Little Pieces of a Full Day.

Little pieces of a full Day.

It was a long night here in East Texas.  The work began around 8:00 p.m.

The road in front of our home is a Farm to Market road that usually carries a steady hum of quiet country traffic.  Well....it came alive last night in a whole different way.  The highway department began resurfacing it last week, and their work happens after the sun goes down.  Last night, they were hard at it again.

We could hear the low growl of machines as they ground up the old pavement, followed by a steady rhythm of fresh asphalt being laid down.  We lost a little sleep, however, I am thankful to have a smooth new road to drive on.

Sam and I both are enjoying a quieter morning today!

Hummingbird Time!!

Yesterday afternoon, I stepped outside and grabbed the hummingbird feeders that have been resting all winter.  I cleaned them out, filled them up fresh, and got them hung.  Now, we wait for the buzzing of the hummers to come and bring life back to the yard.

Earlier in the week, the pool cleaning company came out and gave our pool a good cleaning.  They also washed and cleaned the filters, so now we have a very clean pool...ready for the season.  I love seeing the clear water...especially during the evening hours when the light is on.

Resurfaced roads, freshly filled feeders and clean water waiting for my swimmers.  Life is Good!

Just some little pieces of a Full Day!

  1. Oh, that pool is dazzling. How pretty it must look at night with the lights. And those hummers are sure to come around now that you filled the feeders. And thank you for cleaning that feeder - it's sparkling. I've seen some that were very dirty, and I often wonder how that can be good for the precious birds. I'm so glad those workers improved the roads near your home, and it will be a smoother path for you to drive on now. All these little things make our hearts happy, especially that hot cup of coffee on a quiet morning. I am having mine right now reading one of my favorite blogs. ; ) Have a dear Holy Week, Shug.

  2. Here we have year-round hummers and several feeders. About every other day we clean them on the top shelf of the dishwasher and we make our own homemade sweet nectar for our little buddies! They're so used to us, they come looking for one of us, when they're feeder is empty. Personable little birds!
    Your pool is beautiful.

  6. A life full of blessings ...new roads, clean bird feeders and a beautiful pool all sparkly clean for the season! I am going to continue to pray for Sam's appointment on Wednesday...praying that the doctor will have good results to share with you.
And by the way, Psalm 73:26 on your sidebar is a favorite verse of mine.

  8. I wouldn't be happy with losing sleep but at least you have the smooth new road. They have been filling in holes on the road in front of my house recently but only work during the day.
How wonderful to have the hummingbirds coming back and to get your pool cleaned. It looks so pretty!

  9. Yes, signs of Spring and things fresh and new! Your pool is so beautiful and love how it is lit up at night. I bet it helps beat the heat in southern summers a lot! And I love that you feed the hummingbirds. :) I would but it attracts the hornets and we get too many of them already. So my hummingbird visitors get treated to my pots of flowers and they seem okay with that too. I dreaming on seeing them again! It will be a while up north here yet. Blessings on your week ahead dear Friend! xo

  10. I love seeing your evening pool! I have never seen it from this perspective, and you don't post the pool very often. I do remember the beautiful flowers around it, though. Ginny

  11. I understand why road work must be accomplished after dark, but that had to be soooo annoying when the two of you are already exhausted!
Now that you mention it, our bird feeders are in sorry shape. Tom used to so enjoy watching them cavort, but no longer feels so led. I may ask our neighbors if they'd like to have them.
Your pool looks like a resort!

  12. At our old house I tried to attract hummingbirds with a feeder, but wasn't good about remembering to keep it clean and took it down. I thought it was more important to keep the birds safe.

  13. I was wondering where my comment went. Apparently I commented on yesterday's post. Whew at least I commented. Sometimes these senior moments come too often. (:0)

  17. Sounds like spring is in the air and things are shaping up. I marvel at seeing a hummingbird . I don't see one very often in my garden. They are so lovely but then again I don't do anything special to attract them. Hope you are back to getting your sleep.

  19. Shug, I have to comment on Mylee's blanket first - I love that she still loves it. Both of my boys had "woobies" as we called them. I kept one for the longest time and then gave it to the boy to keep or toss. The other day I was at Ted's house and I saw his "pup pup" laying on the floor and it just brought me to tears. These are things of comfort :) Also, I don't think there is any town/road in Texas that isn't under construction! Beaumont is horrible with all the work being done. I often wonder if it's all across the nation or just here. But glad you got a nice, smooth road out of it!
