U.... Is Healthy.......

It's another gorgeous day here in Chandler Texas.....!!!!

                                                                *******

So ......... it has been a LONG while since I have actually been shopping for myself!  I'm thinking that my new "Savings" attitude is  beginning to work on me!   I've really been working hard at cutting back on things.

{This post may jump from one topic to another several times today....but just hang with me....I have something good to talk about.}

It's really not a secret that I am {actually} a little Chubby!  But hey, Happiness = Chubby or so they say.  When my colored friends see me, they usually respond like this:  "Girl, You is healthy."   ????

This morning......I saved a couple of hours in my schedule, so that I could maybe do a little clothes shopping.....For MYSELF.  I can't figure out if I've actually forgotten how to shop, or if there is another problem going on here.

I just know that when your undies feel a little tight and everything else that you wear is making it look like you have an extra ROLL or two, You've got a problem.        I....... have a PROBLEM...right now!

I sure wish that my wonderful blogging friend (Betsy) @ betsyfromtennessee.blogspot.com .......lived closer to me.   She.....inspires me!   She has changed her life completely, just by hiking and making lifestyle changes.  I am so proud of Betsy!  I would hike right along beside she and her sweet husband (George) even if they wanted me to or not!!

Skinny is the name of the game these days....OR at least, this is what the media wants us to believe..  Skinny and to be semi-flat chested are two
things that I could sure handle.  I know this is probably TMI......but I do not like Bras!!!!  Just can't handle the feeling of being BOUND.

Listen.....I was NOT a bra burner from the sixties...
back then, I was way too young to worry about those kind of things.

Great gads.....Skinny was not what I saw in the mirror today while trying on clothes.  For some reason, that outfit that the mannequin was wearing.....did not look the same on me.  Manni didn't have hair, and she was wearing NO shoes.....Maybe this was the difference!!  What y
a think?

I'm being serious now.........I want to encourage you all, to set some time aside each day to exercise!!!!  Exercise and eat right!  This is something that I am going to have to do for myself as well.   Extr
a weight makes me feel miserable....and it's very unhealthy!

Fat triggers diabetes, it can wreck your hips and knees, and it is very hard on the heart.   As much as I like cake and all kinds of desserts, I like myself more..... and it's time for me to start putting my health at the top of my list.

Needless to say.......No clothes were purchased today and probably none will be until a few pounds are shed...

Have fun doing what you do......but keep in mind that Health matters!!

hugs,

shug...

  1. Hi Shug!
I've only been reading your blog for a short while; and I haven't commented A LOT...
    but girl, I hear ya!
I totally get what you're saying here.
Also... we're practically neighbors. I didn't know you lived in Chandler, Tx.
I live in SouthWest Kaufman County...nearly Henderson, nearly Navarro... :) See? Almost neighbors!
Be encouraged. Getting a little bit of exercise DOES make you feel better. And when you feel better... you do stuff. And when you do stuff... you do a little bit more...you know?
It helps to have wonderful weather like we've had the last 4 days or so...right?

    take care now, Pat

  2. Bless you, my Friend. Thanks for mentioning me -but I have been where you are (and worse)....I hated shopping for clothes ---and didn't do it anymore than I had to... I was also very self-conscious ---so the excess weight affected my entire life. I stayed away from parties and groups simply because of my size. I hated myself...

Some people can be heavy and healthy---and still love themselves and continue to live their lives to the fullest. I think you are that way... You LOVE life --and even though you think you need to lose some weight, the best thing I can say is NOT to let that weight totally control your life (like I did).

I lost alot of weight SEVERAL times during the years... When I lost, my whole personality changed and I felt SO good. BUT--I would always gain it all back. STUPID ---since I'm a smart person. How could I gain it back???? BUT--I always did, until THIS TIME.

But--I'll admit that I work harder now than I ever did when dieting. It's much harder---but I'm determined... Oh Well--sorry for the length of this. Sounds like I need to do another blog about ATTITUDE.

You will be fine, my Friend... Just be YOU--and be HAPPY. Don't ever let your weight control you or who you are...

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  3. Shug,I think of you as a sweet, loving and cheerful person.I am in the "HEALTHY" class as well.My weight is only a part of me,if it bothers someone else then they need to get over it. You find the place that is best for you and know that you are loved.

  5. I've been working HARD on the 15.2 pounds I gained in three months after deciding to put our house on the market... The most in one short burst I've had. It is so much work to get it off, but you are absolutely right in everything you said. I just don't know why we always go back to our bad ways. I'm going to have to check out Betsy's blog for some inspiration, too. Thank you, Shug. I'm cheering you on. blessings ~ tanna

  6. Shug, I love the way you write. It's as though we're sitting here having a conversation in your living room.

I hear you on the exercise thing; I know I need it, so thank you for the reminder.

I have adopted a healthier eating lifestyle (except on weekends). The first thing I did is ditched refined sugar as much as possible. Those store items that say "low fat" don't tell you that they doubled the amount of sugar to make it palatable. Diet drinks are another no-no. They trick your body into thinking you ingested sugar, which makes you crave all kinds of other bad food.

Well, I am off my high horse now. I am confident you can do this and will pray it is so. :)

  7. Funny you should mention that. I agree one hundred per cent. I already have had a weight problem for several years now, but I've gained weight this winter for lack of opportunity to do anything but EAT. We've had snow and ice on the ground and the streets since November, not to mention the single digit temps with wind, and I hate exercising on machines and prefer walking. None of that!
When I try dieting, I end up gaining because I obsess on food and I cheat. Stupid, huh! I don't even like the gal I've become and my clothes are tight. Yes, knowing what to do and doing it are miles apart! Last night we had horrible thunder and lightening and rain, which is melting our 15 inches of snow, but it's also causing flooding. No walking this week.
    Good post. You're still gorgeous.
    Great luck to you!
