I forgot to post about the Super Bowl..

I failed to write about our Super Bowl evening at our youngest daughters home.  Tom and Shanda hosted our family (those that could come) over to watch the game.

We had burgers from the grill along with all the fixings... I made a new cheese dip (new to me) and I must say...it was very good.

A block of Colby Jack cheese
A block of Pepper Jack cheese
One block of cream cheese
A can of Rotel tomatoes.
A can of green chilies.
1 pound of browned hamburger meat cooked with a package of taco seasoning.....DRAIN after browned.
Place in a cast iron skillet and warm until you can stir everything together..
DO NOT HEAT PAST 150 degrees.

Place in cast iron skillet to heat...

(as a side note....if this gets too warm the cheeses begin to turn grainy, so it is best to warm just before serving)

In the photo below, you can see that Trista was our 1st quarter entertainment.

She had invested in a square that the Ag department at school was selling as a fund raiser.  Guess what....she won!!!  Her numbers were 9 and 0 and so she ended up with the winning square for the score at the end of the first quarter.   $200.00!!  not bad for a $20.00 donation.

It was fun watching her excitement...

Half Time Show?   We watched the alternative half time event. I don't speak Spanish, so I would not have known what the songs were about anyways coming from Bad Bunny...🤔  LOL 😐

The half time shows were not our main goal for the evening...it was more about gathering, eating and spending time laughing... This we did a lot of.   We all were rooting for the Seahawks, which made the night a Win, Win!!    Go Kansas City Chiefs for 2027!!

Moving on from this.......↑↑↑↑↑

Our weather has been so nice this week..  Lots of sunshine with temps reaching the upper 70's.  So many little Buds are now popping out on the tulip trees around here.

I'll leave you all with this painted rock that we found a few years ago while visiting over in South Carolina..

Be Unique!   Happy Friday the 13th.

Shug...💛

  1. Your cheese dip sounds delicious, Shug. Thank you for sharing the recipe. Congratulations to Trista on her win! Our weather hasn't been quite as "wintry" as it has been in the past and next week the forecast is calling for highs in the 50s all week!

  2. The cheese dip sounds like a winner, but the gatherings I go to are smallish and your recipe would be way too much.

  3. I love that rock!
Your night with family sounds so fun. Hooray for Trista!
Your cheese dip looks wonderful. I used to make something similar and haven't done it for some time, I just forgot about it. :) Now I'm saving yours to try - thank you!

  4. Sounds like a fun family event! your family is so good at that. congrats to Crystal on the win. We used fast forward to get through the half time, trying to find the good part, and ended up leaving it alone. Bob already knew the score and had recorded it to watch, because we go to bed at 7 and get up at 3, at 4 am he was watching it. He said do you know who won? I answered yes, do you want to know? Yes, tell me... I watched none of it except when he pointed out what someone did that he thouhgt was great and when he rewound and I watched, I just said Yay and had no idea what he meant. Paint dry is about how I feel about sports.

  8. What a fun Super Bowl celebration. Trista winning $200.00 is really awesome.
We enjoyed the alternative half time show too. So glad there was something else to watch.
Yummm on your cheese dip. I would probably have to eat a few chips to make my eating the dip "legal"

  9. I love that rock. I lead a craft at church and we all made them. I KNOW YOU COULD DO THAT. I agree with you about Bad Bunny. Can't say I really loved the other one either though. Congrats on your daughter winning $200. I would love that cheese dip, but my stomach would not!

  12. I love Trista's enthusiasm! We too rooted for the Seahawks (our daughter and fam live in the Seattle area) and watched the Turning Point Half-Time Show. Country music is not my genre of choice, but was delighted to have an alternative. Also delighted to hear that 25 million or so opted for TPUSA's show over Bad Bunny's!

  13. Looks like your family had a great time together, and that dip sounds yummy!! How neat that Trista won the $200.00! That's really cool! No wonder she was so excited! We ended up with just the two of us watching the game together. Our kids were going to come, but Rose was not feeling very well and they decided it was best to stay home. We did watch the alternative half time show as well. And then we went to bed not long after as the SeaHawks were winning really big at Half time, and we were too tired to stay up to the end. Sounds like it got more interesting in the 2nd half.
Glad you are feeling better now also! Have a blessed Valentine's weekend!

  14. We make a dip that we like a pound of Italian Sausage browned, at least a pound of Velveeta cheese, a can of Hormel Chili with no beans, a brick of philly cream cheese and some jalapenos as many or as few as you wish. I use my cast iron skillet..the Grands and Greats love the dip. Hope you have a good weekend!

  17. It is always fun winning draws!
I enjoy Bad Bunny. He told a wonderful story of the history of his people. Spanish isn't that far off of French, so I was interested. My grandkid used to correct my French as they are fluent, with a French Canadian papa!
