I went into "Home Goods" yesterday with the innocent intention of "just browsing" (famous last words.)
The moment I walked in, it was like I had stepped onto the set of a low-budget Halloween horror movie....except, this one was sponsored by Glitter!!! There were so many items covered in glitter!! Orange, Purple, Black, Green, and Hot Pink Glitter....
Pumpkins were everywhere.....glass pumpkins, velvet pumpkins, sparkly pumpkins, scary pumpkins and even a few plain black pumpkins. They were stacked everywhere.... on tables, the floor and the shelves.
This one was very cute!!!
It was scary walking down the isles where the glass pumpkins were on display. There were so many of them! If one shelve just so happened to fall, it could easily become a domino effect of clinking, clanking, crashing chaos. And, what if I were standing there when such a thing happened?? 👀
Can you just imagine the News Headlines?
"Local woman Buried Alive in Glitter and Gourds......the skeletons offered no help."
Then came the skeletons!! The tallest one I have ever seen stood proudly in a corner of the store. I know it had to be at least 10 feet tall. There were others that were lounging in chairs like they were waiting for a pumpkin spice latte to be delivered to them. Cute? They really were cute the way the store had them displayed, and there were plenty of lookers.
I couldn't help but wonder, where on earth do people store these giants once Halloween is over? Then I remembered a house tucked away in a neighborhood on the other side of town. They have a huge skeleton (not quite as massive as the one I saw today) that stays out all year long. They simply dress it for the season......Santa hat in December, Bunny ears in April, a Flag shirt on the 4th of July and a scary skeleton for Halloween...with green blinking eyes..
It was freezing in the store, but I think I know why. If they cranked up the thermostat even slightly, those plastic bones would most likely sag faster than a Texas jack-o-lantern.... (the week after Halloween.) With the heat we have been having, I'm convinced the plastic bones would suffer. I don't want to ever complain about the feeling of arctic air in the heat of the Summer, but I must admit it really was cold in this store.
I left with goosebumps and one single cup that I purchased... Total spent? My time plus $4.63 of my cash.
I didn't take any pictures of the skeletons.....
How many of you have a "Home Goods" store near by???
If they sell every Halloween item in that store, this place is going to make a lot of money!! lol.
Shug....🎃

Now I am curious as to whether or not our Home Goods store is all decked out with scariness...and glitter. Hmmm...I'm thinking I may need to make a trip there next week just to find out. :) I loved the headline you created! You are such a clever and talented writer, my friend. You need to write a book! xx
ReplyDeleteWe do have a Home Goods store near us but we never seem to find anything when we go there. I'm not a fan of skeletons, but I could check out their pumpkins! Glad you made it out alive with your wallet intact! :)
ReplyDeleteGlitter and gourds sounds like the title of a song ... or best seller horror novel!
ReplyDeleteI think we've a Home Goods in nearby Prattville; now you make me want to put it on my agenda. Stay tuned!
The headline you concocted cracked me up, Shug, no pun intended. We do have a neighbor who keeps their skeleton out all year long, though it's kept toward the back of their house until Halloween. This thing is so tall, I can't even imagine toting it anywhere. Have a blessed weekend!
ReplyDeleteHallowe'en is becoming a bigger and bigger event. The headmaster of one school I taught in strongly disapproved of Hallowe'en and would not allow any mention of it, and certainly no decorations. This was hard on the young children who were full of excitement about going trick or treating.
ReplyDelete😊❤️
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Home Goods. But I try not to shop there for two reasons. One is money that I will surely spend, and the other is where do I put the decorations. I would have to rent a storage unit and spend more money. But they sure have GREAT things there.
ReplyDeleteYou and I both went to Home Goods, and I took photos as well! But I haven't posted mine yet, I need to get on the ball with it! Phil is having a heart cath as well, so both he and Sam will be having one. You gave me a really good laugh today when I needed it most!
ReplyDeleteWhow! What an awesome store. We don't have a Home Goods in my area. What an experience. I really enjoyed your blog posting very much. Your heading of the sunflower is really pretty. Happy Fall!
ReplyDeleteWe do not have a Home Goods store here but there is one up in Grand Forks, however I have not been inside:) Hi to Sam!
ReplyDeleteHere in Montreal, we have Marshalls and Home Sense and they are fun stores! Thanks so much for sharing about this store, Shug.
ReplyDeleteI have to stay away from home decor stores unless I have a real and specific need. The merchandise is too tempting.
ReplyDeleteThere is a Home Goods about a half hour away near the mall. I've only been in there a couple times because they prices were a litte high for this cheapskate.
ReplyDeleteIt's Halloween already! Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. I bet that at a dance those skeletons would have no body to dance with.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I LOVE HomeGoods/HomeSense. I go there all the time. They had stuff out months ago here and I LOVE IT. Halloween, Summerween and Glamoween. All fun things. TJ/TK Maxx have fun stuff too, depending on the location.
ReplyDeleteHappy Summerwee. Happy Glamoween. Happy Halloween.
