What in the World?? Where did this come from??
I woke up Saturday morning and could
barely walk.
Never have I had Sciatic pain before, but somehow it showed up.
My Saturday was spent with me sitting on a heating pad, using Ice packs, and taking
Motrin and Tylenol.
I'm guessing this nerve is irritated, which is causing pain to radiate down the back of my leg and even behind my knee.
I read where rest, cold and heat therapy, stretching and gentle exercises, along with over the counter pain relievers is what I need to be doing to relieve the pain.
this morning..... the pain is not as intense!
Thank goodness.
I guess today will be another day of rest.
Oh my goodness! I have woken up many times barely able to walk from various things, but have not had this kind of sciatica. Sounds like you are doing better and knew just what to do! I hope the worst is over! Maybe it was also caused by the way you slept in a certain position for too long? That would be good news! Please keep me posted! Just about everyone we know our age has some kind of back problems!
ReplyDeleteI had this before due to a disc injury from lifting heavy stuff, it's awful and can be very debilitating. Took months to heal, I still take vitamins B12, D and Magnesium which seemed to help recovery and health maintenance. Good luck and avoid lifting/moving heavy things, which can cause recurrence of the pain.
ReplyDeleteOh no, sounds like you are doing the right things. Be kind to yourself.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby's back is almost good. It'll never be great. He's been doing all these things. All the best.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope it's getting better :) I love that quote! God gives us what we need and sometimes it's just a good day of rest (or two). Stay cozy :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry! My sister is dealing with the same thing. Sounds like you're doing a good job of treating it. Praying you are feeling better tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI have 2 blown discs (L3 L4) that happened when I was a teenager. It healed only to return decades later. Ouch. I’ve had that sciatica pain. It hurts! Sounds like you’re doing what needs to be done. It no longer bothers me. For me throughout the years, physical therapy works wonders! And walking!
ReplyDeleteGlad you’re seeing improvement. Keep on doing what you’ve been doing.

I have battled the sciatica but not down the back of my leg, mine is down the front left side and I do therapy exercises every other day, given to me by a therapist back in 2015, and walking walking walking. not when it acts up, I do what you are doing for a few days and when it slacks off, back to the routine. if I miss 3 days accidently by forgetting it gets bad again. I have a new pain never had before, started 4 days ago, right side under hip, and the pain makes it hard for me to step up or get in and out of the car.. its better today but I am getting worried because I am the last man walking in our house
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing - I have it down the side of my leg. It looks like it can be in multiple places. Staying in today and taking care of it - resting - will make a BETTER tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteShug, I'm so sorry you woke up in pain. That can be quite awful. My best friend gets that sciatic pain now and then, and sometimes it lasts for a time. Yes, lots of rest. I hope you feel better in the days ahead, Shug. Take care.

ps.....I forgot to mention your purple flowers on your side bar, I love them!
DeleteYep, technical difficulties. I probably believed this sort of thing only happened to other people. Suppose the storms' ratching up the barometric pressure is to blame? Keep practicing good self care and lifting prayers for a better tomorrow. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYep...I so experience this...and I have arthritis too...sigh...keep resting my friend. Keeping you in prayer.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! I'm glad you're taking good care of yourself, and you clearly aren't alone in this. ❤️
ReplyDeleteOh no. Hope it heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteLove the Slow Sunday meme.
It sounds like you're doing a good job of listening to your body.
ReplyDeleteI've had the sciatic pain before and it's no fun. Feel better soon
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better this week. The weather is all over the place here in Florida but the sunshine feels good today. Take care...listen to your body! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteUgh! Been there, it is no good at all. I went to the doctor and chiropractor, nothing worked. Several months of pain. Until I tried CBD gummies with just a touch of THC, that relaxed my muscles enough for things to get back into place.
ReplyDeleteI'm so, so sorry to hear that, Shug! Pain of any kind can be so debilitating. Take good care of yourself and get that rest. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh my dear Friend! My heart feels for you as I know that pain and it's miserable!! I herniated my disc a few years back and had such severe sciatica that in the mornings I couldn't even sit in a chair or on the toilet normally until I was able to get moving and stretch it out. Yes, you're doing all the right things. Muscle relaxants and a back brace when I did activities also helped me. It has healed up so well since back then, but I still wear my back brace if I do big cleaning jobs or workouts to be safe. Prayers for quick healing and that it isn't something as major as mine was. Stay on top of it though and if it doesn't go away I highly recommend going in for a scan. I did PT when they diagnosed me and that helped SO much as well.
ReplyDeleteBlessings 🙏🏻
Resting helps, for sure. I do believe that for me anyway, a good rest day does help the next work day. Always a good thing in my book.
