Orange Hodgepodge Day!!
Joyce Asks the Questions:
We Answer the Questions:
1. What do you like most about your family?
What I love most about my family is our closeness and the deep love we share. Not only within our immediate circle, but extending out to cousins, aunts, uncles and beyond. It is very comforting to know that no matter how far apart we are or how busy life becomes, that bond of belonging always ties us together. Around here, Family is the heartbeat of our home.
2. What's something nice that's happened to you recently?
This is a difficult one for me to answer, because nice things happen for me all the time. Seriously, I am so Blessed and it seems that each day the blessings keep flowing.
3. Do you like the color Orange? Besides pumpkins and an actual orange, what's something orange you love?
I do like Orange!! Especially this time of the year, the color Orange feels like a burst of happiness that refuses to go unnoticed. Don't you just love how the color Orange hums excitement and energy? I like to think that the color orange tells us to live boldly!
4. What's something you have now you couldn't have imagined having five years ago? How does that make you feel? What's possible now because of it?
Gosh...this is a hard one! I'm going to have to say more Peace! Having peace feels like taking a deep breath after a long day...I can feel the soft whispers in the quiet moments of my day. Although, we are battling Sam's health issues at this time, I still have the ability to rest in the moments and I have the gentle assurance that God is walking right beside us...taking each step with us. I can best describe my peace as if I'm standing in sunshine and it is so warm and steady.
This is a good feeling in knowing that no matter what comes our way, the peace of God stands firm. He is in control and in knowing this, I can find calm in the chaos of life.
5. Let's wrap this one up with an October this or that....
* pumpkin bread or apple cider donut
Definitely pumpkin bread
*Cozy sweater or cozy hoodie
A warm cozy hoodie every time!!
* apple picking or pumpkin picking
Our area is too hot for Apples to grow...I've never picked apples. BUT: I've pulled a lot of pumpkins and the hunt for the perfect pumpkin is so FUN!
* scary movie or Hallmark movie
I don't do scary very well...I don't do thriller movies well. I usually watch Hallmark Christmas movies in November and December
* hay ride or corn maze
HAY RIDE for sure! A hayride is pure seasonal JOY! I love to bundle up with family and friends, on an autumn night and ride the back roads on a trailer that is full of hay. Guess what? Wi-Fi is not allowed on these rides!! Just riding under the stars and soaking up this simple pleasure.
Ooooo....makes me want to plan one!
* twinkle lights or candles
Twinkle lights are magical. Doesn't matter if they are strung across my back porch, wrapped around a tree trunk, glimmering along the fence line....I simply love them.
On cool evenings, twinkle lights invites you to linger a little longer and let your thoughts settle. I find much peace in their shimmer....It's like their glow is a promise that even the smallest lights bring peace.
* autumn hike or autumn bonfire
I enjoy both!! However, I do love the crackle of the wood and the dance of orange and gold flames shooting up from the fire.
I do love BON-FIRES but I enjoy a Camp fire just as much...
And even better are the stories, the laughter, the s'mores, and the chill that is in the air. Sitting around the bonfire seems to be more than the fire itself...it's togetherness, connection, comfort, and I like to think of it as being a way to melt away any worries...
6. Insert your own thought here.
We have finally had some cooler mornings!!
AND: I have learned that the more you do something the easier it becomes.... even if it's driving through bumper to bumper traffic in Dallas. What once felt nerve-wrecking is slowly turning into second nature. I guess you could say that confidence often shows up disguised as experience. Still a bit stressful when the big 18 wheelers pull up next to you, or when a fast moving vehicle changes lanes right in front of you..... but I'm learning that I can do it!! I can drive in Downtown Dallas...
Enjoy all of your blessings today..

I enjoyed all your answers today! Your family is such a blessing and so is the peace you are feeling. Great answers on the wrap up too.

