1. America celebrates turning 250 years old this year. Primary cities set to lead the celebrations on July 4th are Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington D.C. Other significant locations for celebrating will be Charleston SC and the 'historic triangle' which includes Jamestown-Willimasburg-Yorktown Virginia.

I have been Blessed to visit a few of these historic cities..  Washington D.C. especially makes you pause and remember the sacrifices that built this country.

Of the cities listed how many have you seen in person? Of the cities listed which would you most like to visit this year? Any plans to do so? What's one place in America you think everyone should see? If you're not American what's one place in the US you'd like to see?

I have visited Philadelphia, New York and Washington D.C.

No plans to visit these places this year.

The Grand Canyon is a place that I think everyone should see.  So massive and pictures do not do it justice. It is a place that reminds you how small we are and how big God is.

2. Three sounds you love to hear?

My grandchildren laughing with those kind of belly laughs that fills the whole room.

Rain...I love the sound of a small gentle rain!

A river!! ...LOVE, love, love the sound of water moving over the rocks.

3. Three sounds you hate to hear?

People chomping Ice or smacking gum!

Crickets in the house!

Coyotes.  Their howl is so terrifying.

4. February 24th is/was National Tortilla Chip Day. Are you a fan? With salsa, guacamole, queso, or just plain please? Do you like nachos? With what on top? Is there anything (besides nachos) you make that calls for tortilla chips?

I am most definitely a fan of tortilla chips.  I am fairly simple when it comes to my nachos...bean and cheese only, with sour cream, jalapenos, and guacamole.  NO meat for me please.

I make taco soup and usually serve this with the scoops chips.

5. We March into March with next week's Hodgepodge...what's one thing on your March calendar that makes you smile?

Longer daylight hours! Yay!  One thing on my March calendar that makes me VERY happy is my trip to Ireland!!  I am overly excited and the best part is that I am taking this trip with my two daughters and one of my granddaughters.  Mylee's school has a week set aside each March for all of the High School students to travel to different locations.  Mylee chose Ireland and I am happy to be joining this group.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I don't "lose things anymore. NO.. I simply place them in strategic locations and forget the strategy.

  1. Hi Friend,
Ireland, how exciting. I am looking forward to hearing all about your trip and seeing photos.
I also love the sound of moving water. I grew up along a river. I could hear it everyday, I loved it.
    Have a great day!

  2. Shug, the Grand Canyon is grand, indeed. I'd love to see it as well. Crickets!....the sound freaks me out too. Your simple nachos and taco soup sound delicious. I loved the 'grandchildren with the belly laughs' answer, as I often have those laugh attacks when I see the little ones. Isn't Ireland beautiful, and so green? What a wonderful trip coming up for you. I know what you mean about the coyotes, and that's what got Nel's cat. It's just awful they come from the mountains and into the neighborhoods. And rain - isn't the sound of rain so pleasant? I enjoyed your hodgepodge this morning, Shug. It's always nice to learn a few things about you too. : )

  3. I really enjoyed your answers here. We were at the Grand Canyon a few years ago and it's awe inspiring! Crickets drive me crazy, so does a fly buzzing in the house. Babys laughing - so good!
Now I want some taco soup with tortillas!

  4. Ireland will be so awesome! I have always wanted to go there. So you will be gone a week? I hope you return with scads of photos! I have never heard a coyote howl for real. I am guessing there are a few around there. And crickets chirping in the house! Frustrating because you don't know where they are, and have to track down the chirp.

  5. You will love Ireland, Shug! It isn't called the Emerald Isle for nothing. I visited there when I was in college and I'll never forget the beauty of the landscape and the warmth of the people. Oh, what memories you'll make! Blessings!

  6. Your trip to Ireland sounds like a dream come true. I know its going to be so special, especially doing it with your daughters and granddaughter.
I have been to Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Washington DC, Jamestown-Williamsburg. Such fabulous places of history. I would like to visit the deep South and Maine.
I agree that everyone should see the Grand Canyon. Its so magnificent.
I hate firecrackers exploding at midnight, someone cracking their knuckles and a dog yapping incessantly.
I can't wait for daylight savings time to begin. Brighter days and longer evenings are wonderful.
Now I am hungry for tortilla chips ... loaded ... and some taco soup...yummm
    Have a great day Shug

I love the sounds of a babbling brook, baby giggles and the morning bird serenade.

  9. I visited those cities years ago - I am sad to say I bet they are different now. I am thrilled you are going to Ireland on a girl's trip. Good memories. Love tortillas and nachos and all the toppings. We are going Mexican for my birthday Friday. Love the Grand Canyon. I love to hear Mackenzie laugh. I don't like to hear her cry!

  10. Shug, I love reading your answers to the questions. I feel like it helps me get to know you better. I've been to all the cities in the past and this year will probably pass through Washington DC on my return back to Philadelphia for the summer. We have a military cemetery in Washington Crossing, Pa. How wonderful to be looking forward to your trip to Ireland- sounds exciting.

  12. I’ve never been to Philadelphia, but have been to all the other places, plus Lexington and Concord. I’m excited about your trip to Ireland. Andy and I took a tour there in 1965. Good memories. ❤️

  13. Laughing out loud at your final thought, Shug!
Let's see ... I've visited all those cities as a child, but (aside from NYC) I've few memories. I just mentioned the Grand Canyon to another blogger -- it's so much more than what videos can capture.
Nachos are one of my favorite food groups, but I don't allow myself that luxury so often, except to put them in salads as a substitute for croutons.

  14. I said exactly the same for question #1. I don't think any photo does the Grand Canyon justice!
I am looking forward to the clocks changing in March and more daylight! How cool to be visiting Ireland and that Mylee's school has a week set aside to travel!

  15. Dear friend, your photos are beautiful. I am not very familiar with tacos or tortillas. I believe I may have tried either or both decades ago. My fear 😨 of Mexican and Indian food is that they are usually hot and spicy and I am not fond of eating foods that burn my tongue or throat. I love herbs 🌿 and spices, ♥️ just not hot.
Your last paragraph made me laugh out loud 🤣 😂 😄
