Last week, I posted about my trip to Home Goods and about how many pumpkins and skeletons there were in the store.
And Now...I see this posted on Facebook and I'm thinking....this is more serious than I thought.
It is certainly hard to believe that we are nearing the magical stretch of the year. The 'BER months, as in September, October, November, and December.
These months are like the grand finale of the annual calendar show.
September is all about crisp mornings and the beginning of crunchy leaves. Reminds me of a soft opening of the cozy season. Sweaters start making their way out of hiding and front porches suddenly transformed into Fall.
October? If you think about it, October becomes the life of the party. We are all so eager to set those pumpkins out and to begin buying costumes and tons of candy for the little Trick R' Treaters. Lots of Halloween parties pop up on every corner of the neighborhood. You will always be able to find a big dish of candy corn mixed with peanuts sitting on my kitchen counter.
November sweeps in with golden leaves and the warm aromas coming from the kitchen. This is the BER month when we all focus is on gratitude. Oh goodness..I can already smell the apple pies baking in the oven. In November, Turkeys are everywhere and I can never resist a "Greenberg" smoked turkey. I love this month because my table is surrounded by the people I love (and maybe my one uncle who likes to tell the same stories each year.)
Then...oh my goodness! I really mean it....Oh my goodness, here comes December. This BER month goes beyond the twinkling lights, the ribbons and bows and the bells jingling on every street corner. December holds the greatest gift of all....the celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ. This is the month that reminds us that love came down to dwell among us, and this is a reason to keep the light of Christmas glowing in our hearts all year long.
Are you ready for the countdown? I'm not just ignoring these last few days that are ahead in the month of August...(after all, my birthday is on one of these special days....August 24th) So, I'll keep enjoying the pool and I'll keep eating Snow cones, but in my heart I'll be dreaming of the festive times ahead. In case you haven't already figured it out...the BER months move fast and it's a joyful ride straight to the end of the year.
Ready or not, the BER months are just aroung the corner.
Shug.
Happy Birthday Shug. Best wishes of happiness, good health and whatever you desire.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you and your family.
I'm not ready! Those BER months translate to Brrrr! for me. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll hang on to August for now but I know I'll be dragged into Fall sooner or later!
I enjoy the “ber” months but here we seem to pretend that September mornings are crisp with crunchy leaves - sweaters are still in storage waiting till sometime in November. We’re like 2 months behind. September and October are our best weather months before the rainy season.
ReplyDeleteGosh we’re almost halfway through August so it does move quickly. I’m excited for it all.
Oh forgot - Happy Birthday 🎁🎊🎈🎂
DeleteOur coolest weather actually comes in Jan and Feb, but I think the BER months just bring us a little relief from the Heat of July and August. so ready around here. I kinda already dread seeing my electric bill for the month of August..
DeleteThis year has passed so quickly. It's astonishing.
ReplyDeleteI do agree. Where oh where did March, April and May go.
DeleteThe Ber months are the absolute best!!! Happy Birthday, Shug!
ReplyDeleteThank you Martha....I actually still have a few more days before I turn the big 72. I agree...the BER months are good especially after a Hot summer.
DeleteThe "ber" months are terrific, and I've never heard that expression before. I love everything about Fall, and then Winter comes and I embrace all that it brings, with Christmas being so wonderful, as everyone seems to be a little kinder and brighter that season. Isn't Home Goods the best? The candy corn sitting on your kitchen counter sounds delightful, and the Greenberg smoked turkey sounds delicious. I'm looking forward to these "ber" months, just like you, Shug.

**I absolutely love your font. I have the same font on my posts. It's so relaxing to me. Haven't changed it since. ; )
I really like this font too, but I can not remember which one it is! I guess I'll have to go through the list and try them out again. The greenberg turkeys are wonderful and this company is only 10 miles away. You may remember that the GB turkey was once on Oprah Winfreys favorite things list.
DeleteThe font is "short stack." I wouldn't want you to have to go through all the list, so I wanted to make sure you knew that. : )
DeleteOooops, that was me, wasn't signed in. Also, good news about Sam's heart cath test. Thank you God.
DeleteI was just commenting that we are already at the middle of August and then we gallop into the BER months. How can that be. Here in Northern California we don't get crunchy and crispy until mid November but like Shug says ... we pretend and get out the pretty fall decor.
ReplyDeleteI do miss having "Littles" around for all of the fun celebrations.
Umm, yumm, I do love candy corn and now we have eaten what we have so its time to get some more. It sure is too tempting.
Sue
Hi Sue. the candy corn and peanuts treat is addicting I do believe. Many of my friends already have pumpkins out.....It's just too early for me. Have a super duper day
DeleteI am not ready for the ber months. I could use a few more weeks of summer, and honestly the temps will remain hot here, but my world speeds up and does not slow down until after Christmas. I enjoy the slower pace of summer.
ReplyDeleteWhen school goes back into session the rest of August seems to fly by for me. My daughter go back to their positions and the youngest grandchild is a senior. I love the summer months when they are home. For me it's not necessarily about the BER months, it's about the HOT TEXAS heat going away.
DeleteI love, love, love the 'ber' months! Happy birthday early! I do so enjoy the holidays. Thank God Sam's heart test was perfect!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes! Our ber months are quieter than yours, but they are my favorite times of the year. ❤️😊❤️
ReplyDeleteOh The ber months can wait!
ReplyDeleteI love your little pictures for each month, and your descriptions of them! I started decorating for fall the first of August, because it takes me a month! I am back and forth with things and can never decide, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you, eagerly anticipating the "BER" months! Andy Williams may have been singing about Christmas, but I believe these are the most wonderful times of the year.
ReplyDeleteOnly 10 more days 'til your "New Year"!
I'm definitely not ready for the ber months but here they come ready or not
ReplyDeleteThe "Ber" designation was new to me, but I like your explanation of each of them.
