Today's plan is a simple one. Hanging out at HOME....tackling the laundry, checking off a few chores before life gets busy again. My main focus, though, is getting my bag packed for my upcoming girls' trip to Branson, Mo. But before I can even think about packing cute outfits, I need to cook a few meals to tuck into the freezer for Sam. Gotta make sure he eats while I'm gone. I sure don't want him resorting to cereal three times a day.
I'm not worried about leaving him for a few days... The girls will be around (both of them only live a couple miles away). His brother is near by and so is my brother and sister-in-law. 💛💛💛💛💛. We are not leaving until Thursday, so I will be out of pocket from Thursday the 6th until Tuesday the 12th.
Speaking of this trip.... it's going to be a brand-new adventure for me. I've never really gone on any overnight trips without Sam, and I'll be honest, I'm feeling a mix of excitement and "oh goodness, what have I gotten myself into?" I'll be sharing a room with one of my dear friends, which sounds perfectly fun....until bedtime rolls around.
You see, I've got quirks. Not the cute kind, either. I'm in bed by 9:00 and asleep by 9:10... just like clockwork. I can't sleep without my box fan blowing at full speed (NO white noise effects from my phone for me). I need the REAL thing! I make a few nightly trips to the bathroom. And yes, rumor has it that I might even snore a little.. OKAY fine, I might snore a good bit. But only when I'm tired.
So, as I pack my suitcase, I'm also packing a healthy dose of self-awareness and a pinch of prayer that my roommate doesn't secretly record my midnight symphony. She is so funny and I can assure you, she will be laughing. I just keep telling myself, "I can, I can....I think I can."
Oh, and here's the kicker..... I am an early riser. I'll be up before sunrise, sipping coffee and chatting with the Lord, while my three friends are still deep in dreamland. Could I possibly be diagnosed with a new phobia by the end of this trip.. "Dormaphobia" ......The fear of disturbing your roommate with your nighttime craziness. "Dormaphobia" is not a real phobia...I just made this one up, but it sounds realistic. 😂
Did you know there are over 500 named phobias??
I'm kinda proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone. After all, life is too short to stay home just because a box fan might not fit in my suitcase!! I'll be toting it anyways...through the lobby of the hotel and straight up to The room.
Well friends....these are my plans for the day. Here I go....work to do!!
Hugs to ALL
Shug.

Have a fun trip, Shug. I'm sure your roommates will understand all the quirks of your trip.....except maybe the snoring. I have a snorer in my family as well, oh my gosh. I think you need and deserve this little time away. You do so much for everyone, and now you will have lots of special moments coming to you. I love your Shug car, by the way. Have fun!

I don't ever notice that I snore! LOL.. I think my friend wear a CPAP, so maybe she will not even hear me.
DeleteDormaphobia is a great, creative word, Shug. Have fun on your adventures with the gals and take lots of photos to share with us here. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHey..it is a pretty good word isn't it? I have to get used to it anyways, cause I am going to Ireland in March and will be rooming with my daughters..lol
DeleteOh Shug, that is so WONDERFUL you are going on a girls' getaway trip. You SO deserve this. Have a truly awesome time. (I know you will.) It is good to get out of one's comfort zone. We just never will know how good it feels until we do it and you are doing it! Can't wait to hear all about the trip when you get back. Have FUN! Hugs. Susan
ReplyDeleteWe don't leave until Thursday, so I will be posting until then, but I am truly looking forward to this time with my girlfriends..
DeleteYou will enjoy the time away with your friends. I love your new word - Dormaphobia sounds quite attractive.
ReplyDeleteWe always take some kind of trip each year, but Sam usually goes with us. It will be a nice get-away I know.
DeleteYou will have such fun! I have dormo-phobia too. You and I would make good room mates. I've been known to snore, get up for bathroom runs... But I am a night owl and stay up till midnight. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteI think you are wonderful for stepping out of your comfort zone! And brave, too! I do not travel anymore at all, because of several old-people issues! One being I have to have a handicapped toilet, and they cannot be found in a speedy manner! I think you are probably envisioning the worst, and it will go so much better! And whatever happens, the adventure will be so much worth it!! Come back with lots of pics, Bon Voyage!
ReplyDeleteWe could be roommates, I too need a fan at full speed, I too let out a good ol snore and I gotta pee!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a fun trip!
Love, Carla
