I showed Sam this cute little Christmas graphic, and without missing a beat he said, "Well..."It would be easier" if we had a dedicated Christmas house to move into each December....No wait, I mean each November." LOL.
Honestly? This just might be the answer!! Imagine it.....NO dragging tubs from the attic, NO wrestling with tangled garlands, NO mystery ornament stuck in the tree from last year... Just open the door and BAM: Instant Christmas magic, fully furnished and the home smelling like cinnamon.
Of course, this Christmas house would need it's own shed....for all of my extra Christmas decorations. Seriously, I have way too many, but I just can't let go of things. And then, we would have to worry about squirrels (what is it about squirrels?) eating up the outdoor lights.
The thought of a move-in-ready holiday house? Sounds pretty good! Now, my brain is spinning... I can already picture it. A cottage home with evergreen wreaths in every window and twinkle lights everywhere. OH....and cooler weather, maybe a little snow.
It would be like living in pure December bliss. At the end of hmmmm, lets say ... January, just lock up the doors until next year. No hauling and no glitter everywhere.
Oh well...it's nice to dream isn't it? I'm pretty sure there are some folks out there that have this exact setup. Bless their hearts. As for me, I'm gonna keep pulling out the bins and decorating like the overzealous Christmas elf I was born to be.
The truth is, I'm happy right here in our home...messy tubs, tangled lights, glitter explosions and all. Every ornament we unwrap and every wreath hung usually turns out to be a silly moment that feels magical. Why a silly moment? Because one of usually trips over something or hangs something wrong. This is who we are and not only do I love it, but Sam and the rest of the family does too.
Shug...

What a great idea!! Storing, dragging out, setting up and then putting away is a huge job!!!
ReplyDeleteLet's do it! I would love to be able to just walk out of this house and into another one that was already full decorated! However, the reality of that is...it isn't possible. But one can dream. :) Happy Thanksgiving to you, my sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteThat would sure make things easier having a Christmas house. I know many who have cabins in the mountains. Sounds so good to me. Nope, we do our makeshift Christmas house at home, like we've done for years and the tangled lights, and heavy containers are just part of the tradition. I've downsized a lot because my house is little and it's still cozy. That's one thing living in a,small home, it doesn't take much to turn it into a Christmas house!
ReplyDeletePrayers today for the oncology appointment!
Good idea!
ReplyDeleteOR you could just make reservations in a really expensive Hotel that is already decorated, get a suite, take the entire family. ha ha..love all this. no cooking, no decorating, that is what i would do since it all makes me crazy. my entire Christmas decorations are in 4 boxes in the hall closet and i only use 2 of the boxes, the others are about to go to the thrift store.... Sam is a fun person
ReplyDeleteOh, Sam knows you well, wanting to decorate for Christmas in November. Me too. I think I would miss all the fun in decorating if I had a house already decked out for the season. That's what makes it special, bringing out those boxes, and seeing those items that we cherish and love like it was the first time, and Yes, even the mess. ; ) I've never heard of the squirrels eating the outdoor lights. But it wouldn't surprise me, they're such bothersome critters haha. Love your vintage pictures, they are so delightful. Keep decorating with joy, Shug. It must all look magical around your house.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving week to you, dear friend.
~Sheri
Greetings, Shug, from another "overzealous Christmas elf." This year, I even forgot about waiting until after Thanksgiving to decorate. And I don't even care! If I can stretch out the season as much as possible, that's great with me. ha haha No humbugs around here. Just another overzealous Christmas elf. ho ho ho
ReplyDeleteI bet there are quite a few rich people who have another Christmas home! But for me, home sweet home is best. One home, that is.
ReplyDeleteHello Friend, I caught up reading your past posts. I am continuing to pray for Sam, you and your family. Lots of hugs and love.
ReplyDeleteGuess what, we have rabbits that are eating our outdoor extension cords. We have heavy duty extension cords because of our weather, but those rascal rabbits chewed into it and my Christmas lights went out in my greenhouse. I have my greenhouse decorated for Christmas.
A Christmas house is perfect! Bob would be very happy not to haul the tree upstairs in November. :)
ReplyDeleteIt would be a dream to have a ready made home decorated but to be honest I would miss all the mess and work to make it our own. I love putting on the special memory ornaments that have so much history behind them.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a blessed time of Thanksgiving and making your home glorious.
Sue
Hurray for Sam, and for you! I’m still praying and wising you all the best. 🙏❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕
ReplyDeleteAnother house already decorated for Christmas would make things much easier!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Gives the notion of a "she shed" a whole new slant!
ReplyDeleteI've envisioned a log cabin fully decorated with a roaring fireplace. This is of course more like lodge size and it has enough bedroom to accommodate both kids and their family. I mean this will be at least a week long Christmas celebration we'll be having
ReplyDeleteSorry I've been away so long......You my darling are a breath of fresh air!! Loving you.
ReplyDeleteHello, my dear friend! You bring such joy, you know? I always feel good when I leave here. I am praying for you and your Sam. Happy and Blessed Thanksgivivng!
ReplyDeleteIf only...that would be lovely. ☺️
ReplyDeleteWishing you and Sam a very blessed Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI would miss the fun of rediscovering the decorations and ornaments every year! Each and every one of them has a memory attached.
ReplyDeleteI am like you - I am happy right where I am. I don't want another house to clean either.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea. Christmas all year round. You could visit this house any time not just at Christmas.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and your family.
Yes, I enjoy the messy fun too. There's something about it. Make a nice cuppa, hang some lights. This year our lights died on one tree so we went to get new lights and were were busting a gut hanging them. I mean, it's so good that silly stuff.
