What a lazy, hazy Saturday we had...Sam an I never even left the house. We hung out around here and enjoyed doing Nothing. We stayed in our recliners, and curled up in our blankets for most of the day. I did make time to wrap some gifts and get them under the tree. Making progress!!
I thought I would do something a little fun today and give you a tiny preview....a little taste, a smidge, a sprinkle...of Christmas around here.
So...welcome to my unofficial Christmas decor tour, also known as "I could have waited until December One, but oh well.
A few decorations have made a grand entrance and there will be more to come. It's crazy how that once the garlands and the rest of the greenery make their appearance, I lose all self control. My excitement begins to grow and grow and grow.
This year's vibes? Warm, Cozy, a dash of charm and a whisper of nostalgia. Basically the look that I love. I have little clusters of greenery tucked in corners and soft twinkle lights glowing...Old bells and dried orange slices that remind me of Christmases when I was a kid.
This is just a small preview...kinda like a teaser or perhaps it's like my daughter said..."Mom, it looks like a Holiday appetizer around here and I know the main course is coming SOON."
More Twinkle to come....
For me...the sweetest part of adding these little touches early is how it shifts the whole atmosphere of our home. Scented candles and a simple wreath, or a glowing window as the outside lights reflect their beauty...each of these things just makes me want to hug it all.
Decorating early doesn't just make things pretty, it has made my life easy this year. These early decorations? They are little love notes to myself. Just a sweet reminder that home is not just where we live, it's where we breath, where we feel love and where we allow our souls to rest.
Shug..💚

It looks perfectly festive and cozy!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mari. It's pretty cool here this morning which helps to enjoy the season
DeleteThe past few years my decorations have been minimalist; your partly-decorated house will have more than my completely-decorated one!
ReplyDeleteWow Shug, your pictures should be featured in a magazine. Just gorgeous. I used to go all out in decorating years ago because I wanted to make it special for my boys but my tastes now, lean toward minimalism. But I do enjoy it in others homes. Now I'm looking forward to your " main course"
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it, Shug. All these little touches just say "merry" to me. That framed tree in the first picture is so unique. I see you use a lot of gold in decorating. I love silver and white, but the gold always reminds me of the traditional pieces, which I love as well. That little jar of gum drops is delightful, and reminds me of the time when the kids would take one from the candy jar at the mercantile. The snowman trinket is so cute. Your hutch is pretty with all the trees, And I LOVE that silver and white tray with the twinkling lights. What a sweet thing your daughter said. It reminded me of You.
ReplyDeleteHope your Christmas season is merry and bright, Shug.

I love it, and have even saved one to copy! My favorite posts of yours are the ones showing how you decorate. You are a natural expert at it. I cannot WAIT to see the rest! I am only partially decorated as well. Due to my health and no ability to decorate, it takes me weeks!
ReplyDeletemother always did her tree and decorations on the Friday after TG and so did I until all the kids moved away in 2006. I did sit the 18 inch tree in the nook, minus the balls. not sure if I will do anything else. we shall see Your home is exactly has you described it above. and it does sparkle, twinkle, cozy and glow.. love it
ReplyDeleteI love it all. This is such a wonderful time of year.
ReplyDeleteYour decorations are so tasteful and elegant, Shug. I'm looking forward to seeing more in the future. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYou are wise to start early so you can savor the experience and not feel rushed. Much love always. ❤️💕❤️💕
ReplyDeleteIt looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis "appetizer" to the main event is lovely. Very nice. Very homey. Very welcoming. Thanks for sharing your pretties with us!
ReplyDeleteOh Shug, I just love your sneak peek of Christmas at your home. Its dazzling !!!
ReplyDeleteThose Sweet Reminders of precious traditions and the joy of the season are beautiful.
I love all the simple scenes on trays and bowls. Such lovely focal points. I noticed the Aunt Jemima cookie jar. I love it and have a bit of Christmas envy about it. Its a fabulous McCoy piece and if I had the room I would have a full collection of the old cookie jars.
Here's to a wonderful week ahead.
Love ya
Sue
How your vibes warm my heart! While my few pieces pale in comparison, you're right about the feelings they evoke. There's nothing like it ... nothing like you, m'dear!
ReplyDeletePS - Your new header is stunning!
Home Sweet Home is my favorite, your home is that, I can feel it from my computer.
ReplyDeleteDo I spy gum drops?
Your home looks so beautiful and inviting. Very warm!
ReplyDeleteLovely touches of Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI love all your little festive touches. I like to do it slow and easy as well...just take my time and decorate a little at a time so I don't wear myself out by trying to do too much too fast. But I see your tree is already up, so you are definitely ahead of me! We need one of our strong sons to come help up us get the totes full of decor out of the shed and into the house and then we can commence with decorating. And you already wrapped some gifts? Wow! I haven't even begun to shop yet...so yes, I have a lot of work ahead of me. I love that you are getting a head start. You have a lot on your plate this year. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree on the easier for the decorating. That's why when I put away Halloween, and I'm right there, I take out the Christmas. Plus, I really, really love two months of Christmas. Sitting on the couch, under a blanket with a cuppa looking at the two trees, I just love that.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your dresser with the trees and that small table. I'd probably set up camp at that table and read, write, draw and have something hot to drink.
Sounds like your lazy day was just perfect.
