Good Sunday Morning....
Happy Shug here!! My girls are home from their SPARC trips. "SPARC" stands for Spring Potential and Reality Courses. This is a distinctive, innovative program that allows students and teachers to fulfill a mission through exploring arts, academics and real-life adventures. The SPARC trips also offer students the opportunity to affirm their gifts, challenge the potentials, and honor God through having a Christ-like character.
Mylee loved this trip and wants to go back again next year (to Guatemala).. Not only did they interact with the kids at the orphanage, but they did a lot of work while they were there. The team helped paint some of the buildings as well as working on other small projects.
Shanda's group explored Arrow-head stadium and the history of Kansas City.
Other destinations for the SPARC trips included trips to Spain, Washington DC, London, Costa Rica, California, Broken Bow, and a few local places in our area.
This next week is Spring Break, so all the students will have time to re-coup from their long SPARC trips.
Mylee ordered the Grilled shrimp and veggies. Her food was very good as well...just heavily seasoned with cajun spices.
Good Sunday morning my dear friend. Oh what a wonderful trip for your girls, I'm so impressed. Mission trips are such a great way to see the world and put your Christian talk into walk. Loved the pictures. Oh I would like that restrurant. You hubbys plate would have been my choice. Looks like lots of fun and music. Had a few minutes before heading out to church. My dearest was feeling good...yeah so off we go!!!
ReplyDeleteTia Juanita's looks like a fun place, with huge servings also. I had never heard of SPARC before, what a wonderful thing! Is it something only in Texas?
ReplyDeleteSPARC sounds like a wonderful program. I'm so glad the grls had a chance to do it.
ReplyDeleteGlad Kaylee came home safely - short trip. I thought she was going to be there for awhile. Now is this program from a public school or Christian school? Sounds exciting. We don’t have anything like that here in the public schools - very much anti-Christianity.
ReplyDeleteMan those are some huge portions! Looks good only I don’t eat shellfish. 🦞
What a wonderful experience SPARC is. Sounds like they really had a good time too.
ReplyDeleteYour food looks delicious. Made me hungry.
SPARC sounds like a great program! Glad Mylee was blessed by it.
ReplyDeleteThe restaurant sounds like a good one!
Thanks for letting us know your 'girls' made it back safely and full of tales! SPARC sounds like a wonderful initiative; wish it were around in the 60's!
ReplyDeleteTia Juanita's sounds like my kind of place, and I love that mural. Can't beat Willie and George.
I am glad the girls made it back, smiles. Tia Juantia's sounds good, although, you can keep the seafood (well, if it had shrimp, as I am allergic). Wishing you a lovely week ahead, smiles.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Mylee and Shanda got back safely from their trip. It sounded like a productive one learning lots of things along the way, and helping out too. It was so good of them all to help out at the orphanage. It's always nice to try out new restaurants, especially when the food turns out to be good. The grilled shrimp and veggies sound delicious.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead, Shug.

**thank you for the Valentine card in the mail! It came today. I appreciate that so much! It made my heart smile. : )
Yay for your SPARC girls being back home safe and sound. Thankful for God's precious care over them. The food looks delicious. We enjoy good authentic Mexican food. Our daughter and son -in-law spent several years in Mexico City as missionaries and our daughter is a wonderful Mexican cook. Hope your Sunday was great!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Mylee got home safe and had such a fulfilling trip. She wants to go back! Tia Juanita's looks really authentic. My problem is I do like the taste of Mexican Food - but I just can't do too spicy!
ReplyDeleteSPARC looks like very good program.....
ReplyDeleteglad to hear they are enjoying the trips....
Have a great weekend
they all look so happy. I would like to visit Broken Bow, since I love all things western. back when I was the age of your girls, we did not have these opportunities like they have now.. this will help them decide what they want to do with their lives
