A new page in this story.

If I could, I would climb right through this computer screen and give each of you the biggest hug ever.  Sam and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your much needed prayers as we traveled to Dallas yesterday.

Prayers are powerful, and when God moves, He moves Big. The weather forecast looked so bad for the area we were going to be traveling in, but God heard your prayers, and there was not even a single drop of rain on our windshield.

Another biggie.....When God sends the right person at the right time!!!

Sam and I feel, Without a doubt, that God had His hand in something yesterday.  We have had questions, uncertainties, and have struggled in trying to decide if we were doing what was best for Sam's health. Yesterday, we found ourselves sitting across from a doctor who was nothing short of an answered prayer. God didn't just send us to a good doctor, He sent us to the best one we could have hoped for. She was compassionate, knowledgeable and incredibly thorough, and she met us where we were emotionally and mentally. She was in that room for a full hour.  She spoke clear English, which made it easy for us to hear and understand.

She walked us through every detail (showing on Sam's medical records) with care and patience, explaining his liver disease in a way that made sense to us.  No confusing jargon, just truth and clarity. She wanted to know what our questions were for her and ready and eager to answer each one of them.

She outlined the full process of what it takes to qualify for a liver transplant, and we are now officially beginning that journey. It is not a short road, but is one paved with a little more peace, and I believe that peace was Heaven sent.

She is also coordinating a meeting for us in the coming weeks with an oncology TEAM who will help determine the best course of action for Sam's cancer. Every step, every decision and every specialist we feel, is being led by God's hand.

We don't know what lies ahead, but we do know this: when we asked for guidance, God sent a guide...... When we asked for clarity, He gave us a voice of calm in the storm..... He changed the course of the bad weather, and the thunder storms went South.......He gave us prayer warriors to stand in the gap......and He gave us someone who reminded us that through her care and presence that we are not walking this alone.

We trust the ONE who is writing our story, Our Heavenly Father.....

This story is far from over...but I now feel that we are turning a new page. I am deeply grateful for each of you who have been kind enough to walk alongside us, offering love, encouragement, and support. Your prayers mean more than words can say, and we truly feel the strength of them carrying us through. Thank you for continuing to lift Sam and our family up. We are holding on to Faith, hope and the promise that God is guiding every step.

Shug.

  1. What a joy and a blessing to read here this morning, my sweet friend! May God be praised for the way He ministered to you and Sam yesterday where the weather was concerned, and even more so where the doctor was concerned that He put in your paths. 4. I’m happy you have clarity and that knowledge can help in Sam’s treatment going forward.
Trusting God for our health and Sam’s, involves recognizing His sovereignty and care in every aspect of our lives. While we live in a fallen world where sickness and disease exist, we can find comfort in knowing that God is with us in every circumstance and that He works all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).

Keep your eyes upon the Great Physician.

  5. I am so happy to read this and know that our prayers and also your prayers for us are working as He promised. My first cousin, Skip had a liver transplant, and it changed his life. Will keep on praying and I know there are many who do and will. I wish we could transport to see our blogger friends, maybe one day after we are all in heaven, we will look down and see that it is being done

  10. HURRAH!!!! It seems so rare to have a doctor like this, so I believe it truly was an answer to prayers! I know for sure that God is with you in every step of the way with this!!! Liver transplants are so successful, and kind of common nowadays, so I have faith that this will work out wonderfully. Please let me know when you have made a plan for what to do while waiting, and what it is.

I have a cousin who had a liver transplant over 25 years ago. She's a nurse and got hepatitis through a needle poke. Anyway, she's done just great!

  12. Such wonderful news and answers to prayer! God shows us over and over again how much He cares for us and how much He hears and listens to our prayers...and answers them in accordance with His will and with what is best for us. What a beautiful testimony of God's grace and love. Thank you for sharing this. It gives me great peace in the midst of our own situation, which we are not even sure of anything because it's taking so long to get to see a doctor. That would be our first prayer request, that the red tape would be cut and things would start happening..

I am just so thankful. I know he will continue to bless you and your family. Can Sam work? Do you have to take over right now? Hugs.
