Ordinary Moments..

 Ordinary Moments!!

Is there such a thing as ordinary magic?  Is there such a thing as magic?  NO..... at least not for me!!  I've never really seen anything magic just happen...   Key word is Ordinary!! Ordinary moments...

Some of you may find excitement in skydiving or zip lining through the jungles..... Not me!

Instead, I'm that person that gets downright giddy when my laundry finishes and all of the socks have matches.....And when I have fresh sheets on our bed....wow, I feel like I'm staying in a 5 star hotel.

Ordinary is where I live most all the time...From sipping coffee to watering my pot plants, to replying to text messages or me opening the refrigerator door.... wondering what in the world am I looking for.  Ordinary is also the grocery store isles, dinners that consist of whatever I can throw together, and the constant drying of pool towels.

I have found that these everyday scenes around here do not need a fanfare.  These are the real things in our lives and if we look long enough, we can find a good bit of humor in a lot of the things we do. You have to admit that it is very funny when you realize you've been wearing your shirt inside-out all day long or find yourself laughing when auto correct turns the word VERY into BEER.  I sent my friends a text that read "I stopped at EMB and they have the beer dress that I bought yesterday, for $10.00 cheaper."  What in the world is a Beer dress?

( Who Knew that they really sell BEER dresses?? LOL...I didn't buy a beer dress.....👀)

I'll continue with my post.......

These are the kind of things that make ordinary days honest.  Even when your grandkids think that the wrinkles on your face are squishy smile lines!!  OR...when you totally forget to pay your Post Office Box rent and it's Friday afternoon and you can't get you mail until Monday because your box is locked......

Ordinary things.....when the toast burns, when your favorite pen mysteriously vanishes, when you put mascara on one eye and suddenly get distracted by a phone call, never going back to finish the other eye.   I'm sure you all get what I am saying.

"I didn't forget mascara on one eye.....I just like to keep people guessing which personality showed up today""

Life doesn't have to be extravagant to be beautiful.  We don't have to bungee jump off of a bridge, or hike in the Amazon to be able to say we are adventurous.  The small ordinary things in life can be enough adventure and usually turn out to be tomorrow's favorite memories...   Woo hoo!! I am happy for these things!!   😊😊😊😊

  1. I have been thing about this very subject.
    The magic of ordinary days.
Watching the garden come to life as the sun
rises. Bluebirds and butterflies flittering through
    pink and purple zinnias.
Watching my husband picking blueberries and
tomato's while my bulldog closely supervises
    And samples everything.
Folding the freshly laundered linens, enjoying
The scent of the bread I am baking as it
    Wafts through the house.
    Ordinary days are especially precious.
They are the very thing our souls long for.
Everyone is chasing ooo's and aahs moments .
    Sky diving, hang gliding.
Not me. A rainy day, a stack of books
    and a pot of tea!
    Pure bliss.

  2. YES, Shug, to everything you said. The "same ole, same ole" is priceless. There's a lot to be said for routine and "normal". It's in that world that I dwell...and love it. Thank you for the reminder to all of us. Love, Andrea xoxo

  3. It’s those ordinary moments when we are unfiltered and real that we tuck into our memories the most. When looking back to those precious times when my boys were babies, I cherish the messy moments of smashed PBJ on their sweet faces more than anything else. I like normal, ordinary days more than anything - no pretense no planning just unadulterated “what you see is what you get” kind of days.

  5. Our lives have certainly contracted. I managed to clean the water fountain, and felt quite satisfied!

  6. Oh I wish my husband could see the world through your eyes! He has oncology appointments this week...and that causes some stress.

  12. Those little day to day surprises are my favorite. Ordinary moments are the best. They are the ones that make up a full life. Wonderful words this Sunday afternoon, Shug. I love your polka dot side bars. I am such a polka dot gal. ; )

  14. How relatable you are, dear Shug! I don't know if you follow Sean of the South (seandietrich.com) my favorite columnist. One of his posts talked about the back side of a piece of cloth discovered in his mother's sewing basket. It was such a mess of loose ends and knots, then his mother told him, "You're looking at it from the wrong side." Here's a link to the column: https://seandietrich.com/your-life/

Let me know if you discover that beer dress. LOLOLOL!

  16. Hi dear Shug, I love the happiness illustration with the freshly laundered sheets! So true! I don't drink alcohol and I had no idea about the beer dress. It is indeed colourful, but I wouldn't buy it, either. :) A definite amen on that life doesn't have to be extravagant to be beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend, and I hope you have a wonder filled week ahead! God bless you.

  17. I think there are two kinds of people - probably more. People who are satisfied with just enough - they can have very little, but they look for the positive side of things. There are others that have been born with a silver spoon in their mouth, and they cannot see the forest for the trees.

  19. What a lovely post. Yes, happiness is what you make it. I like that dress. ... what I mean ... I like the way it looks. I would not wear it personally ... you understand what I mean? What am I saying? Forget all that ... I never mentioned the dress.

It's so embarrassing when I pressed "Publish" before reading what I am writing.

    God bless, Shug.

I think all of us could identify with the little things in life bringing those feelings. You are very funny. You have a great sense of humor. Have a good rest of the week!
