What is worth standing in line for??
Standing in line to watch my grandkids play ball, perform, graduate. In January, we stood in line at the ATT arena in Dallas to watch Mylee play basketball....This is the big arena where the Dallas Mavericks play. Pretty Awesome. Last October, would stood in line to watch our grandson graduate from Air Force to Space Force!! Absolutely worth standing in line to be seated...
2. Tell us about a favorite food related memory.
My Dad's grilled chicken for one....and then my mom's pan of dressing at Thanksgiving. I have tried and tried to make dressing like her's, but the taste is just not the same. Her Dressing had all of the right ingredients and seasonings to make a perfect pan of the tastiest Thanksgiving meal.
3. What are some things you find particularly peaceful or calming?
When my pool water sparkles like it's been sprinkled with diamonds. Or better yet, any time I can come across a clear river....Just sitting there is so peaceful as I listen to the steady rhythm of the water passing by...Of course, being able to put my feet in that water makes it extra special.
4. Is there something you do now that gets you just as excited as it did when you were a child?
I am a big kid at heart.....and I love art, so opening a new box of crayons is big time!! Especially if the box is 64 count with a sharpener built in. And....Lights really get me excited. Christmas lights...little white twinkling lights...the big bulb lights that we had on our Christmas tree when I was little. It honestly doesn't take much to make my heart fill with excitement.
5. To what degree are you in touch with friends from grade school? high school? college if you attended college?
I have lunch with these ladies at least once a month. We all graduated together and have remained very close friends. We are taking a trip to Branson in a couple of months....lots of fun to come!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Sam and I have traveled to Dallas several times in the past couple of months....Traffic is terrible and we always try to beat "The Traffic Rush."
My random thought is: Why is it called "RUSH HOUR" when nothing is moving?? It is terrible being stuck in traffic. LOL. 😍 just a random thought.

Thanks for joining in today. I added your link so you're all set. I guess it's rush hour because everybody is rushing home? It doesn't make sense though lol. Congrats to your grandson. I don't know anyone in the Space Force but I suppose that's the future. I still love a new box of crayons too : )

ReplyDeleteI read everyone’s answer and then I remember good memories and things I would stand in line for. Maybe I should think on them more than just giving off-the-cuff answers. That’s amazing your class still meet. I believe one reason, why so many in high school went their own ways was the “times” we were living in. So much turmoil. Plus I moved over the hill from my coastal town and basically started over.I went to one class reunion and never again. It was so depressing hearing all those who didn’t make it to ten years. Sad.
Standing in line reminds me of “Hurry up and wait" which is idiom in the military, describing being rushed to complete a task or arrive at a location, only to then be required to wait for an extended period. My husband always reminds me of this.

Oh wow! What proud moments to stand in line for and your food memories did make me smile. My great aunt made the most amazing fruit scones and I have tried and they just don't taste the same.

ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to meet a fellow Texan and one who also tries to avoid the Dallas "rush-hour" traffic at all costs. We live in Plano and only get on the North Dallas Toll Road when there is no alternative. We call it the Autobahn. Also, I refuse to use 75! I so enjoyed reading all your answers today and will be praying for clean MRI results in October.
ReplyDeleteAh, Mom's dressing, so amazing! I'm kicking myself for not standing next to her and writing down the recipe as she prepared it. How wonderful that your high school class has regular reunions. I'm only in touch with many of my classmates on Facebook as they are all so spread out. Praying for Sam and congratulations to your grandson.

ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a class reunion since my 10th and they just had the45th this year. There are a few from high-school that I'm in touch with on Facebook but not many
