What is going on??

What is going on?  This one is hard to understand.

So, Sam's dad (my FIL) was released from the hospital on Friday.... He was transported back to the Nursing Home where he has been living for the past year, by ambulance.  When he arrived at the Nursing Home, Sam was told that his dad could No Longer go back to the Memory care unit!!  What??

He was in the hospital for 5 days and now all of a sudden he can not go back to where he has been living for the past year??  He no longer needs Memory care? The reason per the Nursing Home?  It has something to do with medicare and Insurance.  Perhaps medical folks can understand this, but we don't.

Our question is: Why would medicare  or insurance have a say in this???

He has been on "Private Pay" ever since he came to the place. Private pay, as in Nothing filed on medicare and nothing filed on insurance.  Every dime spent for his care has come out of his bank account.  The entire Nursing facility is a Private Pay only facility.

How could there be any truth to this!!

In the mean time, he was placed in a skilled nursing unit where the room is 1/4 of the size of where he was but yet the price is MORE!  None of this makes any sense to me.

Sam and his brother have an appointment with the Nursing Home administrators on Monday morning to try to get some answers.  Hopefully they will be able to find out what Medicare and Insurance has to do with this.

I personally do not trust this place and if it were up to me, I would be looking at other places that can give him the care he needs as well as a living area that is more convenient for his needs.  I mean, Health care is not cheap and if you have to pay private pay, then you should have some choices.

Maybe this will get resolved tomorrow and maybe....just maybe the guys will look elsewhere.

Other News: 📰

1.  The newlyweds, their dogs, and our other grandson (Tucker) and his family left this morning, headed home ..... out to West Texas!  Sam and I are flying out next weekend to visit them!!  We probably should have done some better planning on this trip, since they have all been home for the past week.

We were just trying to schedule a time to fly out and visit them and see their new homes before Sam has to have any medical treatments done.  I'll have to be honest...this is not my kind of country!!  I prefer tall pine trees and NO tumbleweeds.

2. I purchased a small drop leaf table at an estate sell this past Friday..  It is just the perfect size for area I placed it in.

3.  I had blood work done this past Friday and no wonder that I have been exhausted...My Thyroid level is way off.  Seems like it is being very sluggish and needs to be boosted up a bit.  I've taken thyroid meds since I was 18 and ever once in a while my levels drop significantly.

Okay..this is it for me today, friends. My brain has officially clocked out, my news ticker is empty.  If anything else happens around here, it will just have to wait until tomorrow's broadcast.

Big hugs and lots of wishes for your day to be awesome!!

  1. Gosh I have to tell you - my friend that I blogged about has been moved four times. I do not understand all this either. If you find out, please let us know.
I love that folded table - my mom had one.
Hope you get your thyroid back in order. You have been under so much stress.

  2. Oh, Shug, I don't understand the situation with Sam's dad at all. I mean, it is already private care and now they complain about Medicare and insurance? I do hope Sam and his brother can get to the bottom of this mess tomorrow. Moves to anywhere for a person who has memory issues can be traumatic to say the least. I hope your thyroid gets back to normal, too. Danny had thyroid issues brought on by having to take Amiodarone for too long. Now that he's had the ablation, everything should improve. Keep us posted!!!

  3. Oh Shug, I am so sorry to hear this about Sam's dad. The elderly should be taken care of immensely and immediately. I'm sure Sam will get answers when he talks to the administration. I hope it all works out for his dad, bless his heart. That is ONE BIG tumbleweed! Shug, I love your little drop leaf table, and I've seen those back in the day; they're so quaint and just right to put our favorite treasures on. Those flowers are such a pretty color. I hope you start to feel better with your thyroid. Take care, my sweet friend.

  4. Good Grief!!!! This is just not right!! Please let me know what happens tomorrow. It is totally unbelievable. I have this drop leaf table handed down from my family. It came over in a covered wagon many years ago. I love what you did with it, and your pretty fall drapes! I have taken thyroid meds for many years. It is amazing how well they work! You should be feeling so much better!!! Praising God for this answer!!
