What are little boys made of? Frogs, snails and puppy dog tails!..................
Believe or not, there are still some kids out there that love to entertain themselves the old fashioned way....Fishing, hunting, playing at the lake, swimming, riding the gator, and just plain having fun.
We took Tucker and three of his friends, down to the farm on Labor Day Monday. Their main goal was to spend the morning fishing. The moment their feet hit the pier, they were being entertained.
Their eyes were centered in on the massive number of frog eggs that were attached to the pier. I must say, I was pretty impressed with them myself.
This one was huge! You could actually see the little tadpoles swimming out of it.
I couldn't believe how many eggs were in the lake. Unbelievable!
After the guys got past the frog eggs, they made their way to the boat. We figured they would fish for an hour or so and then they would be ready find something else to do. They ended up fishing for about 5 hours. Of course, none of us ever saw any of the fish that they claimed to have caught.
This wasn't the end to their day.....they came back home and jumped into the pool for about an hour, before heading back down to the farm to ride the gator. With approximately 700 acres to roam around on, I would venture to say that the gas tank was probably running on fumes by the time they ended their day.
It was wonderful to see these young guys entertaining themselves by just being boys. I would have loved to have had a little microphone attached to their shirt tales! I'm pretty sure there were some interesting conversations taking place!! Lots of frogs, maybe a few snails, but I didn't see any puppy dog tails.
...boys will be boys!

WOW-, what a mess of frog eggs, don't think I have ever seen such a large mass. Wonderful, isn't it, when the kids still want to be kids. I love that they played like we did instead of being glued to the TV. Our GrandLoves are outside constantly when they visit. We don't care if they get dirty., it comes out in the wash. Loved this lighthearted read.

ReplyDeleteIt certainly is nice to see little boys outside and interested in nature. We had a bbq on Sunday and my cousins little boys actually played with the outdoor games we bought. My son thought they would be engrossed in video games, but the adults got them interested and they took over. It was delightful!
