Such a Beautiful Sky this morning!!
We have no Wifi or TV service this morning which means I am posting from my phone!! This makes it a little harder to make a post! We had a notice that it should be back on by 10:30 A.M.
I have finally decided upon my word for the year... I guess you could say that I plan to use this word sorta like a "Gentle" compass for my heart. The good thing is, I can choose this word, but there really are no demands placed on me. I think it will add perhaps a steady focus that I can reach out to when life feels scattered. Much prayer went into making sure that this word was for ME.
My word is not one that most people would choose, and I can't really say that it's one that I would have grabbed. This particular word was placed on my heart for a reason!!!
I think it will be a guide me in my everyday moments, and if I allow it to, it will meet me in the ordinary things of life as well as the unexpected things. This is what I am hoping for and what I believe the word is for.
One thing that I've come to realize about choosing a word for the year is that everything doesn't have to change all at once. I will grow with this word! My goal is to let the meaning of the word, along with scripture, sink deep and influence me in my walk forward, one day at a time.
So....what is this small word?

Oh Shug, that sky shot is absolutely mesmerizing. It reminds me of the stripes on our wonderful U.S. Flag!
ReplyDeleteI think listening to what one's heart is telling us is key. And how can we hear what it's telling us if we're not Still? Great choice, my friend!
Shug, I have a tear in my eye because this is my favorite Bible verse for many reasons. And STILL is a perfect word. I don't choose a new word for the new year, but if I did, this certainly would be top of the list. As you remember this word throughout the year, it will help you tremendously. Sometimes things are thrown at us from every angle, and being still and knowing that God is with us always is a very special feeling. Thank you for your post this morning, Shug. It made my heart smile. : )
ReplyDelete" The expectation of being anchored" what a statement.Being anchored and being Still...Love it and love you.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is an everyday challenge but knowing who the Anchor is and how it grips the solid Rock ... Love the song In Times Like These ... be very sure your anchor holds and grips the solid Rock. This Rock is Jesus
Sue
Shug, I just love, love, love that word. I totally understand it and love the bible verses you wrote. Slow down and be still - think about what you are doing. Jesus is your anchor!
ReplyDeleteI would never have known that you posted this form your phone. Your photo of the yellow and orange stripped sky behind the trees is gorgeous!!!! You sure built up a lot of suspense about your word. I think it is a great one! And the first thing I thought of was the Psalm 46 quote.
ReplyDeleteThat is the perfect word for you, Shug, especially with all you have going on in your life right now. And you didn't choose it, it chose you! I will be revealing mine not this week but the next. I had confirmation at church today that I made the right choice, the one that was meant to be for 2026. Blessings!
ReplyDelete"Be still and know that I am God."
ReplyDeletePsalm 46:10
Amen Shug. What a beautiful choice for 2026. May it be blessed for you and your family.
God bless.
Oh yes!! I totally relate to the word "Still". When we moved here beside this pond (that is now dry for a spell), I named it "Still Waters Pond", because He leads me beside the STILL waters, He restores my soul..." (23rd Psalm). Right now my pond has dried up and I am trying not to be anxious about it, but continue to "be still and know that I AM GOD." He is in control in all things, and we can trust Him. We just need to listen for that "still small voice". I think you will truly love that word for this year.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful word choice. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite songs comes from a Catholic singer named David Kauffman. It's called "Be Still", and is very contemplative.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this word for you! Isn't it exciting to think how He will use it in your life as you ponder His working in your life this year? xx
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful sky. It looks like it has stripes.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good word for the year.
I LOOOOVE still. I love stillness. The other day when shoveling, shoveling and shoveling, when I needed a rest I just stood outside in stillness. It is one of my fave things to do. Even when out with the macro lens. It's that stillness. Soooo nice.
ReplyDeleteWonderful word. Excited to see where you go with it.
That sky is gorgeous, and what a wise choice for your word. Thank you so much for blogging. Love, hugs, and prayers always. ❤️
ReplyDeleteThe sky is amazing, and skies are my favorite thing to watch, and being still looking at that sky is a great way to start your word for this year. I find it difficult to be STILL, physically and mentally and spiritually. I need to practice your word and see if I can improve
ReplyDeleteShug, that's the perfect word. Be still and know that God is with you, he will fight for you, he will never leave you, nor forsake you. I pray for peace over you and Sam this new year. Hugging you today :) Happy New Year!
