Designer Edition of Yesterday

Yesterday, Y'all.....I Became an HGTV Designer (In my own Mind)

I was in town all day yesterday picking out new ceiling fans and light fixtures for Sam's dad's house, and let me tell y'all...I forgot how exhausting the world of home decor can be.  One minute I was sipping on a Dr. Pepper just feeling normal and the next minute I was squinting at a wall of 297 light fixtures....wondering why on earth there are that many selections to choose from.  And don't even get me started on how many different kinds of light bulbs are on the market.

We've been having his house redone on the inside, and I am loving the white color I selected for the cabinets.  I marched myself into the store and right down the fan aisle like I was Joanna Gaines with a mission.  LOL.  I chose black fans and black fixtures that I know will really stand out against the white.

My car was packed from front to back and the boxes were reaching as high as they could go.  I had to use my side mirrors while driving home cause there sure wasn't any vision in my rear view mirror.

The flooring is next...OH mercy!!  I've already googled so many options that my phone probably thinks I'm opening a flooring store.  I'm just hoping that the house ends up looking exactly how I envisioned.

By the end of the day, I was absolutely convinced that I could star in my own HGTV show.  I am excited and I can't wait to see the finished look!!  BTW...if any of you happen to see me walking through Home Depot with a huge amount of confidence (that I really haven't earned) .... Just let me have my moment of basically becoming the newest designer...

And in other news....It looks like I'll be hosting Thanksgiving lunch this year for 7 of us.  Seven hungry humans will gather around my table and feast on a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

Some of the grands will be off spending Thanksgiving in Colorado....They will be breathing in that cool mountain air and probably sending me pictures of themselves all bundled up making snowmen.  Honestly...this sounds like fun and I can't wait to hear every single detail of their Thanksgiving trip.

Back home here, I'll be fluffing napkins and reminding myself that hosting a small crowd is practically like being on vacation.

Happy Friday, friends...let the weekend shuffle begin!!

Shug... ๐Ÿฆƒ

  1. Whew, your trip made me tired. Love that you had a drink with you. I like to do that when I hit Target for a long trip. Though a different drink than yours but still, the idea of the fun.

    1. I second guessed myself a few times...ended up going back several times to make sure I had matched the fans with the same color fixtures.

  5. Applauding wildly from the sidelines, Shug! Your projects would totally intimidate me, but I figure that's what you were born to do. (Joanna and Chip, stand aside!) Please let us know if the house goes up on the MLS and there's a link we can pull up to see all you've done!

  8. I'd watch that show dear Friend! Lol You crack me up and I loved this so much. I'm doing the same thing with light fixtures and ceiling fans that I need to replace over here. It is overwhelming but it sure sounds like you're doing an excellent job. If only you lived closer, I'd say "you're hired!" ๐Ÿ˜‚ Hosting 7-8 over here for Thanksgiving myself. I love doing it and enjoy that cozy holiday so much. Prayers sent in advance for smooth sailing with it all! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ๐Ÿงก

  10. My house is white with black accessories - I think that you will like that. I am surprised you are doing all that redecorating right now - I would be stressed out of my mind. Plus, physically I could not have done it. Mentally I probably could not make those decisions alone. You are amazing!

  13. I have no doubt the decorating part of your HGTV show would be excellent, but I don't think you're up for the drama they always add.

You have such a positive energy girl ! I hear ya I want to change out my bedroom rug , curtains and bedspread probably paint one wall a different color. Everything is so expensive and I don’t want to make a mistake and waste money, so there’s that.
Can’t wait to see your end results.
