Never lose you sense of Wonder!
Wonder is definitely a powerful force and I know for me it fuels my curiosity, my creativity and my appreciation for life.
When I watch my great grandchildren, I can see that they naturally possess so much wonder. Everything seems new to them. I love to see how they are amazed with the simple things of life. Things like how a butterfly moves its wings, or the amazement of the white puffy seeds of a dandelion as they go flying through the air.
As we get older, the sense of wonder, that since of wonder that we once had as a child, begins to fade and these wonders become buried under huge responsibilities and the busy routines of life.
As adults, We do get excited about the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets..... We get excited to see snow at Christmas or we get excited when we come up on a stunning waterfall that is hidden deep in the forest.
But.....as adults, we sometimes fail to see these things with Newness and True wonder. Our inquisitive spirit doesn't have to grow dim and we don't have to let the wonders of the world begin to decline. We have the ability to protect the thrill of discovery and enchantment.
I know, I personally have many child like ways. My emotions are very deep. I really want to be YOUNG as long as I can. Especially in Spirit!
If you really think about it, wonder can be a huge source of resilience. It helps us to see life as an unfolding mystery rather than a series of obstacles. I know that life inevitably presents challenges, but I believe that if we maintain an intentional effort to appreciate a sense of awe, our sense of wonder can be richer and more meaningful. The resilience that comes from wonder, enables us to push through the aging years and look beyond oppositions with a heart open to possibility and a spirit unshaken by time.
As I grow older, I want to live a richer life by being enthusiastic and curious about even the smallest of things. Never losing my sense of wonder means never losing the ability to be inspired......always looking for joy in the simplest of things.
I decided I wanted to write this post after a friend said to me ... "I hope you never lose your sense of wonder." We were chatting about Hot Air Balloons and I mentioned that I think they are so fascinating.
Am I too childlike and dream too big? Or was this a compliment... Whichever it was, I'm good with either.
Happy Tuesday Friends...
Older on the outside but still a little girl at heart. This is probably a little crazy but during your post I kept singing to myself .... Oh I WONDER WONDER who, who wrote the book of love. lol Hope you remember that old song. Enjoyed visiting, hope your day is happy and blessed and WONDERful♥
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspirational post you have for us today! I totally agree.
ReplyDeleteThere was a time when I was caught up in the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area and failed to see the wonder of just living. Since living in the rural part of my state has both my husband and I at peace; we have made our yards not only a sanctuary for the birds, bees but for us as well. Plus we have that added bonus living close to God’s glorious artwork out our front door. I can sit for hours and watch the birds, look for eagles, and tall mountain tops as well as the wonderment of the many waterfalls my area. Life is good and it’s all worth it but most of all, it would be nothing if we didn’t put God first. He is the author of my life wherever it takes me on this earth.
You need to write a book. I can feel your energy and enthusiasm every time you post and that is a gift from God.
We should never, ever lose that childlike sense of wonder and curiosity, Shug! It's what keeps us young at heart no matter how old the calendar says we are. Let's see the miracles in the simplest things daily. Blessings!
