Can you believe the 4th of July is almost here? I can already feel the sparkle as we celebrate this holiday......and I can taste the sugar rush that is coming too!!
I've been jotting down my dessert list, and so far I am planning to make my go-to ice cream cookie sandwiches and a beautiful red, white and blue trifle recipe that I found on the internet. Both will most definitely be crowd pleasers and perfect for the HOT day we are expecting.
I have a few favorite things that I would like to share and each of these is currently topping my happy list. Why not?? I enjoy being able to celebrate freedom and all of the little joys of life.
Let's start with Starbucks' neon kiwi dragonfruit drink. If my summer could have a flavor, this would be it this year. Bright and tropical....... and I love the way this drink looks. I only need the recipe and I might would have one of these everyday.
Another favorite had me swooning this week and it was Creme Brulee. I had it Monday when I had lunch with friends, and let me just say, it was awesome!!!! I'm currently dreaming about that golden, sugary crust.
Other favorite things that I've enjoyed these past few days, is hanging out by the pool, preferably with a filter that magically takes away all my wrinkles. Dig these Hot Pink shades!!!!
I also love spending time at the Farm, and especially now. There are several big, heavy pieces of equipment down there, clearing and cleaning up areas that have needed it for a long time.
Other News:
I went to the dentist yesterday and sadly, I now have an appointment with an oral surgeon. Can you believe that I still have a wisdom tooth? It appears that I need to have the top left wisdom tooth pulled, but since the roots are too close to my sinus cavities, I will have to have a surgeon extract it.
I am also having the tooth on the bottom that lines up with the wisdom tooth on top, extracted as well. I needed to have a root canal and a crown for this particular tooth, and with the wisdom tooth coming out, my dentist said that I really didn't need the bottom (way back) tooth. This will save me a lot of money!!!
Not looking forward to this!!!
And Last......I saw this yesterday in a Huge shop....."The Painted Tree." I know that there are a lot of little kids that would like to climb up there and get a toy out of this giant machine...
This is all the news I have for today.... ....Happy Wednesday Everyone!!!
Happy 4th week!!
Shug...
Happy Birthday America!!! Oh how I love this post of all the sweet treats. You have given me an idea with the ice cream cookies. We are celebrating in August, I always bring dessert... thank you Shug. :-)
ReplyDeleteSending prayers for you and Sam.
Golly Geez ... wisdom teeth!!! Mine were taken out when I was 21.
Love, Carla
My sons and I are not big on sweets so we’ll leave that to my daughter-in-law. That trifle is more my speed. It looks really good. I’m a savory person.
ReplyDeleteOh my. I had my wisdom teeth removed as a teenager. I had 6 of them and 4 were growing developing and growing sideways in my gum! At that time the oral surgeon hadn’t ever seen that many since we usually have just 4. I guess I was just special that way! 🥴
Your farm area is so nice - the lake, trees, dirt road and the deer in the far distance. What a nice place to get away from it all. Continued prayers for that transplant preparation!
I know you’ll have a fun Independence Day celebration! 🇺🇸
Viewing your desserts that are all looking Devine, can't wait to see what else you have, after the 4th will be fine. just take lots of photos... Sorry about the wisdom tooth and extraction, good you will not need that other tooth. Enjoy your family and the farm looks great
ReplyDeleteoops forgot my favorite photo. you and those beautiful rose colored glasses. they are gorgous and so are you
ReplyDeleteWhat a banquet for my eyes! I've only attempted making a trifle once. The result was pretty ugly, but you make me want to try, try again. Those wisdom teeth extractions don't sound particularly pleasant, but I hope your recovery's brief and uneventful. Love the rose-colored glasses ... rockin' attitude!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Sam update!
ReplyDeleteI also have a few wisdom teeth, so far they've cause me no issues. Praying the extraction is easy. :)
I want to come over and have some of that trifle. Makes me hungry just looking at it!
I sure would like a pool, or even a cold tub!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have great food Friday.
We had a quiet Canada Day here.
Good luck with the wisdom tooth!
Ouchie on the wisdom tooth extraction. Better to get them out and be done with it...but oh my, dentists and their work isn't for the faint of heart. Prayers going up...
ReplyDeleteNow on to other things. Those cookies and that trifle look divine. I can taste them from here. What a spectacular 4th you are going to have.
Love your pink shades and your sweet face. I would love to give it a hug...
Sue
Happy Independence Day, Shug! You certainly are all set for the big day with all your treats and red, white and blue decorations. And you look fabulous in those pink shades, too. What fun! Yes, I'm keeping Sam and you in my prayers and will share the latest news with our church this coming Sunday. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteSo funny...I was at the grocery store today and ran into an old friend on the way out. She was stopped at the gumball machines getting one for herself. She said, hey, that's what summer's all about!! I agree. Happy 4th...enjoy your treats!
ReplyDeleteThe Dragon fruit drink looks too beautiful to even drink!! I have had several root canals. I did not feel a thing, they numb it so well. They look at it on a giant color monitor screen, it is kind of cool to watch. Best of all, I love seeing YOU, and the cool sunglasses that are just so SHUG! I always look forward to seeing and reading your posts!
ReplyDeleteI love trifles. I haven't made one in years but I have fond memories. Have a great 4th of July weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am the rare person who still has all four wisdom teeth. Other than being buggers to floss they haven't caused me any problems so far.
