Our Trip to the Arboretum

This past weekend, Sam and I decided to turn a doctor's appointment trip into a mini get-away.  We left for Dallas a day early and spent Sunday morning exploring the Dallas Arboretum.  Neither of us had ever been and I must say, it was nothing short of spectacular!

The entire area was decorated for Fall.  Everywhere we turned, there were pumpkins of every size, color and shape imaginable.  Who knew there were so many different kinds of gourds and pumpkins?

The Fall displays were quiet surprising and so unique.  For certain, we enjoyed how the winding pathways were very easy to walk, and how they were surrounded by acres of fall flowers and foliage that definitely spoke Autumn. Let me tell you...I was loving every minute!! The entire place was so peaceful.

All of the pathways were lined with pumpkins

The views of the lake were stunning....sail boats were drifting gracefully across the water (this was a big surprise to see) and the sunlight was dropping hints of sparkles across the entire lake.  It honestly looked like there were layers of twinkle lights shining across the lake.  Absolutely gorgeous!

I love how they planned the foliage to be so colorful for Fall...

This sitting area..... we both rated it a 10+ .... super peaceful and the breeze was like sweater weather cool.

Along the way, we came across several little creeks and streams that were very gently flowing over rocks which I thought added a peaceful soundtrack to the day.  There were also a couple of tiny ponds that were stocked with huge goldfish, which we enjoyed watching.

And...I can't forget to mention the spraying frogs!!  A huge water display of frogs spewing water out of their mouths.

Around noon, we took a break for a relaxing lunch at a sweet little restaurant that was tucked inside the Arboretum.  This place was once the home of the DeGolyer family and was built in 1930.  The food was so good, but it was the setting that made it so memorable.  After lunch, we sat outdoors in a nice area,  enjoying the cooler air as we spent some time just talking for a couple of hours about Everything and Nothing.  No rush, no schedules...just time together surrounded by God's masterpiece of creation.

It was one of those simple, soul refreshing days....the perfect kind that we both needed.   It was so nice to take a day to just wander, breathe, and allow our hearts time to rest and be still.

Hope you enjoy these pictures...

    2. Very, very cool. I'll come back later tonight and let ya know what two minis were opened. We have Lidia, Freddy and Keifer the Lost Boys vampire left. The fun is, we never know if what order - which is soooo fun.