I enjoyed hearing your answers today, Shug, especially number 4. Having peace is so important, and knowing that God is walking right beside you through all the chaos is very special, indeed. The twinkle lights are so fun to put out around the holidays. I'm glad to hear you are getting some cooler mornings this Fall. I know what you mean about the traffic. The more I drive into the city, the more it becomes familiar to me. I loved your answer to number 2 also, that you appreciate the blessings you receive each and every day. And I read one time that the color ORANGE is the happiest color. I believe that is true!
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful Autumn day, Shug, and you are a very special lady who I've had the pleasure of knowing. : )

Love your answers my fellow kindred spirit. Family closeness is so important to me too. And I love the color orange and all the cozy choices for this time of year. I'm not a scary movie person either and love hallmark movies instead! π Fall blessings πππ§‘
ReplyDeleteI'm with you about scary movies! I like ones about love and friendship. I'm still praying for Sam and for you all --- much love always.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update on Sam. Continued prayers for good results.
ReplyDeleteKudos on you for all that "Big City" driving. The older I get the harder it is for me to do that. Getting old sure isn't for sissies...
I do love the Fall and all the tones of orange around. I have to admit I really don't look very good in orange.
Love both the donuts and bread. Carbs all the way..haha..
No scary, gory movies for me. That's the part of Halloween I don't like. I feel we are bombarded with everything gross.
I would love to go on a hayride again. Only been on one and that was during the day. Fun, though.
Family ... Yes its all about family and friends that are like family. It is my most treasured Gift.
Sue
A Razzle Dazzle Housewife! What is THAT?? π
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about the color orange. Fall colors in general are my favorite. A close loving family is such a gift. I appreciate mine more every day. Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers and probably agree with all of them, except I love apple cider donuts! We just had some on our trip to N. Ga., and they were SO good! And I also prefer a hoodie, but a dear blogging friend literally knitted me a beautiful sweater last year and I just about wore it out, it was so cozy and comfy! So it made me rethink about being a sweater girl, at least at home in the house. I will continue to pray for Sam and for the results of his tests/MRI, etc. May the Lord continue to minister to you both. We know God is able.Amen.
ReplyDeleteNo scary mmovies here, either. I enjoyed reading all your answers. The questions aren't always simple to respond to.
ReplyDeleteThat really made me smile about your family and what a wonderful photo!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have more peace now. Thinking of Sam. Sending love and hugs.
I enjoyed reading this today. I read about Sam first, not sure what that means exactly, but still praying. Monday will be a big day. And in your number 4 answer - to have peace - I think that is God within you.
ReplyDeleteI love orange - it is full of life. I am so glad you have such a close and loving family.♥
I love my orange hoodie for walking Beau on cold mornings, you are indeed blessed to have all of this.. the city is building the new round about at all the 4 way stops and I was scared silly because there were two between me and the hospital and rehab home. by the end of one week, of 3 times a day going through them, I now whip around it like a pro. doing it did give me confidence. I love fire, always have, any and all fire.. bonfires, small fire, matches. fairy lights are fantastic and I have them in my living room year round and a tree that has them on the limbs.
ReplyDeleteYour header is gorgeous! And the orange tulips...is that a mural? I am continuing to pray for Sam. Waiting until Monday for sure!!! I know the waiting must be hard. I love orange! and the smell of oranges, too. It really wakes you up!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your most recent update on Sam. In a way, it’s good the numbers are at least remaining the same and there’s been no drastic change in the wrong direction. Prayers that his platelet count goes ⬆️ Also that MRI results come back before Monday so you can have more peace for the weekend and that they are good results! ππ»
ReplyDeleteShug, You have a beautiful supportive family and what a blessing that is during these challenging times. I’m so glad you feel at peace - that totally is the Holy Spirit. I like how you said the color orange is like a reminder to live boldly. Enjoyed all your answers. You are such a gift!
I am praying for Sam's good health and for you all. I love the photo with all your family. God bless you all always.
ReplyDeleteI liked your answers Shug. Thank you so much.
All the best to you and yours.
