Thanksgiving things to ponder!!
1. When do I start thawing my Turkey?
my answer: I have ordered a Fried Turkey from a restaurant that specializes in Fried Turkeys. 🦃 This year I will let the restaurant worry about when to thaw the turkey. 😂
2. How many desserts are enough?
My answer: can you have too many desserts? I will be offering my family a choice of Coconut Cream Pie....Chocolate Delight...Bourbon Pecan Pie and German Chocolate Cake. Oh..and a Pumpkin Roll.
3. What is your personal goal for this Thanksgiving?
Not to burn anything...
Not to forget anything...
Wear stretchy pants..
Embrace the many Blessings in our lives..
Glorify the Lord.
4. How many side dishes should I fix?
My answer:
I always like to make sure that each of my kiddos have their favorite side dish.. This means...My "famous" Mac and cheese, sweet pot casserole, Green bean casserole, Cream potatoes, corn casserole, and of course, deviled eggs.
woo hoo.. my favorite, the corn bread dressing
5. Do I have enough serving spoons for each of the dishes?
My Answer:
In past years I have been short on serving spoons.. Now, I am fully covered in this area. This group can scoop and scoop!!
6. Have I made room in the freezer for extra ice?
My answer:
absolutely.. I have plenty of ice already on hand. You can't have sweet iced tea with a glass full of ice...
7. Do I have enough seating?
My Answer:
I have a huge round table that seats 8 very comfortably.. There will be 7 of us here for Thanksgiving, which means We all have a place and we won't even have to rub elbows. 🤣
8. Do I have plenty of throw blankets for naps?
My answer:
Yes, yes I do.. Of course, someone will have to use the burnt orange and black "Texas Longhorn" throw but maybe they will be too sleepy to notice! 🤣 We are Aggie fans around here! Why do I even have a Longhorn throw?? 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
I think I'm in good shape to host Thanksgiving?? 👌🏻✔️
Shug.. 🧡

ReplyDeleteGood for you having the turkey done for you, Shug! I hope that Sam can improve enough to truly enjoy this coming Thanksgiving with the family. Keeping you all in my prayers. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYou sound ready to go!
ReplyDeleteI hope Sam is more comfortable now.
Oh, I do hope and pray that Sam will be able to get comfortable in his recliner and rest and heal from the biopsy. Prayers continuing.
ReplyDeleteShug, you are something else. Can I be a part of your family and eat all those wonderful specialities?
What a fun time Thanksgiving is at your home. I definitely would need those stretchy pants !!!
Great idea to have someone else do the turkey. One less thing to have to do.
Oh yes, I could eat every one of those desserts. Man, what a bounty ...

Wow, that's a LOT of good food!! I'm glad you are having the turkey done elsewhere, so you have plenty of room to bake all those pies and casseroles! Sure sounds good! Praying your time together will be extra extra special!! I know it will be. (((HUGS))) for you and Sam both.
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun post, Shug! And I agree...there can never be too many desserts! All of your side dishes sound amazing and good for you for letting the restaurant worry about when to thaw the turkey! I'm sorry to hear that Sam had such a rough night last night. I hope once he's home today that he will be able to be more comfortable. Sending love and prayers.
