What Can Duct Tape Do?

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me....
                                        Philippians  4:13

Known fact:  You can do almost anything with "Duct Tape"

I have truly been amazed at all the things that people are doing with duct tape these days...   With all the new colors, people are designing all kinds of items out of this stuff....Purses, flowers, jackets, and as you can see...house shoes!
This stuff is STRONG....

Yesterday, my dad bought a  toy for Mylee at one of our local shops in town.  It wasn't anything big.....just a cheap little musical toy.  I had a good feeling that it might not last very long.  What can you expect from a toy, when the total cost of it was $3.04?

Within minutes of being home, she dropped it and a couple of pieces fell off.....Mylee just looked up at me and said: "My mom can fix it, she can fix anything."    My heart just melted at her innocent statement of belief, that her mom could fix ANYTHING.    What amazing Trust!!

You know, many of us go throughout our day, fixing all kinds of stuff.  A lot of times, we do depend on things like duct tape to help us put things back together.  We glue items in order to make them hold up.  We use a hammer and nails to secure wooden objects, and we do this to either fix something or to make it strong...

I am so thankful that I have {God} as my strength.  The strength that HE gives me each day, is much stronger than any duct tape or any kind of gorilla glue, hammer or nail.  I can depend on His strength to help me do ANYTHING!!

Thank you Lord for your never ending love and strength..

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday....

Shug !     Oh yes......GO BEARS!!

A little Cooking going on......

Source

Yum......the smell of Fall is in my kitchen!

I actually baked Banana Nut Bread yesterday and oh my, the
smell in my kitchen was heavenly.

I always have to bake two separate batches of the stuff...
Some of my kiddos are not crazy about pecans or walnuts, so therefore, I have to try to accommodate them all.

We tell them.....don't tell anyone that you don't like Pecans!
After all, growing high quality Pecan trees is how we make our living!

I really had forgotten just how easy this recipe is......it takes no time at all to make.

2 cups flour
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
3-4 mashed bananas
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp soda

Cream butter and sugar....
add   eggs and bananas
add  flour, soda, and vanilla

Bake at 375 for 45 min..

Turns out moist and delicious every time!!

It felt pretty good to get back in the kitchen, so I continued baking (chocolate chip cookies) just after the bread came out
of the oven...

I love to wrap each cookie individually and put them out for the kids to have when they get home from school...
I sometimes add a little note to each cookie, by writing on the outside of the wrap!  Makes it special!

I'm thinking that my Boot Camp may have put some
kick into my step........

Enjoy the Blessings of this day........

Embracing the Challenges

Well.....I am fully embracing the challenges that life is bringing me right now!
........Hey, I can hardly move at this moment, but at least I am out there giving it my all.

I am extremely blessed to have daughters that care about me.  They both care about my well being, and therefore....they have
made the decision (for me) that I would
join them at BOOT CAMP!

My Thoughts:  Boot Camp?  Must be a place to go and sport a brand new pair of those fancy looking cowgirl boots....Maybe sit around and sip on a glass of refreshing, ice cold tea....Chat a while, and then relax in one of those hammocks like I've been dreaming of.   I was thinking:  "I CAN DO THIS."

I attended the first class, this past Monday night!  As a result, I can barely move right now...   Let me just say, it's definitely not as I described in the paragraph above!!

I decided that if I was going to be forced to work off some of this fat, then I deserved to buy myself a new t-shirt to work out in.....Don't you love it?

let me tell your Gurls....and any men out there that might be reading this.....
I was sweating in places that I didn't even know could sweat.  {...my toes, and the ends of my fingertips}

I found myself being on a roll for just a bit there.  Oh Yes, touching my toes, doing jumping jacks, walking, drinking my water like the rest of the group was doing, and then....I heard the instructor said:  "Hit the floor"

Good grief....what on earth was she talking about here?
Evidently she did not realize that for someone who has not exercised in a L-O-N-G while, it takes a LOT of effort and time to GET on the floor and it takes double the effort and time to GET up OFF the floor.

By the time I got down on my mat, I heard them say: and 3, 2, 1.    This means that they had already finished counting the 17 other numbers that it takes to make a count of 20.

I did my BEST though.....   We had to jump the wall and I actually jumped high enough that a credit card could slip between my shoes and the floor!!

and I am thankful that I am able to make it to the gym...I'm thankful that I have girls who believe in me.....I am thankful for each new day!

God Bless you all and Great Big Hugs

Boys will be Boys....

What are little boys made of?   Frogs, snails and puppy dog tails!..................

