My dear neighbor, Dotta.....the one I've spoken about so many times through the years...💛💛💛
I am thankful for my neighbor....
Joining Michelle today
It still makes me smile that she was my 5th grade teacher, and somehow life keeps circling us back together. We have both moved over the years.. She has moved..we have moved...seasons have changed....addresses have changed, and yet we always end up neighbors again. This feels like more than coincidence to me... God winks!! This is exactly God's goodness upon both of us.
Dotta and I have so much in common. The way we raised our families as well as the value that we both place on our homes. It's the love we pour into the little details and especially our shared joy of decorating. If there is a season, a holiday or any reason to celebrate, I can assure you that she is already three steps ahead of it.
I have to share her absolutely gorgeous Easter tree with all of you. Is this not the happiest thing you've ever seen? The oversized blue bow is perched proudly at the top, and then she had the pastel ribbons dancing all the way down....PLUS the whimsical garland of colorful eggs winding through the branches. I told her that it looks like Spring took over her sitting room. Even the little yellow wrap at the base of the tree looks creative and cheerful.. This lady amazes me.
Dotta is 87 years YOUNG!! This lady moves with purpose and she certainly plans with excitement. She inspires me more than she probably realizes. In her case, it is clear that creativity does not age out.
She has been my teacher in more ways than one.... In the classroom way back in 1965, and now in life, she teaches me that friendship can span decades and that hearts run deep..
Great job Dotta....Your tree is gorgeous. I love You!!
Shug...💛💙💜💚

What a lovely, lasting relationship.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful friend you have there. Rich bonds that are never broken ... I love that and I love your new border too.

I love this and I am so glad you two are friends. That tree is awesome.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! Wow, to think your 5th grade teacher is still very much alive and well and enjoying the sweet things of life! Love her tree! I'm wondering now if you were "the teacher's pet"! LOL. I have a feeling you must've been, and still are!
ReplyDeleteI adore Dotta's Easter tree! Indeed, she's never let her creativity and sense of design get old. It's miraculous that you all have continued to come in and out of each other's lives since your fifth grade year. That most certainly IS a God wink! Blessings, Shug!
ReplyDeleteShe sounds like quite a lady! I love the long history you have with her. The tree is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed by her being in your life as a constant. Teaching goes far beyond the classroom, though I imagine you also teach her.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun tree!
ReplyDeletethat is unusual, to move next to each other more than one time. Of course I did school in 3 different states so no teachers that I know now or remember.. this is really a God Wink, and meant to be... you are both blessed to again be neighbors... and also sharing the love of decorating
ReplyDeleteYou are both blessed to have one another! ❤️
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome! What a special and enduring friendship. And what a glorious tree - just wow! 😍 I think age is just a number and it sure sounds like Dotta has proved that. Blessings to you both. 💗
ReplyDeleteI love this post! Dotta sounds like an amazing lady! My grandmother was a teacher and always loved it when she would run into one of her students... They always remembered her! She loved it even more when she lived by them. What a beautiful tree, she is truly creative!
ReplyDeleteWow. What a testament to friendship, the true kind that withstands the test of time! We all need a Dotta in our lives. I am glad you have her!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful relationship. I can't even remember the name of my fifth grade teacher!
ReplyDeleteDotta sounds like an exceptional person and how fortunate that you are friends. I love here tree and that she is still expressing herself at her age. Thank you for linking up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing Dotta is to you, and I loved hearing about how she continues to teach and inspire you. I had a few teachers in school that I remained in touch with for many years. Now, they have all passed away. I'm sorry to hear about Sam's appointment and that there's more fluid than the last visit. Praying, my friend, praying. xx
ReplyDeleteYour and Dotta's friendship honestly sounds like something out of Hollywood -- but you (and she) know better, right? God's blessings arrive in all shapes and forms; I'm so glad the two of you are on His receiving end.
ReplyDeleteThat Easter tree may be the cutest thing I've ever seen! Thank you for sharing it with us.
Wow! That tree is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYour friendship with Dotta is amazing too (the way you've come in and out of each other's lives all those times). Definitely a one of a kind, wonderful relationship.
She sounds like a wonderful person. I love the tree and what a clever idea with the two baskets and the eggs running from one to the other.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful idea to have the Easter tree and such a beautiful story of your relationship. I love how you said, " life keeps circling us back together". So nice that you appreciate each other , .
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful friendship. She sounds like a wonderful friend to have and her creativity is still going strong! What a sweet blessing.

How wonderful that you and Dotta keep coming into each others lives. That Easter tree is beautiful and what a fun way to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteDear Shug, This is a wonderful post about Dotta. Even her name is fun and I love that she made an Easter Tree. How fun is that? I remember growing up and seeing eggs outside hanging on trees. Now I see giant bunnies and all that fun springgggeeee stuff. Love that. Also love the purple backing with the daisies. This yellow, white, purple is one of my MOST fave combos. LOOOOOOOOOVE it. 💜
ReplyDeleteOh Shug. The Easter egg tree is so amazing, creative, and enchanting! (I just wrote a comment but I think I lost it somehow, so I'm writing another one.) Dotta sounds like a truly amazing human being. I am so happy she is your teacher from childhood and now neighbor! That is truly wonderful. Gosh, I've never seen anything like that tree. Hope your weekend is good each day, from dawn to dusk. Warmly, Susan
