Morning Aspirations:
I am a morning person. No alarm to wake up is needed. My eyes pop open around 5:30 - 6:00 A.M.
When I wake up, I usually toss and turn for about 15 minutes before I finally decide to get out of bed. My hair is always a huge mess and I generally have a circle or two under my eyes. Some mornings I feel like I'm running a marathon with only one shoe on, while trying to grab my first cup of coffee. Other mornings, I hop right up and head for the coffee bar.
Can any of you relate?
Some mornings, I hear a quiet, steady voice.....gently reminding me of the affirmations I need, to carry me through the day. To tell you the truth, I've come to think of these affirmations as my daily verbal vitamins....(just like my vit A, C, D3, etc)....But this particular verbal vitamin nourishes my spirit and reminds me of what I'm capable of.
I usually start my mornings with one of those mirror pep talks...."Hey you...Hey Shug....your face may have a few extra wrinkles today, but sweetie...those are just laugh lines." "You have earned them, so wear them proudly."
Then I inhale and exhale a few times, just trying to get my attitude in check.. I need it to be wrapped in Grace in order for me to continue my day with smiles.
As soon as these things are taken care of, I repeat this one sentence each and every day.
"Today, I choose peace over panic....I will walk in joy and let go of comparison. I am enough, even when I feel behind."
And you know what? When I wink at myself in the mirror, it gives me all the pizazz that I need, to start the day.
Do I sound crazy? lol. My morning aspirations are like sacred moments of alignments for me. Even just 30 seconds each morning of intention, can mean the difference between me reacting to life or responding with a good purpose. If you don't already do this.....Go ahead and try it!!! That wink at myself each morning....keeps getting funnier and funnier.
Happy Monday....Y'all

I wake up with that day's chore list in my head. I like the sounds of your waking up time *much* better, Shug! I do kiss my kitty on the top of her sweet head tho, first thing in the morning, & she's come to expect it. She even raises the top of her little head up to my lips if I'm taking too long in bending down. I go potty myself, sweep the floor around the kitty box in my bathroom, scoop out the box, wash my hands, feed kitty, get her fresh water, and then I start thinking about my coffee (instant). It's like my coffee is my reward for getting those first things done. I loved hearing about your routine, Shug. I like it very very much. Love, Andrea xoxo

DeleteA little daily positivity goes a long way and does far more good than endless introspection.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! So this is one of the secrets to how you are always so uplifting and creative!! I need to try it. along with the coffee, of course!
ReplyDeleteShug, this spoke to me so much today. First I too wake at 5:30 - 6:00 no alarm needed.
ReplyDeleteI plan to copy your saying... I have been struggling lately with keeping JOYFUL.
Thank you so much for sharing,
Carla
My hair is also a mess, and there may be some bags under my eyes too! I sleep till about 7:30 though, so you are much earlier than I am. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI prefer tea to coffee...my favourite being Earl Grey, after that black tea (English breakfast tea|) I am not as a morning person as yourself, but I am a walker! Today I walked two to three hours!!! Yes, I did. I will be sore tomorrow, but it was such a gorgeous day that I wanted to be out and about and I definitely was. :) Oh yes, and this was after my 8:00 a.m. blood test and then breakfast! I took plenty of photos of my walk today which I will share in my upcoming blog posts.
ReplyDeleteYou are a lovely person, Shug, and such an inspiration. God bless you.
I don't know if I've related to a post more my Friend. 😂 From the crazy hair in the AM's to the some days slow struggle to get moving and others springing to the coffee bar. Lol My devotional time is my rock every day too. I don't wink at myself...but I might need to add that. I do talk to myself. And the dog and the cat and my flowers and the noisy woodpecker and the bunnies in the yard and...well, anything else forced to listen to me. If anyone hung out in my backyard when I water my flowers they would think I need to be committed. 😁
ReplyDeleteBlessings on your week ahead kindred Soul. xoxo