Believe or not, there are still some kids out there that love to entertain themselves the old fashioned way....Fishing, hunting, playing at the lake, swimming, riding the gator, and just plain having fun.

We took Tucker and three of his friends, down to the farm on Labor Day Monday.  Their main goal was to spend the morning fishing.  The moment their feet hit the pier, they were being entertained.

Their eyes were centered in on the massive number of frog eggs that were attached to the pier.  I must say, I was pretty impressed with them myself.

This one was huge!  You could actually see the little tadpoles swimming out of it.

I couldn't believe how many eggs were in the lake. Unbelievable!

After the guys got past the frog eggs, they made their way to the boat.  We figured they would fish for an hour or so and then they would be ready find something else to do.  They ended up fishing for about 5 hours.  Of course, none of us ever saw any of the fish that they claimed to have caught.

This wasn't the end to their day.....they came back home and jumped into the pool for about an hour, before heading back down to the farm to ride the gator.  With approximately 700  acres to roam around on, I would venture to say that the gas tank was probably running on fumes by the time they ended their day.

It was wonderful to see these young guys entertaining themselves by just being boys.  I would have loved to have had a little microphone attached to their shirt tales!  I'm pretty sure there were some interesting conversations taking place!!  Lots of frogs, maybe a few snails, but I didn't see any puppy dog tails.

...boys will be boys!

Hugs,

Is It the Lazy's?

Crud...and can I say crud again?  Just take a look at the picture above.  This is where I want to be everyday, all day long!  Most of you probably already know this, because I really have not been putting much into each of my blog post, lately.  Be honest, how many of you can tell?

Yesterday, I asked Sam if he thought I was getting lazy or if he thought I was just extremely tired.  Thank goodness, he didn't say LAZY!  I'm thinking I might not have taken that too well if he had gone with the answer that begins with a "L"

I think I'm way disappointed in myself right now.
Why?  Because I am actually suffering from laziness or the "Just Don't Care's."  Oh, I know...I'll blame it on the heat!

I think I need a good ol' kick in the pants or, I need a prescription for some kind of positive emotions exercise, right about now.

                           Doesn't this look comfortable?

Check this out.....I haven't used my camera in about a month or so.  I have not created anything  new in the decorating world, for about three or four months.  What's up with this?  I certainly do not know!  I love to create...but right now, the (ove) seems to be missing from the word Love when it comes to decorating and creating.  In other words, I've kinda lost part of my love!

The kitchen?   I am struggling to get back in the kitchen, and I have no idea why.  My interest is just not there.  We watch cooking shows all the time and as I'm sitting there watching them, I really get excited.....until it's my time to go to the kitchen....

Nope, it's not depression....I've been there a few times, and this isn't it....   The best way to describe  it is to say I feel like I've been bucked off of a horse and am in need of some much needed rest.

I need to check with my Canadian friends to see if the swirling fog is still bouncing off of the Falls, at Niagara Falls....Perhaps I brought it home with me...and perhaps it's what is causing my brain fog.

I plan to mention this to my doctor this week, when I go for my check-up, but I can already hear his answer....."I think you need a sleep study test."

It's absolutely not that I'm sleep deprived!!  Oh no, no, no!

So....who wants to come on down and give me one of those swift "kick in pants" with a Texas size boot? Maybe, just maybe this is what I need to re-energize my body!

Football mania

Happy Sunday evening y'all....

I am not a late sleeper.   My day just seems to run much smoother, when I wake up early and get the ball rolling!
I feel as if I've wasted my day if I sleep later than 6:30 in the morning.

Yesterday morning was a different story....I actually slept until 8:oo.  Friday night was a late night for me!!

I didn't crawl into bed until around 11:30  or so on Saturday.
I know, for many of you, this is NOT LATE.....but for someone who normally goes to bed with the chickens, this is late!

It was FOOTBALL mania for this crew!  Our game this week was "out of town" meaning that we drove about 75 miles to play the Crandall Pirates!

Can I tell you, the BEARS were the BOMB last!  Oh yes....the score was 40 for the Bears and 20 for the Pirates.
It was an awesome game!

Now, it's time for a little "Shug" bragging..... Our precious grandson, scored two beautiful touchdowns!!!  Whoop, Whoop!

Oh yes, I was just a little hoarse the next morning, with a tad of a sore throat!  Maybe a little too much excitement for this young chick.  I think I was the biggest fan in the crowd.

I am loving me some football right now!  Just "Bear" with me,
I'll get back to my somewhat normal post....real soon!

Have a great Sunday!
