Happy Valentines Day

                              Happy Valentines Dear Friends......

                          📬📬📬📬📬

                                                                  💗💗💗💗💗

 Love in Valentine Cards.....

For the past 58 years, I have kept every single Valentine Card that Sam has given me. (This is 53 years of marriage + 4 years of being High School Sweethearts + 1 year of being engaged)

I think of my Valentine Cards as treasures.......Precious reminders of a love that has stood the test of time.  Each card holds a memory, a moment, and a piece of Sam's heart.  I simply cannot bring myself to part with any of them.

I have a sentimental personality and for me,  these cards represent the story of our love.  My heart thinks about the time and thought that Sam put into choosing the exact card for me.

Some of my cards are filled with hand written poems, heartfelt personal notes, and in a few of them, there is a sweet letter attached.

I have always been sentimental... holding onto things that carry a lot of meaning for me.  I know that a lot of people view cards as a piece of card stock paper, with words written in different fonts.  I view them as a part of our love story.  They are my keepsakes, my love letters, and my reminders of a lifetime spent with the man I love.

One day, when words may fail us and memories may become a blur, I will still have these cards.  I will have his words, his love written in ink, which will be a lasting testament to a love that has endured for decades.

My Valentine Cards....each one of them, are such precious gifts and I will always love them.  I know that I am truly Loved...

Wishing each of you a very Happy Valentines Day.

Shug....

  1. What a precious post, Shug. I'm sentimental like that too. I've kept everything my husband has ever written to me. We will be married 54 years next month and each year it just gets better. Happy Valentine's Day to you, my friend.

  2. Precious Treasures for sure. I have kept many of the things Dave has written and given me. I am sentimental to a fault too.
I thank the Lord for giving us 61 years of marriage. Growing old together is the best gift we give each other.

  4. This is so sweet! I'm pretty sentimental too but haven't kept all the cards. I have kept the handwritten notes though!

  5. I am the same way, Shug! This is one reason why it is so hard for me to get rid of anything. What are your plans for today? I hope you both have a wonderful one!

  7. thecontemplativecat here You are so precious to keep those and read them still. When I was teaching, 2nd -4th graders got really silly on that big day. Halloween was worse.

  8. I'm. happy for you! Andy isn't a romantic, but after 60 years of marriage I still wouldn't trade him for anyone. ❤️

  9. How wonderful that you have all the cards he's sent. I have a bad habit of holding on to them for awhile and then getting in a cleaning phase and tossing them all.

  11. What a splendid illustration of what Real Love means! My former husband used to make me Valentine's he crafted out of colored construction paper. Several of those are still a permanent part of my collection of scrapbooks (*sniff-sniff*)

  12. Funny how you talked about cards today - I went to my church group today and we heard a minister talk about her book. Anyway, she cleaned her house and got rid of things like cards from her husband thinking she will get another one next year and start saving again. He died. She had those cards no longer. So, hold on to them.
    Happy Valentine's Day.

  13. I am my Dad, two peas from the same pod. I have nearly all his genetic traits and one is no drop of sentimental. Poor Mother was like you and she lived with the three of us who gave her cards but our heart was not in it and she knew it. she did keep every card she ever got, any and all of them, she had boxes of cards. but this is the most sentimental post I have ever seen. I am totally impressed with your cards from so many years.. and letters also. my boys are like me because I did not give cards, I did not get cards. and they are the same way

  16. Sweethearts for 53 years . . . Oh, my, Shug, I don't think there are many people out there who could claim that! Like you, I save all my cards from Danny. He always chooses such special ones that say how he feels. Sam is a blessing to you!

  18. That is so special that you kept all of the cards and letters Sam gave you. They are truly treasures, and you can look back upon them in the years ahead. A Valentine card is just so special, whether it comes from a spouse, a daughter or son, a grandchild, or a dear friend. There's nothing like them, is there? They have those decorative boxes out in the shops, and your cards would sit perfectly in them. I have a sentimental personality too, Shug. ; )
