Good morning!!!
It is a beautiful Sunday morning around here and our temps are tiptoeing toward the upper 80's AND....the clouds are already sending in their RSVP for an afternoon shower or two. The forecast is calling for rain all week.
Today's post is about people who warm our hearts, and a duck who refuses to act like a duck!
I wanted to introduce you to "MO" the duck. Mo isn't your ordinary feathered friend. He is five years old and belongs to Savanah (Trey's fiancee) and he genuinely believes he's one of the family. At dinnertime (at Savannah's home) he waddles right onto their back porch, looking for his share of the "REAL" food. Forget the cracked corn.....MO prefers a cooked meal and has zero shame about helping himself to the dog's dinner too. How precious it is to have a pet like this...
Yesterday, some of our out-of-town family came in, and our hearts were so full getting to love on little William, our great grandson. He is the cutest little guy, and every smile he gives is worth all of the bending over moves and bouncing that we do when he is around.
My two FIRST cousins and their daughters
This afternoon, we are off to celebrate one of my first cousin's....daughters... graduation party. And here's the funny thing.....Misty, the graduate's mom, is my first cousin..... Her dad, my uncle, is only four years older than me. Yes, you read that right. So, I have an uncle who feels more like a brother, and first cousins who are the age of my own daughters.
LOL..... We are all stitched together with love and we have just enough confusion to keep things totally interesting around here.
(As a side paragraph here.....my grandmother died when my uncle was only 6 years old, so my parents helped my grandfather raise this special uncle of mine)
I have found that life is not always orderly or predictable, but for this family, it sure is full of moments that make us smile.
Wishing you a Sunday full of unexpected blessings.

I love all your photos, Shug, and many congratulations to the new graduates. I understand about being an aunt or an uncle early in life. My brothers were 18 & 14 when I was born and I became an aunt when I was 4 years old. *ha-ha* But my brother's two younger children never called me aunt tho. Only when their youngest child was born, when I was 16...that child has always called me Aunt Annie. :-) Thank you for visiting my blog. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDelete**two older children**... not two younger children
DeleteMo the duck thinks he is a person:) I have an Uncle that is two months younger than me...and I love him like a brother. What fun for you to spend time with William he is so cute!
ReplyDeleteha ha on mostly sweet and full of nuts. you know my family . Love the grandson and congrats to all the graduates. there are 4 of us cousins on daddy's side and 4 on mothers side. I am the oldest cousin on moms side and daddys side has 1 8 years older than me.. almost all of our family i gone now. lot of 1st once removed and 2nd cousins , we had 30 at the cousin reunion.
ReplyDeleteMo is cute and I loved reading about his fun personality.
ReplyDeleteI can see why that uncle was like a brother. Have fun at the party!
Mo the duck thinks he is a person - love that. I like Sandra's comment of sweet and full of nuts family. My daughter, Kelly's, aunt is 5 months older than her. Her uncle is 2 years younger than Kelly. Can you figure that one out?
ReplyDeleteHaHa on the family "fudge"...you got that right...
ReplyDeleteAwww what a sweet and wonderful family you have. That little great grandson is too, too precious. Grandma smootches all around.
Love MO. what a personality that duck has..too funny.
Now that it's June our time with our younger son and family is getting closer. They arrive June 12 and we will have our garage ... yard sale on Sat. the 14th. Then its play time for the next 5 days.
I Can Hardly Wait !!!
Its been 3 years for DIL and Maddie to be here..much too long to be without part of the family.
(((hugs)))

That little William has already stolen my heart! Such a cutie! And I loved the tale of "Mo," too. He is quite the unique duck, Praying for Sam and you, Shug. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI love your family quote at the end! and your pretty yellow and white background. What a fun summer you are having. Ducks make good pets!
ReplyDeleteMo sounds like quite a character.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you've had time with family. It's always good to get toghether.
How I love that quote, Shug! (Won't say with which I most identify, lol)
ReplyDeleteWhat a privilege it is to witness these young lady's milestones, teetering on the hem of adulthood. (*sigh* ... time is a thief.)
Your William is a doll; I want to reach inside my monitor and squeeze.
We have a wild Muscovy duck (there were three, but we mostly just see one at a time and I never know which one) who also thinks he's a person or a cat...he loves cat food and comes on our porch and eats their food when they take a break from eating for a minute. But we don't think it's all that cute here and would like for him to go somewhere else to eat. He has plenty of duck food in the pond. But for those who have farm ducks, that's different. Ours just flew in and decided to stay. Maybe someday I will have a better attitude about them. LOL. Congratulations to the lovely graduates! What fun to have so many happy events going on around your family! What a blessing. I love the quote at the end about families and fudge. Our son used to make signs and that was one of them, which I gave as a gift to my brother in law, who is a bit of a "nut". All in good humor. LOL. Have a lovely week my friend.
ReplyDeleteI want a duck like Mo! 🦆
ReplyDeleteBaby William looks like he could be one of mine. He reminds me of my youngest son who is now 40. I just want to hug him!
What a rich life you lead! ❤️
ReplyDeleteMo is a treasure!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to have family time with little ones - big ones, too, but you know what I mean. The littlies grow up while you're not looking, it seems.
Mo is adorable and is baby William.
ReplyDeleteMy dad is the youngest of 8. So he was still a baby when his eldest sister was having a baby. He has nieces and nephews his age and many of them call my mom aunt but are older than her.
Funny about the duck. The girls all look the same age. I can't tell the difference at all. Everyone looks like they should be wearing one of those hats.
