Two Months and Counting.

In just two short months, our youngest grandson Trey and his beautiful finacee Savannah will be tying the knot.  It seems like yesterday they were announcing their engagement, and now the big day is almost here.

I honestly can't remember if I've shared this update or not....(imagine that)....but their journey to the altar has hit a few unexpected bumps.  The venue they had carefully chosen and fully paid for, recently contacted them with the news that no couple wants to hear: the business has gone under, and they will no longer be able to host the wedding.  As of today, no refund has been issued.  To say this has been stressful would be an understatement.  Wedding Venues are not cheap!!  This in itself might be an UNDERSTATEMENT!!  I just wonder how many other couples who booked this popular venue are having the same issue...with no return on their money?

To make matters more complicated, most other venues in the area are completely booked for their wedding date.  And yes, the invitations have already gone out.....with the original date and the now cancelled venue, printed in lovely script on them.  Talk about a curveball!!

But...here's the thing.  I truly believe this will still work out beautifully.  Somewhere, somehow, the right spot will open for them. Maybe it wont' look like the original plan, but it will be special, sacred, and filled with love.

It amazes me how weddings rarely take place in churhes anymore.  I know I'm a bit old-fashioned, but there's something so meaningful and peaceful about exchanging vows in God's house.  Just something to think about, right?

At the end of the day, it's not about the chandeliers or the view.  It's about two hearts, standing side by side, beginning their forever.

I have no doubt that Trey and Savannah's wedding ..... wherever it's held ...... will be filled with the kind of love that shines even brighter when tested.

Two months and counting, y'all......it will be here before we turn around.  This young couple already has a STORY don't they?

"Sometimes the detour leads to the most meaningful destination. Love doesn't need a perfect venue....just two hearts ready to say "I do."

  1. That is so sad about their Venue. I hope they get a refund soon...but if the people have gone out of business it may take some time. Sure hope it says something in the contract they signed. Uffda. Poor kids I bet they are stressed out.

  2. Oh that’s horrible about not only losing the venue but also not getting a refund. I’m not a big wedding person because it’s the marriage that is most important. My parents offered me a big wedding in a church I didn’t know - but I wanted a casual wedding in nature where my friends could bring their dogs and kids and a dish to share. My youngest son and daughter-in-law paid for their own wedding which is becoming the norm. That way they have total control of what they want.
So at this date they still don’t have a venue? It will work out and probably will be better than they ever imagined. It is a good pre- marriage lesson though - life doesn’t always look exactly how we envisioned it. Just like marriage!
Best wishes for the young couple. I’m positive it will all work out for the best.

  4. The photos are beautiful! Very sad that they lost their venue. I feel that things will work out in their favour, though.

  5. Well, that's a bummer! My heart hurts for them because every bride wants the day to be perfect and if Savannah and Trey have already put so much effort into the planning (not to mention the fact that they've paid for it), it just seems that they should at least get their money back.

On a side note, I feel like you do when it comes to how seldom young people get married in church anymore. And you are right...it's not about the chandeliers or anything else...it's about two hearts being joined together before God in the presence of witnesses.

Praying for your protection against Covid. God knows you are needed to be with Sam for those two days of all day testing. Sending love and hugs.

  6. That is bad news to receive two months before the wedding. I do hope they can salvage their celebration.

  7. Oh no! Especially that the money hasn't been refunded, and if the company has gone under, they might never see that money again! That's really sad. But I pray that God will lead them to the place that is perfect for them as they begin their new life together. "Love will find a way". I will definitely keep them in my thoughts and prayers and look forward to hearing the update as things take shape. God always has a better plan!!

  8. Now that's the kind of last minute surprise that no one wants to have. I'm praying that Trey and Savannah can roll with the punches and "get 'er done" in spite of this setback. True love will see them through as will the love of their family and friends. Keep us posted on their progress, Shug. Blessings!

  9. Yes, they DO have a story now. And you are seeing the good in all of the bad. I will now be praying for Sam's M.R.I. results. Have you gotten your Covid vaccine yet? Seniors need one every six months. We still wear masks in crowded places, like Wal-Mart.

  10. They sure do have a story. They need a couple prayers. Maybe they could have it in their church - did you ask them about that? Prayers for you and Sam too.

  12. Things will happen the way they're supposed to, and the couple will have a story to tell for years.

  13. I completely agree - God has the plan in hand and it will work out. The day is about so much more than those little details. I pray that it works out soon, though, to take down their stress level. It's such a beautiful sacred event and I bet you're all getting so excited! :)
