1. Ice skating, skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, playing in the snow, or a snowy walk...which winter activity do you choose? Have you done any of these activities so far this winter?

I would choose any of the above if only we had snow.  I suppose I could go someplace where there is plenty of the white fluffy stuff and learn to do each of these.

I've not done any of these Winter activities.

2. Everyone is posting pictures from ten years ago on their social media sites so let's jump on the bandwagon too. Share one photo and one thought to go with said photo from the year 2016. And maybe everyone isn't doing this, but many are and we're going to be part of the fun.

2016....the year I got my new bike.  I fell in love with this hot pink and yellow bicycle.  The Summer before, our family had taken a vacation to Rosemary Beach, Florida and one thing we loved was riding bikes while we were there.   When we got home, I was in search of a bike with a seat that I felt comfortable riding.  It took me a while to find this sweet ride, but being patient led me straight to this BEAUTY.   Year 2016 was sure a good ride....

3. What's a trend you hope disappears in this new year?

Short tops.   Just my opinion here, but ultra short tops feel more like a moment chasing attention than a style built to last.  I think Fashion is at its best when it empowers, not when it pressures people to squeeze into something impractical just to keep up.  I say, bring back tops that cover with ease.  I mean, it's okay to have this kind of clothing in the stores, but please don't let the racks be dominated by tops that barely cover the mid section...

4. 'They' say there's a day for everything and January 21st proves it. National Granola Bar Day. Do you like granola bars? How about just regular granola? Do you like bars of other kinds?

I do like granola bars, but I rarely eat them.  I know that they are fairly easy to make at home and a lot of people do. The good thing about them is that they make for an easy breakfast meal on the run.

5.  A frozen lake, a trickling stream, a raging river, or a deep well...which one describes something about your life right now? Elaborate as much or as little as you like.

I would say that right now, my life feels like a deep well.  On the surface, things may look quiet and steady, but beneath there is a depth of emotions, strength, faith, and endurance that I didn't even know I had.  Some days I draw peace and gratitude from the well, other days I draw patience and resilience.  It's not rushing or frozen...its deep, reflective and sustaining.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Lets see....My coffee is tasting so much better these days.  Slowing down has allowed me to see that a good cup of coffee in the morning comes from sitting still  and not allowing my mind to go a hundred different places.  My coffee has turned into more than a hot drink in the morning....more than caffein.  I am enjoying the rich smell rising from my "IHOP" cup and I have simply been allowing the morning to meet ME where I am.

This little IHOP cup is the perfect size for me...I think it's cute and had always wanted one.  The last time we went to IHOP (which was a good while back)...I asked if I could buy the cup...The sweet hostess gave it to me!!

Blessings to all on this quiet day.

  1. Dear Shug,
Knowing the things that you are going through and how you are dealing with them made your answers to this hodgepodge post even more meaningful. I admire your faith and the ability it gives you to see your current circumstances through a biblical world view. xx

  3. What a wonderful colourful bicycle. I like it.

I agree about short-tops. Why do women wear them if not to attract attention? I did not know where to look !!! Well, I did but I soon got a sharp elbow in the ribs from my wife.

    God bless.

    1. I pressed "Publish" before I finished. I hate it when my computer does that. Praying for you and Sam and family.

Anyway - so much snow here but I'd rather stay inside. I've done the snowy walk though!
I agree on the short tops.
I think your deep well of faith is a huge blessing. Prayers continue!

  6. That bike is fab! I love the colours, it really is a beauty!
I am with you on the short tops! I often pick up something in a shop thinking it looks great and then realise it's cropped and not for me.
For me it is tea on a morning and enjoying it while being still really does make it taste better.

  7. That bicycle is the bomb! Do you still have it and ride?
I totally agree with what you said re. short tops; there was a time I favored bolero jackets but that ship's done sailed.
The deep well? You've given me a whole new perspective ... thank you!
