So.. this afternoon, my youngest daughter called and she was crying. I immediately thought something bad had happened.. I am so thankful that this was not the case.
When she left work today, She stopped by a dollar store, looking for some items that she wanted to pick up for some Christmas games. Her family will be having Christmas this coming weekend . One of their sons lives about 5 hours away and he is on call Christmas day and the following weekend. This coming weekend is the only time that her family can get together.
While she was looking around, she overheard a man and woman talking .... trying to figure out what they could buy for their kids for Christmas on a very limited amount of money. My daughter kept following behind them, trying to figure out if there was any way she could help them. She said she was nervous because she wanted to do the right thing but also she didn't want to offend them.
She said she could no longer hold back and she finally asked them if she could help.. of course, she was crying out of sadness for this couple. The man was so kind and asked if he could please give her a hug. He told her that this had been a very difficult year and that they had no idea how they were going to be able to give anything to their kids, other than some candy and perhaps a couple of little things in their stocking..
I am writing this to say that earlier this morning...this same daughter of mine called me to tell me that she had received a bonus from her school that was much bigger than she had ever received. She was so excited.
This is how God works...Shan had never been to this store before.. It was actually out of her way... But... God had plans for her to be there at the right time for a reason!! Although she had no idea as to why she went to that particular store, I know God directed her there.
Why was she still crying when she called me? Her heart was heavy. Although she did what she could to help this family, she felt a burden.
It is times like this that make us stop and realize that there are so many in this world who just need a favor and when God blesses us, we need to bless others.
I am so proud of her.
