Sam was such a trooper to go along with it. And it sounds like she really needed it in her life too. What a special thing you and Sam did.
And the chocolate pudding.....no, not for me. ; )

    1. It's a no for me too on the black pudding. I just could not say anything after her sharing that she really needed it. I'm thankful God blessed us enough to bless a young lady.

  10. I agree with all who said she needed, it and God put your there in a LOUD restaurant with that 100 dollar bill. Keep an eye out, I have done similar things for people and was surprised when a few days or weeks later, I got that money back in a blessing. good job

  11. The story is a blessing too. That was shocking, but it sounds like it blessed you two just as much as it blessed her.

  12. Thanks for the explanation about the Chocolate Pudding and the Blood Pudding. I actually googled Chocolate Pudding in Ireland, and it described something delicious and I was puzzled. I thought perhaps it was just a bit too sweet for you for breakfast. :) But now that I know you meant Blood Pudding I would have to agree with you. It's been offered at different Celtic Fairs in our area before and I just pass it up. :)
What a tremendous way that God used you in blessing that young woman. Thank you for being an instrument of His grace, my friend.
I am wondering how things went with Sam's scan or if you have heard yet?

  14. Your story about the blessed meal got me all teary eyed. God sure moves in ways we can never anticipate. Sometimes its mind boggling to be someone's answer to prayer.
There's an old hymn that says "Out on the highways and byways of life,
    many are weary and sad:
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife
    Making the sorrowing glad.
    Make me a blessing,
    Make me a blessing.
Out of my life may Jesus shine:
Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray.
Make me a blessing to someone today.
    (((hugs)))

  15. Wonderful story and how brave of you to say nothing and let her have a "good day". God will surely bless you.

As for English breakfast (or Irish). Fried eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, black AND white pudding, baked beans, and hash brown. Plus toast and marmalade. Coffee or tea.
You are right, black pudding is made with pig's blood. White pudding with oats. Bon appetit!

    God bless.
