Well....it is a very icy morning here in East Texas. I would say that the morning arrived wearing ice in style.
The second wave of moisture slipped in late last night. It was very quiet like a thief preying upon the countryside. lol. Roads are slick and for sure all of our steps are demanding a little respect. As you can see in the above picture, my pool has officially decided to downsize for the season. The ice has nudged its edges inward across the pool cover.
Still, there is good news worth celebrating. We have kept our power!! The pool pump in humming along and faithfully doing its job, keeping the water moving.
What strikes me this morning isn't just the ice...it's the reminder that movement matters. (Like the movement of the pool water). when things get cold, stiff, or a little overwhelming, staying in motion can make all the difference. We just need to keep circulating...keep showing up...keep breathing...keep trusting that what's flowing won't freeze. I keep telling my body to keep moving...😅
We even have a few tiny icicles hanging around. Kind of reminds me of winter's jewelry. Pretty from a distance, but best admired without touching. I know that these are very tiny...but they still count as icicles.
I can tell you that today, I am very grateful for electricity and working pumps. I'm also grateful for lessons that come disguised as icy mornings. Winter may have it's way of shrinking a few things, but it doesn't get to stop what is meant to keep going. I consider this a big WIN!!
My prayers go out to all of you and the ones across the country who are still facing the arrival of this Winter Blast. Stay safe my friends...Make wise decisions when it comes to the Winter freeze, and Keep warm.

DeleteOh wow, Shug. You DID get ice. It looks so beautiful on the tree branches. I'm hunkering down here in Massachusetts. I'm not setting foot outiside the front door, unless there's some kind of an emergency. "THIS, TOO, SHALL PASS" is how I handle winter storms (and everything else! ha ha) Have a safe and comfy day!
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy seeing the ice on the tree branches and such. I've not seen many cars passing by, which tells me the roads are not good.

37 is still pretty cold so I do hope you and Dave are staying warm. Thank you so much for your prayers for Sam. He has had a few issues with wanting to sleep a lot these past few days. Could be the weather too though. love you!
DeleteYou make me smile! And there you are outside trampling around in it for photos! I do the same thing. Lol. It's cold here in the morning but warms up later. Today we're supposed to be cloudy all day. I can't complain. We've had pleasant weather and temperatures all month. Ahhh, but we still have February and March which have been the months when we get a rouge snow storm. We're over due. It's been about 5/6 years.

DeleteWell, that's a start to maybe getting snow, Shug. Your pictures are pretty. I love when we get snow, but when we get icy snow, it hardens, and it's really difficult to shovel. So glad your power is still going strong. And the lake on the farm is lovely. I always think that the animals and birds must be freezing in cold temperatures, but they adapt, as the wild is their home, and nature takes care of them. And I loved your words on keep moving, keep showing up, keep trusting. I'll return this weekend to see if you got any snow yet, Shug. ; )

ReplyDeleteI know you do miss Colorado at certain times of the year. Our grandson in Colorado Springs sent us a picture this morning...Snow on the ground and covering their deck out back.

DeleteI love your description of icicles as winter's jewelry! I am so glad you are doing well and have power! It snowed here all night and we are to get freezing rain from 4 till 8. I am still hoping for the best, but so many hours of freezing rain does not bode well for the power lines.

ReplyDeleteI woke up this morning expecting to see a winter wonderland, but there's no snow or ice on the trees, although there's a lot of icy snow on the ground.
Feeling grateful we have power, my apartment feels toasty, and I don't have to go out.
Good thing not to have to go out in this kind of cold and ice. Our schools are closed until Wednesday.
