Hey Friends....I am back!
Oh Friends....our little get-away to Midland was just what we needed! We spent time with both of our grandsons and their sweet families, and it filled my heart right up. They have homes that are very welcoming and we could feel the instant sweetness and excitement of us being there.
Now...I want to be honest. When I first pictured Midland, I imagined nothing but tumbleweeds rolling across dusty roads, oil wells stretching for miles, and a tiny gas station on every corner. And YES...there were those thousands of oil wells!! But what a pleasant surprise to find a city that's not at all what I expected. It is a very clean, vibrant and bustling city. The sunsets were out of this world as the sun fell to meet the earth. And..of course, I didn't get a picture of a single one.
We ate some delicious food for sure...steaks, salmon, some awesome Mexican food and Ice cream... I am not even a fan of ice cream, but my salted caramel scoop was super yummy!! As a bonus, I got to visit with a great-nephew and his family. It had been a couple of years since I last saw him and it was great to share dinner and conversation with him and his fam.

Halloween must be a big deal out there because we saw one house....NO, we actually saw several homes that were so decked out in scary decorations that we could barely see the homes. I think the ghost and goblins were enjoying us stopping to take pics.
Our flights were easy, parking at DFW was a breeze (I am still amazed by that) and the whole trip felt smooth from the start to finish. Sam and I even learned a few things about getting from one terminal to another with great ease. I love it when everything falls into place and this was definitely one of these times. Thank you Lord!!
We came home feeling so refreshed...body, mind and soul. Midland, you were such a delightful surprise, and to our grandsons and families ...thank you for the love and the sweet memories we made.
Glad to be home and to the sweet smell of cinnamon flowing through the house.
shug....💛

Yea you’re back! Well it truly sounds like a nice time all around, from the food to just being with your family members. Love that picture of Sam with your grandson and nephew. I’m glad everything went smoothly and that Midland isn’t like you envisioned. You and Sam really needed this. God bless you, Shug. 🙏🏻
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to see my great nephew. It has been a while but I am so happy that he and his family are doing so well..

ReplyDeleteThank you Connie...it was so enjoyable.
DeleteShug, it sounds like such a wonderful trip. And even better that the flight was an easy one for you and Sam. That usually takes a good part of the day just dealing with that. The sunsets there sound so pretty. and the salted caramel ice cream was a Yummy choice. The best part was seeing your great grandsons once again. Nothing like coming home to the scent of cinnamon filling the house. Glad you're back safe and sound, Shug. Love your Autumn Header, by the way. : )

Thankfully, we did not have long waits at the airport. very easy this time. Thank you for the compliment on my header...I try to create new images at least once ever two weeks..
DeleteI'm so happy to hear you had such a marvelous time with family in Midland, Shug! And your vacation did exactly what vacations should do - refresh and relax you. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWe were so very blessed with this little trip...it was great for both Sam and myself.
DeleteNothing beats being with family, and how wonderful you had a chance to be with some extended family also. I say not getting a photo of the sunset is wonderful, because it meant you were experiencing it rather than recording it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Anne....the sunsets were so very pretty and I just took them in..
DeleteI'm glad you had such a great time!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much....one thing I really enjoyed was no humidity..
DeleteAww Shug ... what a delight it is to read of your wonderful weekend. Smooth sailing, great food and FAMILY ... There is nothing better to my way of thinking.
ReplyDeleteI love your new banner too.
Love you
Sue
Oh Sue...it was the easiest trip and our flight was like going up and coming down...at total of 45 minutes. lol. but this would have been a 7 hour drive. glad we flew.
DeleteDear Shug, your photos are beautiful! I also love your blog background and header! Filet of salmon...I absolutely love it! It looks delicious! Looks like a delightful time, dear friend! And so lovely to see the smiling faces as well!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda....The salmon was sooo good. We so enjoyed visiting our kiddos...and they were so happy for us to be there.
Deletethis sounds amazing and so much fun. you have a beautiful family and so glad the airport was not like what I see on TV... sounds perfect... so does a house smelling like cinnamon. I need to get a box of cinnamon sticks to simmer on the stove once in a while. I tried using my powdered cinnamon and no smell.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are home, and glad you had a perfect trip. I am surprised your airport is so smooth - you should see the one here. You have a wonderful family. They all sure do decorate for Halloween! The salmon looked good too.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! How wonderful that your trip was so fantastic. And I think you both really needed this. And I love your gorgeous path header with the plaid background!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely adventure!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about your trip to Midland. We have a cousin that recently that moved to Midland and I pictured it the same way that you did. I’m so glad you had a wonderful visit with family. You got some beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteYears ago Hubby worked for a company who had a plant in Midland, and the way he described the town jived with your preconceived ideas about it. I'm glad to hear it was a lovely area.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to read the smiles on your faces here, Shug! My former college roommate hailed from Midland, but I've not been there since the 1970-something! For some reason I was thinking y'all were driving, but this is much smarter. Less stressful, too! Welcome home!
ReplyDeleteThree cheers for an easy and wonderful trip! Looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a good time. Enjoyed seeing all the pictures of your family
ReplyDeleteNow you've made me want to take a trip! Sometimes that's just what you need. I've never been to Midland, but it sounds like you had a great time there. Welcome home!
