This morning, I made my way over to my daughter's house to feed sweet Taz, Trista's Australian Shepherd. He is our seasoned grand-dog and he is my shadow for the week. After taking care of his royal breakfast, I couldn't help but grab a couple of quick snapshots of the wildflowers around their place.
I could have gotten some better pictures of the blooming honeysuckle, but the ground is very wet from all the rain we have had.
And of course, there are Black-eyed Susans
growing everywhere. Again, the ground was too wet for me to walk out and get more photos.
I will say, the honeysuckle around their place, is really showing off right now, and the scent in the air was like nature's own perfume. I stood there for a bit, breathing it all in and just taking in a full dose of nature. The smell of honeysuckle is so SWEET! lol
Back at home, my roses are loving all this rain. They have started spreading way out of control. My yard guy is going to trim them back today. With all the rain that we have had, the blooms have all fallen off...😔 This makes me sad, but when we get that first week of full sunshine, these vines will be covered with blooms again.
You can see that I even have some "turk's caps" growing through the roses.
Before I go, I wanted to share a photo of my daughter's dining table. It is more than just a place for them to gather and eat. This table was her grandmother's dining table, and as you can imagine, as it sits in Trista's dining area, it is still full of stories and so many sweet memories. I would not have thought that she would have wanted an Early American style table, but it's not about the style, it's about the story. Trista remembers the Generations of hands folded in prayer around this oval shaped table and this serves as a reminder for her, that love, especially when handed down, never goes out of style.
And now for a cute Friday Meme quote:
"Dear Friday....I'm so glad we are back together. I'm sorry you had to see me enjoying Monday - Thursday......But, I promise, I was thinking of you the whole time."
You all are big Blessings in my life and I thank you for all your visits to my blog..
shug....💜
What a beautiful table & place settings, Shug. Your daughter did a wonderful job. Yes, I bet that table does indeed mean a lot to her. It's so nice to see that she cherishes it. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteHoneysuckle really does have a SWEET fragrance! It always makes me want to take a deep breath.
ReplyDeleteHow precious that your daughter has her grandmother's table as her dining table. The sentiments that go with it are so precious.
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend. xx
I love the funny!! ;-) Friday is my favorite day of the week.
ReplyDeleteI love the story you shared about the table, so true.
Have a blessed weekend,
Carla
Hi Shug....Love your header. I was so happy to read that the medical trip went quite well, especially the weather part. It is so wonderful to have blog friends walk with you on the path you and Sam are walking. Let us know any time you need more prayers. The wildflower photos are lovely. Yes, indeed, the scent of honeysuckle is heaven-sent. Have a most beautiful weekend! Susan
ReplyDeleteThat Friday meme is so great ... almost makes me wish I was still working and could use that on FB! (ALMOST)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite take-away truth, "It's not about the style, it's about the story." Amen!
Shug, please give Taz a hug 🫂 for me. Your photos are absolutely stunning and I love ❤️ the table setting and views!!! Your friendship and your posts are always a joy and a blessing. Thank you so much for sharing your life here. God bless you 🙏
ReplyDeleteI love your header!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet that Trista has that table. Our Heather has Bob's moms table for the same reason.
Love the honeysuckle and especially your daughter's dining room table. We use my Mother in Law's old table too. Its large enough when the leaves are in to seat 10. I'm so grateful we have it. Its had lots of stories and Life seated there.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your new bunch of roses.
Sue
I love honeysuckle blooms too. The smell is so sweet and brings back memories of childhood. Hope you will post a picture when your rose blooms again. It looks so pretty. What kind of rose is it. Sorta reminds me of the beautiful Lady Banks my daughter had growing once. Yes, the dining room set is beautiful!
ReplyDelete"love, especially when handed down, never goes out of style." Amen to that!
ReplyDeletethe table is so beautiful, and that style fits anywhere you put it. love all the wild flowers and your sweet granddog. I forgot to say yesterday that this is my favorite of all your headers. I LOVE LONGHORNS and everything on their is perfect TEXAS
ReplyDeleteA piece of furniture means so much more when there are treasured memories attached to it, as I mentioned in my last post, and Trista's is perfectly lovely. We're still trying to dry out from the recent rains, too, but it's glorious to see everything blooming and lush in your neck of the woods. Have a blessed day, Shug!
ReplyDeleteHi Shug~ Your daughters table is fabulous! It is all about the stories and the memories that have been sketched and polished into it's surface... I love it! I have an old table that was my great-grandmothers table. It's worn, and a little battered, but it was, and still is used in my dining room! I polish it with care and love to think about all the memories that were made sitting around it! Your roses look amazing, I'd love to see them in full bloom! Hugs, Barb
ReplyDeleteWe had an Australian Queensland Heeler at one time (if that's the name of it), and it was a kind dog. So good of you to take care of Trista's dog while she's away. Her dining table is lovely, and all set for the fourth of July. How special that it belonged to her grandmother. That's too bad about your roses being swept away from the rain. I look forward to seeing them in full bloom.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend, Shug.

ReplyDeletethecontemplativecat here. Your table setting is lovely. I hope your wkend is blessed.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter's dining room looks beautiful. There is nothing like the lovely scent of honeysuckle.
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness Shug - she takes after you! She loves the memory of family, and it means something to her. A lot of young people don't anymore. The table is fantastic - I love it. I love the smell of honeysuckles. Your roses did take off. Hope they got trimmed today!
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see that your daughter cherishes that table.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love this post, and I LOVE that table! It is so much like my Mom and Dad's table that I grew up with. The chairs are a little different, but the table is very much the same. It could stretch out and seat 12 people, and it did many times!!! It was tight, but we made it work! I am so glad your daughter loves that table and enjoys entertaining family there. Yes, if those tables and chairs could talk! Sweet memories I am sure.
ReplyDeleteTrista sets a lovely table. I bet I know where she learned that from :-)
ReplyDeleteThat table is just gorgeous and I agree, family heirlooms, especially those covered in memories, never, ever go out of style!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautifully decorated table. Best wishes to you and your family always. God bless.
ReplyDeleteRoses and honeysuckle are delightful an d scent the air so beautifully.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter's dining table has been well cared for and looks so inviting.
I think I can smell the honeysuckle through the computer screen. Love the black eyed susans too.
ReplyDeleteThat table is really nice looking and oh the memories. It's sad that most younger people these days don't want things like this.
I have planted honeysuckle here...I love the fragrance!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE her table...so pretty.
hugs