ReplyDeleteI would love that lens and pink glasses and oh yeah a pool! lol
ReplyDeleteMy grandson in Ohio has all four wisdom teeth out last Friday and he is finally getting better. lol
Is that lake yours?
I remember you made those cute cookies before.
Is Sam getting a new liver for sure? I hope so. He must be doing well.
I loved how that Kiwi drink looked - cut in squares too. YUM
Those desserts look Yummy, especially the creme brulee. I was first introduced to creme brulee many years ago at a Christmas party, and I fell in love with it. Those Starbuck's drinks sure look good and refreshing for summertime. You look cute in your pink heart glasses. Sorry to hear about your dentist appts. ahead. Spending time at the farm must be so nice, as it borders the lake. What a delightful gumball machine. That shop looks delightful. Would love to browse in there. It was wonderful to see a post from you today, Shug. Have a sweet July week.

**saying a quiet prayer for Sam for a liver transplant. I just read the update.
DeleteI enjoyed all the pictures and recipe ideas. That trifle looks mighty good! I've never seen white chocolate pudding, however. I will have to look for that. Your rose rimmed heart shaped glasses are so cute! And is that farm your property? How wonderful! Is there a house there? It looks really nice, with a lake, etc. Continued prayers for Sam. Praying your 4th of July celebration with family and friends will be a joy and a blessing! Oh, I am sorry about the tooth extraction! That doesn't sound like much fun. I only had 2 wisdom teeth, on the bottom, and had them removed years ago. For some reason the top ones never developed! That's fine with me! Maybe that's why I am in need of so much wisdom! LOL. Take care and don't overdo it after the extraction. Ice cream might be nice...or pudding.
DeleteOuch at the oral surgeon, I still have one wisdom tooth left…a lower one thank goodness. Hope you heal up fast! That trifle looks great and fun to make too! Getting worked up for a transplant took the better part of two weeks when Far Guy was on the lung transplant list. They go through everything. We met so many different doctors. It seemed like we were traveling to the U of MN every other week for something…he was taken off the list when he was 70 years old and needed a stent in his heart.
ReplyDeleteYummy Red White and Blue cookies. No big parties for 4th of July. June was the month of celebrations and I think we are all pooped!! We do get to see our newest great grandson, Peter on Friday. So looking forward to loving on this new babe.
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute, and I love the rosy colored glasses, Yes, I like seeing things that way, Keeping your sweet Sam in our hearts and prayers. Hope all goes well at the dentist. I am one of those rare ones who never got wisdom teeth...but then I didn't get any wisdom either. HaHa. Now I wear an upper and lower partial. Thankful for that!
I hope you heal quickly 🙏 ❤️ Continuing prayers for Sam. Love all your photos and the pastries look so good. Happy 4th of July to you, dear Shug.
ReplyDeleteHello my Lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove the desserts you have planned! That trifle - be still my heart. I need to get myself a trifle bowl one of these days. Love that you're getting pool time....you are adorable btw! 😍 And so sorry about the tooth stuff. It is never fun! I had to have an oral surgeon do a tooth extraction and was going to be an implant...but didn't work and I had to get a bridge. It was a whole thing. I'll be praying all goes well. 🙏🏻
Have a very fun and blessed July 4th! ❤️💙
Ouch on the teeth! Looks like though, you're in full summaaaaswing! Wonderful. Wishing you a yummy weekend ahead.
ReplyDeletePraying for you, Sam and Family. Also wishing you the most wonderful time on 4th July full of fun, happiness and whatever you desire. God bless y'all.
ReplyDeleteYour desserts look so good. I used to make cookies like those when I worked in the bakery only it was a frosting between them instead of ice cream.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the dentist thing. I dislike any kind of dental work.
I so enjoyed seeing the pictures that you took when you were at the farm. The lake is gorgeous as well! Prayers continue for Sam and you. xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. Keeping you in prayer. smiles
ReplyDeleteStarbucks' neon kiwi dragonfruit drink so attractive and will find it.....
ReplyDeleteyour eyeglasses are pretty, you become younger.
wish you and Sam have a wonderful 4th of July.
You look simply mah-velous in those heart glasses, dah-ling! *ha-ha* Yes, those Starbucks drinks always look so pretty, don't they? I can't have them because they have so many carbs, it would send my diabetes to the moon & back without rocket fuel. But I sure do love looking at them. Have a wonderful 4th. Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Shug...Your posts are so inviting. Love all the photos, too. And LOVE LOVE LOVE your patriotic banner. I understand totally how time constraints result in not posting daily. That is perfectly understandable. Sam is NUMBER ONE and all those appointments, etc. are imperative. Take it easy and post only when it's convenient. That's my suggestion. We will be here when the tide changes again. In the meantime, your trifle is going to be gorgeous and the cookies, too. Honestly Shug, you look SOOOOOOO pretty. Loved that you added that photo. Happy, Happy Fourth of July. Thinking of you and appreciating all your visits and comments to Writing Straight from the Heart. You are the best! Susan
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always full of excitement and pretty things! I suppose all my Fourth of July excitement will come from watching it on the TV. :( Those desserts look amazing and so do you in those cool glasses. Happy Fourth! and have fun!
ReplyDeleteUgh with dental woes. Those are the worst!! But your desserts look amazing. You are right - they will be crowdpleasers!! Love the glasses - have a wonderful time celebrating!
