What could this be?
My Foxtail ferns are wrapped up!!
They are covered with a blanket and then with a couple of trash bags to keep the precipitation off of them.
Excitement is stirring inside of me just from seeing the early forecast for this next weekend.
Y'all....we may get SNOW ⛄❄
This possibility is enough to send my imagination straight into overdrive.
I am not rooting for any ice because it can be rude and sneaky. I would rather it stay far away. But the snow? It is very welcome.
Snow is festive and I love how beautiful the white fluffy stuff is and how magical it looks. It Sparkles when the sun shines on it..
Of course, you all already know this.
I know many of you have already had your fair share of snow, but around here it is like getting a big gift and one that I gladly welcome. I've already caught myself doing all kinds of things. I made a big pot of chile...it's in the freezer now...just waiting for the COLD. I also have all the ingredients to make vegetable soup.
The thought of bundling up, pulling out coats that do not get much use, finding the gloves that wait patiently in a drawer all year, digging out the waterproof boots...
Now this just adds to the EXCITEMENT.
Here is another thing I really love about the possibility of snow. It brings people together. Conversations at the grocery store spark. Smiles appear on faces and there is a shared sense of wonder all around.
Even if the snow doesn't come....even if it's just the cold air....there is still something good waiting. Being thankful for a nice warm home, for hot coffee, for a warm fireplace and the simple gift of being able to pause and rest.
Maybe this adds to the inspiration hidden in all of my excitement.
Life doesn't always give us guarantees...Sometimes it only gives us possibilities and I am fine with this.
However, I will be happy to welcome snow, while politely declining any ice. I'll be happy just to let my heart stay open to wonder.
Just a few more days and we shall see what happens.. STAY TUNED!!

I hope you get your snow! Chili and soup is perfect for that weather.
It looks like a sparkling cake here, everything is covered in snow. Bob is getting ready to go do some more snow blowing.
I hope you get your snow. We get it even less than you do and to me it is just magical.
My hope for you is Snow and No Ice, I can tell how badly you want it... I am eagerly waiting for 4 more days of our cold to leave us, and its sunshine and 42 degrees. brrrr. I want our no sweater winter weather... I am to old to Cold
I hope you get some snow. We haven’t had any measurable snow for about 4-5 years and it would be awesome and I would be feeling just like you! Usually, our coldest months are February and March so we still have time to wish and wonder.
Meanwhile I am enjoying the warm sunshine.
Growing up in Chicago, snow is one of my hubby's least favorite things -- and I'm exactly the opposite, go figure. Ice? Yep, that's a whole 'nother story. I'll never forget the year I lived in Abilene and was scheduled to fly out on Christmas eve -- except the all of DFW was paralyzed by an ice storm. Fortunately, I've only witnessed one whimpy dusting in the 8 years we've lived here, since no-one knows how to drive.
I'm crossing my fingers, you'll have a reason to do a happy dance in the snow!
I hope you get snow - I am hoping for snow as well. It has been years. We are from Chicago - who knows how to handle it, but Atlanta - it is crazy and exciting. Good luck,
Oh, I hope and pray you'll only get snow and no ice, Shug! We are a bit apprehensive about our forecast because it looks like the rain will come first and then turn into ice before the snow can start. If that's the case, we will not be in good shape. Let's both pray for just snow! Stay warm!

I'm thinking you hardly ever get snow there. So you will have a ball! And post photos! We are to get quite a bit of snow Saturday night and Sunday. Likely the churches will be closed. I love the snow and hate the ice!
I love snow "from afar". I know you will enjoy the specialness of it.
Ice would be so scary. We have hit a few patches of Black Ice when we went up to the Sierras. That was no fun at all.
But the positive note is the memories of our boys playing in the snow and going down hills on saucers. The laughing and wipeouts were something else.
We need to see pictures of that white stuff when it falls.

While my days of happy anticipation of snow are behind me, I remember feeling as you do. I hope you get the snow and all the joys that come with it -- especially enjoying the chili and vegetable soup!!

I wish I could share in your excitement over snow. I will admit it's pretty expecially when it looks all glittery in the sunshine but I'm so over it

We have snow in our forecast as well. Supposed to be getting up to 20" over the weekend. If we do, it will be the first big snow this winter. (My Wordless Wednesday picture was from the archives--not a recent one.)
Oh, I do hope you get some snow, Shug, as your excitement is contagious. It really is magical to look out the window and see the neighborhood dressed in white, especially if it's a soft snow. And you're right; it does seem to gather the neighbors together, and they often help out others with whatever needs to be done. It's been so cold there, so there is a very good chance you will get some. I am looking forward to the next few days to find out. But even if you don't get snow, you still have that special attitude that you exude, and you have a big pot of chili or vegetable soup just waiting for you. ; )
Enjoy your short lived snow! I would probably enjoy ours more if it didn't stick around for six months!

We're excited too, Shug!! I'll be going to the store tomorrow to grab a few things and then waiting to see what happens. It was just about one year exactly that we had days of snow here last year. It was so magical! I hope we get some and you too :)

Hope you get snow!! We're supposed to get something!! First it was snow. Now we're hearing maybe sleet and freezing rain. I'm sure the weather folks will know for sure when it gets here. I got to Walmart at 10:00 this morning to stock up. :)
Ohh! You do sound excited about the snow but I suppose being in Texas it is a big thing. I always think of Texas as being so hot! Stay safe and warm!
