Happy Friday even though the temps today are going to be raging!
Let's talk about Life today!! We've got facebook, instagram and all other kinds of social media that seems to have taken over our lives. But what I am more interested in is REAL LIFE! The kind where I burn my toast, I stump my toe on the corner of the table, life where my sacred kitchen drawer is now overflowing.....where I lose my keys in the bottom of my suitcase!! (This really happened)
The truth around here is, every little thing, even that drawer being stuffed full, is part of the grand recipe for a happy life.
Although I throughly enjoyed our vacation, I know that my daily life is where I can find the small, unassuming details of happiness...
I visited my neighbor yesterday and we chatted for a good bit..... this equals happiness!
I received a short text yesterday from a friend that simply said..."Checking on y'all." This too equals happiness.
I had a good laugh yesterday when I literally changed from pants to shorts....in the parking lot at the mall. I really did!! I had an appointment and it was one where I needed to be dressed up a bit. But afterwards, I needed to run some errands....it was way too hot to have on pants, so I changed into the shorts I had carried with me.
I thought I was going to throw up when I stopped at a favorite restaurant to pick up some chicken salad for Sam and I. Just so happens that I had to walk past a manhole to get to the restaurant. You would not believe had bad it smelled... On my way back to my car, I held my breath until I got past the manhole. I tried to laugh as I was holding my breath... lol, didn't work out to well.
Even the frustrating things in life, play a big part in our daily living. These things teach us patience, grace, and they teach us to recognize that things do not always go as planned. Some things often teach me that I always end up with sore teeth when I grit my teeth when frustrated.
I don't know about the rest of you, but for me.....I have so many more days that are filled with sweet roses than days filled with nasty weeds. Life is layered isn't it??
My mother always told me that a good pot of stew needs to be layered. You have to add some sweet carrots but you also have to add some savory ingredients as well. The mix of ingredients is what makes the stew so delicious. Same for life!! We must never underestimate the little things.....the good, the bad, and all of the things that makes for a happy, well balanced life.
Balancing Life
Just another day when my mind thinks deep! lol
Shug....
I needed to read this today. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo true so true. I’m more into real life.
ReplyDeleteI think you are good at spotting the roses, others are good at spotting weeds. If we look for the happy things in life, we are much happier ourselves!
ReplyDeleteStay cool! Life is like a box of chocolates! Never know what will be next. Yesterday as I was getting ready for a nap after errands in town, the phone rang. Seems Far Guys new meds were shipped to our daughters home 2 1/2 hours away. I drove an hour and met her, she had the longer drive. Gene called the pharmacy and he was very nice at telling them they made a mistake. I however had to control my anger and let him handle it. Before they shipped it he had them check the address. Someone was not doing their job!
ReplyDeleteThis is a good perspective! 😇🌹
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Shug - I can't tell you how alike we are. This is my believe and philosophy in life. You can make all the bad things - better - by trying to see the good in them. Life is choice. But you HAVE to work on it. You have to decide. All things in a day are good and we should appreciate them. I'm not saying it right - but I totally get it. You are such a good writer.
ReplyDeleteAhhh Shug ... you hit the nail on the head today. Life certainly is layered.
ReplyDeletePraying for Sam and the marathon of tests and praying that the tumor will be gone forever.
You made me laugh about holding your breath and laughing and changing into your shorts.
Good for you !
You were a breath of fresh air this morning for me.
Sue
Life is like a layered stew, Shug, your mom was right! There's always bad mixed in with the good, but it's our reaction to it all that makes it sweet in the long run. I do love your upbeat, positive take on everything - you are an inspiration! God bless!
ReplyDeleteNow all I can think of is the poor sewer workers! Must be one of the very worst jobs in the world.
ReplyDeleteYes, my friend, life is layered, just as a good tasting stew is layered. We need the sunshine, and we need the rain. One thing the Holy Spirit has been helping me through is that when I view something as "bad" or "hard", I need to ask what it is that I am to learn through this trial, because He always means whatever comes into my life for my good and His glory. Thank you for this reminder here today about those very same things. :)
